¹ A Psalm of an Ode for the sons of Kore. On the holy mountains are his foundations!

¹ At length Solomon began building the house of the Lord at Jerusalem, on mount Amoria, where the Lord appeared to his father David; in the place which David had prepared at the threshing floor of Orna, the Jebusite.

¹ The Psalm of an Ode for the sons of Kore, on the second day of the week. The Lord is great and greatly to be praised; in the city of our God; on his holy mountain. ² To the great joy of the whole earth, he is establishing firmly Sion's mountains. On the sides to the north is the city of the great king.

¹⁶ But why do you suppose curdled mountains? This is the mount on which God is pleased to dwell, for the Lord will at length dwell there.

¹ A Song of the steps. I Have lifted up mine eyes to the mountains, from which my help is to come.

² Because in the last days, the mount of the Lord will be conspicuous; and the house of God will be on the top of mountains; and exalted above the hills: therefore all the nations will come to it. ³ Many nations indeed, will go saying, "Come, let us go up to the mount of the Lord; and to the house of the God of Jacob. And he will teach us his way, and we will walk therein." For from Sion shall go forth a law; and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

¹⁶ Therefore thus saith the Sovereign Lord; behold I lay for the foundation of Sion a stone of inestimable worth; a chosen, precious corner stone for the foundations of it, and he who believeth shall not be ashamed.

⁷ them I will bring to my holy mountain and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings, and their sacrifices shall be acceptable on mine altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations.

³ But thus saith the Lord, I will return to Sion, and I will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the Lord Almighty, a holy mountain.

¹⁸ Now I say to thee, Thou art named Peter, [a rock,] and upon this very rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

¹⁰ According to the favour of God granted to me, I, like a skilful architect, have laid a foundation, and another buildeth upon it. But let every one take heed how he buildeth thereon. ¹¹ For no one can lay any other foundation than that which is laid, which is Jesus The Christ.

²⁰ built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the corner stone, ²¹ by whom the whole building being united in symmetry is to grow up to a holy temple in the Lord; ²² by whom you also are builded up together with them by the spirit, for an habitation of God.

⁴ to whom you are come as to a living stone, by men indeed rejected, but with God chosen and precious, ⁵ and you yourselves as living stones are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ; ⁶ on which account also there is in the scripture this passage, "Behold I lay in Sion a chosen, precious, chief corner stone, and he who confideth in it, shall not be ashamed," ⁷ this honour then being for you who believe: but to the disbelieving, "the stone, which the builders rejected that which was for the head of the corner," ⁸ is indeed a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence. They disbelieving the word stumble at the thing for which they were laid:

¹⁸ This voice we ourselves actually heard uttered from heaven, when we were with him on the holy mountain.
