⁶ And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.

¹⁴ And the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, you are cursed above all domestic beasts, and above every wild beast of the field; upon your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life: ¹⁵ And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel."

¹⁵ who led you through that great and terrible wilderness, in which were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought you forth water out of the rock of flint;

²⁹ Do not rejoice, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote you is broken: For out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.

⁶ The burden of the wild beasts of the south: Into the land of trouble and anguish, from where comes the young and old lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they will carry their riches on the shoulders of young donkeys, and their treasures on the humps of camels, to a people that shall not profit them.

¹⁷ "For, behold, I will send serpents, cockatrices, among you, which will not be charmed, and they shall bite you", said the LORD.

³ And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out from there; and though they hide from My sight in the bottom of the sea, there I will command the serpent, and he shall bite them: ⁴ And though they go into captivity before their enemies, I will command the sword in that place, and it shall slay them: And I will set My eyes upon them for evil, and not for good."

⁹ Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents.
