Come let us kill him and keep possession of his inheritance. 39 So, seizing him, they turned him out of the vineyard and slew him. 40 Now when the lord of the vineyard shall come, what will he do to these tenants? 41 They say to him, "Wretches! he will put them to a wretched death: and his vineyard he will let to others; who will render him the fruits in their seasons." 42 Jesus saith to them, Have you never read in the scriptures, "The stone which the builders rejected was the very one for the head of the corner. This [salvation] was from the Lord, and it is wonderful in our eyes." 43 Therefore I say to you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you and given to a nation producing the fruits thereof.
