³ Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:

³⁰ But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then all of you shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD. ³¹ And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them: ³² And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. ³³ They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation. ³⁴ And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also.

¹ Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresses me. ² Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O you most High.

³ He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.

⁸ They said in their hearts, Let us destroy them together: they have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land.

¹⁰ Surely the wrath of man shall praise you: the remainder of wrath shall you restrain.

⁴ They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

¹² Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:

³⁴ Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me, he has crushed me, he has made me an empty vessel, he has swallowed me up like a dragon, he has filled his belly with my delicates, he has cast me out.

¹⁹ Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spoke, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was known to be heated.
