⁸ And I will cut off the people from Ashdod, and him who holds the scepter from Ashkelon, and I will turn My hand against Ekron. And the rest of the Philistines shall perish, says the Sovereign LORD.

⁶ Uzziah went to wage war against the Philistines. He tore down the walls of Gath, Jabneh, and Ashdod. He built cities near Ashdod and elsewhere among the Philistines.

¹⁶ therefore thus says the Sovereign LORD: 'Look! I am stretching out my hand against the Philistines, and I will cut off the Kerethites, and I will destroy the remainder of the seacoast.

⁹ Proclaim in the palaces at Ashdod and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves on the mountains of Samaria, and see what unrest is in her, and what oppression is among them.

⁴ "For Gaza will be forsaken, and Ashkelon deserted {— } Ashdod will be emptied at high noon; even Ekron will be uprooted. ⁵ "Woe to the inhabitants of the seacoast, the nation of the Cherethites! The word of the LORD is against you, O Canaan, the land of the Philistines. I will destroy you and you will not be inhabited. ⁶ The Philistine coast will become meadows for shepherds and sheep pens. ⁷ The coast will be for the remnant of the house of Judah. They will find pasture there. They will lie down in the evening in the houses of Ashkelon, for the LORD their God will visit them, and restore them.

⁶ Foreigners will dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.

⁷ “Awake, sword, against my shepherd, and against the man who is close to me,” says the LORD of Armies. “Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; and I will turn my hand against the little ones.
