1 Chronicles 29:14-16

14 But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be enabled to shew such liberality to thee. For all things are thine and of thine own we have given thee. 15 For we before thee are strangers and sojourners as all our fathers were. Our days on earth are like a shadow and there is no fixed abiding. 16 Lord our God, all this store which I have provided for building a house to thy holy name is from thy bounty, and belongeth all to thee.

Ezekiel 16:16-21

16 Nay thou didst take some of thy garments and make for thyself idols of needle work; and didst commit gross fornication on them. Though thou shouldst not have gone in; nor should such a thing be done, 17 thou didst take the vessels, which were thy boast, made of my gold and of my silver, some of those which I gave thee; and didst make for thyself male images and commit fornication with them. 18 Thou didst take also thine embroidered raiment and clothe them and didst set mine oil and mine incense before them. 19 My bread also which I gave thee; the fine flour, oil and honey with which. I fed thee, these thou didst set before them for a sweet smelling savour. Nay, it came to pass, saith the Lord, 20 That thou didst take thy sons and thy daughters whom thou hadst born and didst sacrifice these to them to be devoured. As if it had been a small matter to commit fornication, 21 thou didst slay thy children and offer them up, making them expiatory sacrifices to those images,

Matthew 25:14-29

14 For he is like a man who, intending to travel, called his servants and committed to them his effects, 15 and to one gave five talents and to another two, and to another one; to every one according to his respective ability, and straightway set out on his journey. 16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made five other talents; 17 and in like manner he who had received the two gained also other two; 18 but he who received the one went and digged a hole in the ground and hid his master's money: 19 and after a long time the master of these servants cometh and reckoneth with them: 20 whereupon he who had received the five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Sir, thou deliveredst to me five talents, here are besides them five other talents, which I have gained: 21 and his master said to him; "Well done, good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful in a small trust, I will give thee a much greater; enter into the joy of thy master:" 22 then he who had received the two talents came and said, Sir, thou deliveredst to me two talents, here are, besides them, two other talents, which I have gained: 23 his master said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful in a small trust, I will give thee a much greater, enter thou into the joy of thy master: 24 then he, who had received the one talent, came and said, Sir, I knew that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou didst not scatter; so, 25 being afraid, I went and hid thy talent in the earth. Here it is. Thou hast what is thine own. 26 Thereupon his master said to him in reply, Malignant and slothful servant! Thou knowest that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter! 27 Thou shouldst therefore have lodged my money with the bankers, that at my return I might have received mine own with interest. 28 Take therefore the talent from him; and give it to him who hath the ten talents. 29 For to every one who improveth more shall be given, and he shall abound; but from him who improveth not, even what he hath shall be taken away:

Luke 19:13-26

13 So having called ten servants of his, he delivered to them ten pounds weight of money, and said to them, Trade with this till I return. 14 Now his citizens hated him, and sent an embassy after him, saying, We do not wish this man to reign over us. 15 And when he had obtained the regal government and was come back, he ordered those servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know what each had gained. 16 And the first came and said, My lord, that pound of thine, hath gained ten pounds. 17 Whereupon he said to him, Well done, good servant! because thou hast been faithful in a very small trust, be thou the governor of ten cities. 18 Then the second came and said, My lord, that pound of thine hath gained five pounds. 19 Whereupon he said to him, Be thou also governor of five cities. 20 Then another came and said, My lord, here is that pound of thine, which I have kept laid up in a napkin. 21 For I was afraid of thee, because thou art an austere man. Thou takest up what thou laidst not down, and reapest what thou didst not sow. 22 Whereupon he Saith to him, Out of thine own mouth I will condemn thee, thou malignant slave. Thou knowest that I am an austere man, taking up what I laid not down, and reaping what I did not sow! 23 Why then didst thou not put my money in the bank, that at my return I might have received it with interest? 24 Then he said to his attendants, Take the pound from him, and give it to him who hath the ten pounds, 25 [and upon their saying to him, My lord he hath ten pounds] 26 for I tell you, said he, that to every one who improveth more shall be given; but from him who improveth not, even what he hath shall be taken away.
