² As a lilly among thorns, so is my consort among the daughters.

¹³ And instead of the briar, shall spring up the cypress; and instead of the thistle, shall come up the myrtle. And the Lord shall be for a name, and for an everlasting sign which shall not fail.

²⁸ And with respect to raiment, why are you anxious? Consider those lilies of the field, how they grow. They neither toil nor spin: ²⁹ yet I affirm, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

¹⁵ that you may be blameless and sincere, spotless children of God in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, amongst whom shine ye forth as lights in the world, ¹⁶ displaying the word of life, that I may have matter of boasting for the day of Christ, that I did not run in vain, nor labour in vain,

¹² let your behaviour among the nations be virtuous, that when they speak against you as evil doers, they who have been eye witnesses may from your good works glorify God in the day of visitation.
