²⁰ Now therefore my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are upon thee, to tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him;

² The Spirit of the Lord hath spoken by me, And his word was upon my tongue.

⁸ when there came to me a word from the Lord saying, Thou hast shed much blood, and fought many battles, thou shalt not build a house for my name, because thou hast shed much blood on the earth before me. ⁹ Behold a son shall be born to thee. He shall be a man of rest. I will give him rest from all his enemies round about. For his name shall be Solomon; and I will give Israel peace and rest in his days. ¹⁰ He shall build a house for my name. And he shall be to me a son; and I will be to him a father. And I will establish the throne of his kingdom in Israel forever.

⁵ so in preference to all my sons, for the Lord hath given me many sons, he hath made choice of my son Solomon, to set him on the throne of the Lord's kingdom, over Israel. ⁶ And God hath said to me, Thy son Solomon shall build my house, and my court; for I have chosen him to be my son; and I will be to him a father;

¹⁰ Observe now, since the Lord hath chosen thee to build a house for him for a sanctuary, be strong and do it.

¹ Then king David said to all the congregation, My son Solomon whom the Lord hath chosen, is young and tender, and the work is great; for it is not for man but for the Lord God.

¹² Lord our God, wilt thou not judge them? Because we have not power to withstand this great multitude which is coming against us, and do not know what to do with them, we can only have our eyes on thee.

¹⁵ Mine eyes are continually towards the Lord; because he can extricate my feet from the snare.

² Behold! as the eyes of servants are on the hands of their masters; as the eyes of a maid are on the hands of her mistress, so are our eyes on the Lord our God, till he be gracious to us.

⁹ since with regard to that stone which I have set before Jesus, upon that one stone there are seven eyes; behold I am digging a pit saith the Lord Almighty, and I will feel all the iniquity of this land in one day.
