¹ Why stand you far off, O LORD? why hide you yourself in times of trouble?

²⁴ Wherefore hide you your face, and hold me for your enemy?

⁹ On the left hand, where he does work, but I cannot behold him: he hides himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him:

²⁹ When he gives quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hides his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:

¹ How long will you forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long will you hide your face from me? ² How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? ³ Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;

¹ My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?

⁹ Hide not your face far from me; put not your servant away in anger: you have been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

⁷ LORD, by your favour you have made my mountain to stand strong: you did hide your face, and I was troubled.

²⁴ Wherefore hide you your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?

¹ God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

¹⁴ LORD, why cast you off my soul? why hide you your face from me?

⁸ O the hope of Israel, the saviour thereof in time of trouble, why should you be as a stranger in the land, and as a travelling man that turns aside to tarry for a night?
