¹⁰ I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree together, so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be united in mind and conviction.

¹ A song of ascents. Of David. Look, how good and how pleasant it is when brothers dwell together in unity.

³⁹ I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me forever, for their good, and the good of their children after them.

¹⁶ No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. For the patch will pull away from the garment, and a worse tear will result.

²¹ "No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; if he does, the new piece will pull away from the old, and the tear is made worse.

⁴³ So the people were divided because of Him,

¹⁶ Some of the Pharisees said, "This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath." But others said, "How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?" And there was a division among them.

¹⁹ The Jews were again divided over these words.

³⁴ A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so also you must love one another. ³⁵ By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”

²³ I in them, and you in me; that they may become perfectly one, and that the world may know that you have sent me, and have loved them even as you have loved me.

³² The congregation of believers was one in heart and soul. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they owned.

¹ Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

¹⁶ Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but associate with the lowly. Do not be conceited.

⁵ Now may the God of endurance and encouragement grant you harmony with one another in Christ Jesus, ⁶ so that with one accord, with one mouth, you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

³⁰ Now I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me.

¹⁷ Now I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and obstacles that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Turn away from them.

¹⁶ Therefore I urge you to imitate me.

¹⁸ For, in the first place, I hear that when you assemble as a church there are parties among you, and to some extent I believe it.

²⁵ so that there should be no division in the body, but that its members should have mutual concern for one another.

²⁰ So then, we are Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God!

¹ As God’s fellow workers, we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain.

¹ Now by the mildness and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you—I, Paul, who am humble when face to face with you, but bold when away.

¹¹ Finally, brethren, farewell. Aim for perfection, listen to my appeal, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.

¹² I beg you, brothers, become like me, for I became like you. You have done me no wrong.

¹ As a prisoner in the Lord, then, I urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling you have received: ² with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, ³ Make every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit through the tie of peace. ⁴ There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; ⁵ one Lord, one faith, one baptism, ⁶ one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. ⁷ But each one of us has been given mercy in Christ's generous measure.

³¹ Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, outcry and slander, along with every form of malice. ³² Be kind and tender-hearted to one another, forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave you.

²⁷ Nevertheless, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending side by side for the faith of the gospel,

¹ Therefore if you have any encouragement in Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, ² make my joy full by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. ³ Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. ⁴ Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

¹⁶ Only let us live up to what we have already attained.

¹ Now then, brothers, you learned from us how you ought to live and to please God, as in fact you are doing. We ask and encourage you in the Lord to do so even more. ² For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.

¹³ Hold them in the highest regard, loving them because of their work. Live in peace with each other.

¹ Now, regarding the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brethren,

²¹ I charge you, in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, doing nothing out of favoritism.

¹ I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of His appearing and His kingdom:

⁹ I prefer to appeal to you on the ground of love. Well then, as Paul the old man, who now-a-days is a prisoner for Christ Jesus, ¹⁰ I appeal to you for my child Onesimus, whose father I became while I was in chains.

¹³ Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good conduct, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. ¹⁴ But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast in it or deny the truth. ¹⁵ Such wisdom does not come from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. ¹⁶ For where there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there is disorder and every evil practice. ¹⁷ But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere. ¹⁸ Peacemakers who sow in peace reap the fruit of righteousness.

¹¹ Dear friends, I urge you as foreigners and temporary residents to abstain from fleshly desires which wage war against your soul,

⁸ Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble in spirit. ⁹ Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
