⁴¹ And you shall take the Levites for me (I am the LORD) instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel; and the domestic beasts of the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the domestic beasts of the children of Israel.

⁵ And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to the LORD. ⁶ And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basins; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.

²⁶ Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, "Who is on the LORD's side? Let him come to me." And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to him. ²⁷ And he said to them, "Thus says the LORD God of Israel, 'Every man is to put his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and every man slay his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor.' " ²⁸ And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: And there fell of the people that day about three thousand men. ²⁹ For Moses had said, "Consecrate yourselves today to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that He may bestow upon you a blessing this day."

¹² and I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn that opens the womb among the children of Israel: Therefore the Levites shall be mine;

⁴⁵ take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel, and the domestic beasts of the Levites instead of their domestic beasts; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the LORD.

¹⁶ For they are wholly given to me from among the children of Israel; instead of such as open every womb, even instead of the firstborn of all the children of Israel, have I taken them to me.

¹⁵ Every thing that opens the womb in all flesh, which they bring to the LORD, whether it be of men or beasts, shall be yours: Nevertheless the firstborn of man shall you surely redeem, and the firstling of unclean beasts shall you redeem.

²⁸ Even as the Son of Man did not come to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many."
