¹⁶ By this we know the love of God. Because he laid down his life for us, therefore we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

²⁸ even as the son of man came not to be waited on, but to wait, and to give his life a ransom for many.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him may not perish, but have everlasting life.

¹⁵ even as the father knoweth me, and I know the father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.

³⁴ A new commandment I give you, that you love one another. As I have loved you, that you also love one another.

¹² This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. ¹³ No one hath greater love than this, that he would lay down his life for his friends.

²⁸ Take heed therefore to yourselves and to the whole flock among which the holy spirit hath made you overseers to tend the congregation of God which he hath purchased with his own blood.

⁸ but God confirmeth his love for us, because while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

⁴ who for my life exposed their own; to whom not only I, but all the Gentile congregations also, owe thanks.

² And walk in love, even as the Christ loved us, and delivered himself up for us, as an3 offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.

²⁵ Husbands love your wives, even as the Christ loved the congregation, and gave himself up for it,

¹⁷ but can if I am even poured out as a libation on the sacrifice and service of your belief, rejoice and congratulate with you all.

³⁰ because he was on the brink of death, for the work of the Christ, having exposed his life that he might supply the want of your religious service for me.

¹³ waiting for the blessed hope and the bright display of the glory of the great God, and saviour of us Jesus Christ,

¹⁸ knowing that from that vain course of life, handed down to you from your fathers, you have been redeemed not with perishable things such as silver and gold,

²⁴ who himself offered up our sins in his own body on the cross, that we, being freed from those sins, might live for righteousness; "by whose stripes you have been healed."

¹⁸ Because Christ himself suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God: being indeed put to death in flesh, but brought to life by that spirit

⁶ he who saith he abideth in him, ought to walk as he walked.

⁹ By this the love of God was manifested among us, because God sent his only begotten son into the world, that we may live by him. ¹⁰ In this is the love; not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his son to be an atonement for our sins. ¹¹ Beloved, if God so loved us; we surely ought to love one another.
