³⁶ And Sara, my master's wife, hath borne my master a son in her old age, and he hath given him all that he had.

²⁹ Abram and Nahor both married. The name of Abram's wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor's wife was Milcah. She was the daughter of Haran, the father of both Milcah and Iscah. ³⁰ Now Sarai was barren. She had no children.

¹⁵ God said to Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but her name will be Sarah. ¹⁶ "I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations. Kings of peoples will come from her." ¹⁷ Abraham fell to his face. He laughed and said to himself: "Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?" ¹⁸ Abraham said to God: "If only Ishmael might live under your blessing!" ¹⁹ God replied: "Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son! You will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as a long lasting covenant for his descendants after him.

¹⁰ And he said, "I will certainly return to you ⌊in the spring⌋, and look, Sarah your wife will have a son." Now Sarah was listening at the doorway of the tent, and which was behind him. ¹¹ Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age. Sarah had passed the age of childbearing. ¹² So Sarah laughed to herself saying, "After I am worn out and my husband is old, shall this pleasure be to me?" ¹³ The LORD said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh, saying, 'Will I really bear a child, yet I am old?' ¹⁴ Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the set time I will return to you, when the season comes round and Sarah will have a son.

¹ the LORD was gracious to Sarah, as he had said. the LORD did for Sarah what he had promised. ² Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age. It was at the very time God had promised him. ³ Abraham gave the name Isaac (he laughs) to the son Sarah bore him. ⁴ When his son Isaac was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him as God had commanded him. ⁵ Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. ⁶ Sarah said: "God brought me laughter. Everyone who hears about this will laugh on account of me." ⁷ She added: "Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age."

¹⁰ So she said to Abraham, Send away that woman and her son: for the son of that woman is not to have a part in the heritage with my son Isaac.

⁵ Abraham left everything he owned to Isaac.

¹⁹ Without weakening in his faith, he acknowledged the decrepitness of his body (since he was about a hundred years old) and the lifelessness of Sarah’s womb.
