² When they had eaten up the grain which they had brought out of Egypt, their father said to them, “Go again, buy us a little more food.”

¹ When Jacob learned that there was grain in Egypt, he said to his sons: "Why are you doing nothing?" ² He said, "Look, I have heard that there is grain in Egypt. Go down there, and buy for us from there, so that we may live, and not die."

⁴ If you will send our brother with us, we will go down and buy food for you,

²⁰ and said, my lord, we came indeed down the first time to buy food;

¹⁶ Better is little, with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure with trouble.

¹⁸ Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

¹⁶ She considers a field, and buys it. With the fruit of her hands, she plants a vineyard.

⁸ If any one does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his own family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

⁶ But godliness with contentment is great gain. ⁷ For we bring nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. ⁸ But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these.
