⁴⁵ And before I had finished this my address in thought, straightway Rebekka came with the pitcher on her shoulder and went down to the well and drew water, and I said to her, Let me drink.

¹⁵ And before he had finished this mental speech, lo! Rebekka the daughter of Bathuel, the son of Melcha, the wife of Nachor, Abraham's brother, came out with her pitcher on her shoulder. ¹⁶ Now the damsel was of a very beautiful countenance and was a virgin. No man had known her. So when she had gone down to the well and filled her pitcher and came up, ¹⁷ the servant ran to meet her and said, Let me drink a little water out of thy pitcher. ¹⁸ Upon which she said, Drink, my lord, and hastened to let down the pitcher on her arm and let him drink till he was satisfied. ¹⁹ Then she said, I will draw water for thy camels also until they shall have all drunk. ²⁰ And she hasted and emptied the pitcher into the watering trough and ran to the well to draw more and drew water for all the camels.

¹³ When she spoke in her heart, her lips moved, but her voice was not heard, so Eli thought that she was drunk. ¹⁴ Thereupon Eli's servant said to her, How long wilt thou be drunk? Take away thy wine, and depart from the presence of the Lord, ¹⁵ And Anna answered, and said, No, my lord. I am a woman in deep affliction. I have not drunk wine nor strong drink; but am pouring out my soul before the Lord.

²⁷ O Lord Almighty, God of Israel, thou hast made a revelation to thy servant, saying, I am to build a house for thee; therefore thy servant hath found this disposition of his heart to make this prayer to thee.

⁴ Thereupon the king said to me, For what dost thou make request? And when I had prayed to the God of heaven,

⁹ Then thou shalt cry and God will answer thee; and whilst thou art speaking he will say, Lo I am here. If thou remove from thee the bond, and the vote and decree which occasion murmuring,

²⁴ therefore it shall come to pass, that before they call I will answer them: and while they are yet speaking I will say, "What is the matter."

¹⁹ O Lord hear! O Lord, be appeased! Attend, Lord! Defer not, my God, for thine own sake! for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.

²³ At the beginning of thy supplication a word went forth, and I am come to tell thee; for thou art a man greatly beloved. Be instructed therefore by the decree, and understand by the vision.

⁷ Ask, and ye shall obtain; seek and ye shall find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.

²⁴ which when they heard, they with one accord raised their voice to God and said, O Lord, thou art the God, who madest the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that are therein, ²⁵ who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, "Why did nations rage, and tribes meditate vain things?" ²⁶ The kings of the earth combined, and the chiefs assembled together against the Lord and against his Anointed." ²⁷ For indeed against thy holy Child Jesus whom thou hast anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with nations and the tribes of Israel, were gathered together, ²⁸ to do what thy hand and thy council had determinately marked out beforehand to be brought to pass. ²⁹ Now with regard to present occurrences, look down, O Lord, on their threatenings, and enable thy servants to speak thy word with all freedom ³⁰ when thou stretchest forth thy hand for healing; and signs and. wonders are done by the name of thy holy child, Jesus. ³¹ And while they were praying, the place in which they were assembled was shaken. And they were all filled with a Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness. ³² Now the whole body of the believers were of one heart and one soul. And no one said that any of his goods were his own; but all things were common among them. ³³ And the apostles delivered with great power the testimony of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And there was great thankfulness among them all;

³⁰ Thereupon Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting till this hour, and at the ninth hour praying in my house. And lo! a man stood before me in splendid attire,

¹² Then, upon recollection, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, surnamed Mark, where many were assembled and praying. ¹³ And when Peter knocked at the door of the gateway, a servant maid named Rhoda, went to inquire who was there. ¹⁴ But knowing Peter's voice, she, for joy, did not open the gate, but ran and told that Peter was at the gate. ¹⁵ Upon which they said to her, Thou art mad. But she confidently affirmed that it was certainly so: then they said, It is his angel. ¹⁶ As Peter continued knocking, they opened the gate, and upon seeing him, were extremely surprised. ¹⁷ But he having beckoned to them with his hand to be silent, related to them how the Lord had brought him out of prison, and said, Tell this to James and the brethren. Then departing, he went to another place.

²⁶ and in such a manner as the spirit joineth in helping our infirmities: for we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the spirit itself intercedeth for us with groans which cannot be expressed in words.
