¹ Then he shewed me a pure river of the water of life, clear as chrystal, issuing from the throne of God and the lamb;

⁸ With the fatness of thy house they shall be plentifully fed; and thou wilt give them for drink, the full flowing stream of thy pleasures: ⁹ for with thee there is a fountain of life, and by thy light we shall see light.

⁴ The swelling streams of this river gladden the city of God: the Most High hath hallowed his own dwelling:

¹⁸ but will open rivers on the mountains, and fountains in the midst of plains: I will turn the wilderness into watery fens, and with streams refresh the thirsty ground.

¹⁸ And hadst thou hearkened to my commandments thy peace would have been like a river and thy righteousness like a wave of the sea;

¹² For thus saith the Lord, Behold I will glide to them like a peaceful stream, and like a torrent deluging the glory of nations. Their children shall be carried on shoulders, and shall be dandled on knees.

¹³ Because my people did two things which are both evil: they forsook me, the fountain of living water; and hewed out for themselves broken cisterns which cannot hold water.

¹³ Thou, O Lord art the hope of Israel. Let all who forsake Thee be ashamed; let them who have apostatised be enrolled in the dust, because they have forsaken the Lord the fountain of lie.

¹ Then he brought me to the vestibule of the house, and lo! water gushed out from under the porch eastward; for the front of the house faced the east; and the water ran down from the right corner, from the south, by the altar. ² And he led me out by the way of the north gate, and conducted me round on the outside to the gate facing the east; and lo! the water flowed down from the right corner, as a man cometh out. ³ And having a measure in his hand, he measured a thousand with the measure, and waded across a purling stream. ⁴ Then he measured a thousand with the measure, and waded through water up to the thighs. Then he measured a thousand and waded through water up to the loins. ⁵ Then he measured a thousand and could not cross it; for it was swelled to an impassable torrent. ⁶ And he said to me, Hast thou seen, Son of man? Then he led and brought me back along the border of the river. ⁷ And on my return, behold there were on the bank of the river, trees in great abundance on both sides. ⁸ And he said to me, This water which is flowing out to the eastern part of Galilee, hath indeed gone down to Arabia, and hath come to the sea to the water of the outlet, and it will heal the waters; ⁹ so that every of the animals which breed in all the places whithersoever the stream cometh, shall live, and there shall be fish there in great abundance, Because this water is come there and healeth, therefore they shall live. Every thing to which the stream cometh shall live.

⁸ And on that day living water will flow out of Jerusalem; the one half of it to the eastern sea and the one half of it to the western sea, both in summer and spring it shall be so.

¹⁰ Jesus answered and said to her, If thou hadst known the bounty of God, and who it is who saith to thee, Give me to drink, thou wouldst have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. ¹¹ The woman saith to him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep; whence then hast thou this living water?

¹⁴ but whosoever shall drink of the water which I will give him, will never thirst. But the water which I will give him, will be in him a fountain of water springing up for an everlasting life.

³⁸ He who believeth in me; as the scripture hath said, Out of his belly will flow streams of living water. ³⁹ Now this he said in reference to the spirit which they who believed in him were to receive; for a holy spirit was not yet received, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

¹⁶ and I will ask the Father and he will give you another monitor, that he may continue with you forever, ¹⁷ even the spirit of truth which the world cannot receive because it neither seeth him nor knoweth him. But you know him, because he abideth with you and will be in you. ¹⁸ I will not leave you orphans. I am coming to you.

²⁶ Now when the monitor whom I Will send to you from the Father, is come; the spirit of truth who proceedeth from the Father, he will testify concerning me.

⁷ But, I tell you this truth, it is to your advantage that I go away: for if I do not go, the monitor will not come to you; but when I go I will send him to you. ⁸ And when he is come, he will convince the world in respect to sin, and in respect to righteousness, and in respect to judgment ⁹ in respect to sin, because they do not believe in me; ¹⁰ and in respect to righteousness because I go to my Father and you see me no more; ¹¹ and in respect to judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. ¹² I have still many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. ¹³ But when he the spirit of truth, is come, he will lead you into all the truth; for he will not speak from himself, but will speak whatsoever he shall have heard, and will explain to you the train of events. ¹⁴ He will glorify me, for he will receive of mine, and communicate to you. ¹⁵ All that the Father hath is mine; therefore I said, He will receive of mine, and communicate to you.

⁴ Then assembling them together, he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which you have heard from me. ⁵ For John indeed baptized in water, but you shall be baptized in a Holy Spirit not many days hence.

³³ Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, he hath poured out this which you now see and hear.

²¹ To him who overcometh I will grant to sit with me on my throne, as I have overcome, and sit with my Father on his throne.

⁵ And from the throne proceed lightnings and thunders and voices. And there were seven lamps of fire blazing before the throne: these are the seven spirits of God. ⁶ And before the throne was a glassy sea resembling chrystal. And in the middle of the throne and around the throne were four animate beings full of eyes before and behind.

⁶ Then I looked and behold in the midst of the throne and of the four animate beings and in the midst of the elders stood a lamb as if it had been slaughtered, having seven horns and seven eyes which are the seven spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

¹³ And I heard every created being which is in the heaven and on the earth and underneath the earth and those which are in the sea, even all in them, saying, "to him who is sitting on the throne and to the lamb, be the blessing and the honour and the glory and the dominion for the ages of the ages."

¹⁰ and they cried with a loud voice, saying, "To our God who is sitting on the throne and to the Lamb be ascribed this salvation!" ¹¹ Whereupon all the angels who stood around the throne and the elders and the four animate beings prostrated themselves before the throne and worshipped God,

¹⁷ for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will tend them and guide them to living fountains of water; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

⁶ and he said to me, It is done; I am the Alpha and the Omega the beginning and the end; to him who thirsteth I will give without cost from the fountain of the water of life.

¹¹ having the glory of God. And its lustre was like a most precious stone, like a jasper shining as chrystal;

¹⁷ Now the spirit and the bride say, Come; and let him who heareth say Come. And let every one who thirsteth come; and let every one who is willing take of the water of life at free cost.
