⁴² But I know you that you have not the love of God in you.

¹⁵ Whereupon he said to them, You are they who justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts. Because that which is high among men, is an abomination in the sight of God,

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathaniel coming to him and saith respecting him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no guile! ⁴⁸ Nathaniel saith to him, Whence knowest thou me? ⁷ Because the bent of the flesh is enmity to God, [for it is not in subjection to the law of God, nor indeed can be,]

¹² For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and penetrateth even to the separation of animal life and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is capable of discerning the desires and thoughts of the heart. ¹³ There is indeed no creature concealed from his sight. All things are naked and exposed to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

¹⁵ Love not the world nor the things in the world. If any one loveth the world, the love of the Father is not in him

¹⁷ Whosoever hath worldly substance, and seeth his brother in want, and shutteth up his compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

²⁰ If anyone saith, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar. For how can he who doth not love his brother whom he hath seen, love God, whom he hath not seen?

²³ and I will slay her children with death; and all the congregations shall know, that I am the searcher of reins and hearts, and will give to every one of you according to your works.
