¹⁴ For sin is not to have dominion over you, as you are not under the law, but under favour.

⁷ Let Israel hope in the Lord, for with the Lord there is mercy, and with him plenteous redemption. ⁸ And he himself will redeem Israel from all their iniquities.

¹⁹ he will turn and have compassion on us: he will bury deep our iniquities: they shall be whelmed in the depths of the sea.

²¹ and she will bear a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.

¹⁷ Because the law was given by Moses grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

³⁶ If therefore the son shall make you free, you will be free indeed.

¹⁹ Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world stand convicted before God. ²⁰ Because no flesh can be justified before him by works of law; for by law there is a knowledge of sin,

¹⁶ Therefore the promise is because of faith, that it may be matter of favour to this extent, that it may be firm to the whole seed"not only to that under the law, but to that of the faith of Abraham,

²⁰ Now the law came in a little way, so that transgression abounded, but where sin abounded, favour superabounded, ²¹ that as sin had reigned by death, so favour might reign by means' of a justification for everlasting life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹² Therefore let not sin reign in your mortal body, so as by the appetites thereof to serve sin;

¹⁵ What then: shall we sin because we are not under law, but under favour? No, by no means.

⁴ So you also, my brethren, are become dead to the law by means of the body of the Christ, that you may be for another, who is raised from the dead, that we may bring forth fruit to God. ⁵ For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which subsisted under the law, exerted their energy in our members to bring forth fruit to death: ⁶ but we are now set free from the law by the death of that by which we were holden, so that we may serve with a new spirit, and not by the old letter. ⁷ What shall we say then? Is the law sin? No, by no means. Indeed I should not have known sin, had it not been for the law. For I should not have known covetousness, had not the law said, "Thou shall not covet" ⁸ But sin having got an advantage by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of desire. For without law sin is dead. ⁹ Now as for me, I for a while was alive without law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died. ¹⁰ So I found the commandment which was for life, to be for death. ¹¹ For sin having got an advantage by the commandment, seduced me, and by it slew me.

² For the law of the spirit of the life in Christ Jesus hath freed me from the law of sin and death;

¹² Therefore we, brethren, are not debtors to the flesh, that we should live according to the flesh;

⁶ Now if it be by favour, it is no more in consideration of works, since in this case the favour be no favour: but if it be in consideration of works it is no more of favour, otherwise the work is no work.

⁶ who hath qualified us to be ministers of a new covenant; not of letter but of spirit; for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. ⁷ [Now if the ministration of death engraven in letters, on stones, was attended with such glory, that the children of Israel could not look steadily on the face of Moses, because of the temporary glory of his countenance; ⁸ shall not the ministration of the spirit be much more attended with glory? ⁹ For if that ministration of condemnation was attended with glory, much more doth this ministration of justification abound in glory.

²³ Now before this belief came, we were under the custody of law, shut up together for the future belief to be revealed.

⁴ but when the fulness of time was come, God sent forth his son, born of a woman; born under law ⁵ that he might redeem those under law"that we may receive the adoption of children.

²¹ tell me ye who desire to be under law, do ye not hear the law?

¹⁸ but if you are led by the spirit you are not under law.

¹⁴ who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify for himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

¹⁰ This is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel, After these days, saith the Lord, adapting my laws to their understanding I will write them on their hearts: and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
