⁵ I smote Egypt with signal miracles, which I did among them.

¹⁰ now therefore come: I will send thee to Pharao king of Egypt and thou shalt bring my people the Israelites out of the land of Egypt.

¹² Now therefore go and I will open thy mouth and teach thee what thou shalt say. ¹³ Then Moses said, Lord, provide another capable person whom thou wilt send. ¹⁴ Whereupon the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses and he said, Lo! is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well for thee. And lo! he will come out to meet thee, and when he shall see thee he will be rejoiced.

¹ The Lord spoke to Moses saying, Behold I have made thee a god to Pharao, and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet, ² and thou shalt deliver to him all that I command thee. And Aaron thy brother shall speak to Pharao, to send the Israelites out of his land. ³ But I will let Pharao's heart be stubborn, and I will multiply my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt. ⁴ And when Pharao will not hearken to you, I will lay my hand upon Egypt and bring out my people, the children of Israel with my host out of the land of Egypt with great vengeance. ⁵ And all the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord when I lay my hand on Egypt and bring the children of Israel out from among them. ⁶ So Moses acted in conjunction with Aaron; and as the Lord commanded so they did. ⁷ Now Moses was eighty years old and his brother Aaron was eighty three years old, when he spoke to Pharao. ⁸ And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron saying, ⁹ If Pharao shall speak to you and say, Give us a sign or a miracle, then thou shalt say to thy brother Aaron, Take this staff and throw it on the ground in the presence of Pharao and before his attendants and it shall be a dragon. ¹⁰ So Moses went in with Aaron before Pharao and his attendants and they did as the Lord commanded them. But when Aaron threw down the staff before Pharao and before his attendants and it became a dragon, ¹¹ Pharao called together the wise men of Egypt and the sorcerers. And the Egyptian enchanters by their sorceries did in like manner. ¹² They cast down each his staff, which became dragons. Though Aaron's staff devoured their staves,

³⁷ and the Israelites to the number of six hundred thousand men on foot besides women and children began their march from Ramesses to Succoth.

⁵¹ on that very day the Lord led the Israelites out of the land of Egypt with their host.

⁴³ how he had displayed his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the plain of Tanis; ⁴⁴ and had turned their rivers into blood, and their cisterns so that they could not drink; ⁴⁵ had sent against them the dog fly which devoured them, and swarms of frogs which destroyed them; ⁴⁶ and had given their crops to the canker Worm, and their labours to the locust; ⁴⁷ had smitten their vineyards with hail, and their sycamine trees with frost; ⁴⁸ and delivered up their cattle to hail, and their substance to the fire; ⁴⁹ having sent out against them his fierce anger, wrath and indignation and affliction; a mission executed by evil angels: ⁵⁰ he paved a way for his vengeance; he spared not their lives from death: he delivered up their cattle to pestilence, ⁵¹ and smote every first born in the land of Egypt; the first fruits of their labours in the tents of Cham;

²⁶ he sent forth Moses his servant; Aaron whom he had chosen: ²⁷ to them he committed the words of his signs; of his wonders in the land of Cham. ²⁸ He sent forth darkness and it was dark. When they made his words bitter, ²⁹ he turned their waters into blood, and made a slaughter of their fishes; ³⁰ their land swarmed with frogs, in the inmost chambers of their kings. ³¹ He spake and the dog fly came, and stinging gnats in all their borders; ³² he made his showers, hail, flaming fire in all their land; ³³ he smote their vines and their fig trees, and broke every tree of their border. ³⁴ He spake, and the grasshopper came, and the brouchus locust in swarms innumerable, ³⁵ and devoured every herb in their country, and ate up the fruit of their land. ³⁶ Then he smote every first born of their land; the first fruits of all their labour;

⁸ who smote the first born of Egypt: the first born both of man and beast. ⁹ Amidst thee, Egypt, he sent his signs and wonders, on Pharao and on all his servants.

¹⁰ to him who smote Egypt with their first born; for his mercy endureth forever;
