¹ An oracle of Damascus: "Look! Damascus will cease being a city and will become a heap of ruins.

¹ The oracle of Babylon that Isaiah son of Amoz saw:

¹ Surely in a night Ar of Moab is devastated and ruined. Certainly in a night Kir of Moab is devastated and ruined.

¹ the LORD rides on a swift cloud and is coming to Egypt. The idols of Egypt tremble before him. The hearts of the Egyptians melt (their courage fails) within them.

² You have made the city a heap, the mighty city a ruin. The palace of aliens is a city no more. It will never be rebuilt.

²⁶ "Have you not heard? Long ago I ordained it. In days of old I planned it! And now I have brought it to pass, that you have turned fortified cities into piles of stone.

² "'That is why the days are coming,' declares the LORD, 'when I will sound the battle cry against Rabbah, where the people of Ammon live. It will become a pile of rubble. Its villages will be burned down.' "'Then Israel will take possession of its inheritance,' says the LORD.

²³ Concerning Damascus: Hamath and Arpad are put to shame, for they have heard bad news. They are melted; anxiety is in the sea; it cannot be quiet. ²⁴ Damascus has become feeble; she has turned to flee, and trembling has seized her; anguish and sorrows have taken her like a woman in labor. ²⁵ How the city of praise has not been abandoned! The city of my joy! ²⁶ So her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be silenced in that day, says the LORD Almighty. ²⁷ I will kindle a fire in the walls of Damascus, which shall consume the palace of Benhadad."

³ For thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Damascus, yea, for four, I will not reverse it: because they have threshed Gilead with sledges of iron. ⁴ "I will send fire to the house of Hazael and it will devour the palaces of Ben-hadad. ⁵ I will break the gate bars of Damascus and I will cut off the inhabitants from the Valley of Aven and the one who takes hold of the scepter of Beth Eden, and the people of Aram will go into exile to Kir," says the LORD. ⁶ Therefore I will make Samaria as a heap of the field, and as plantings of a vineyard: and I will pour down her stones into the valley, and I will lay bare her foundations.

¹² Therefore, because of you, Zion will be plowed up like a field, and Jerusalem will become heaps of rubble, and the temple Mount like a forest high place."

¹ An oracle. The word of the LORD is against the land of Hadrach, and will rest upon Damascus; for the eye of man and of all the tribes of Israel is toward the LORD; ² He asked him for letters to the synagogues at Damascus, that if he found any there who belonged to The Way, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
