⁵ And the people spoke against God, and against Moses, Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loathes this light bread.

¹¹ And they said to Moses, "Have you taken us away to die in the wilderness because there were no graves in Egypt? Why have you dealt in this peculiar way with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?

²⁴ And the people murmured against Moses, saying, "What shall we drink?"

² And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness: ³ And the children of Israel said to them, "We wish to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we ate bread to the full; for you have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger."

⁷ And in the morning, you shall then see the glory of the LORD; for He hears your murmurings against the LORD: And what are we, that you murmur against us?" ⁸ And Moses said, "This shall be, when the LORD gives you flesh to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to the full; for the LORD hears your murmurings which you murmur against Him: And what are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD."

¹⁵ And when the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, "It is manna": For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, "This is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat.

³¹ And the house of Israel called its name Manna: And it was like coriander seed, white; and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.

² For this reason the people chided with Moses, and said, "Give us water that we may drink." And Moses said to them, "Why do you chide with me? For which reason do you tempt the LORD?" ³ And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, "Is it for this reason that you have brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our domestic beasts with thirst?"

¹ And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: And the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed those that were in the uttermost parts of the camp. ² And the people cried out to Moses; and when Moses prayed to the LORD, the fire was quenched. ³ And he called the name of the place Taberah: Because the fire of the LORD burnt among them. ⁴ And the mixed multitude that was among them fell a lusting: And the children of Israel also wept again, and said, "Who shall give us flesh to eat? ⁵ We remember the fish, which we ate in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic: ⁶ But now our soul is dried away: There is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes. ⁷ And the manna was as coriander seed, and its color as the color of bdellium. ⁸ And the people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in a mortar, and baked it in pans, and made cakes of it: And the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil. ⁹ And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell on it.

¹ And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night. ² And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: And the whole congregation said to them, "Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or would God we had died in this wilderness! ³ And why has the LORD brought us to this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? Were it not better for us to return into Egypt? ⁴ And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.

¹³ Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land that flows with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, except you make yourself altogether a prince over us? ¹⁴ Moreover you have not brought us into a land that flows with milk and honey, or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: Will you put out the eyes of these men? We will not come up.

⁴¹ But on the next day all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, "You have killed the people of the LORD.

¹² And the children of Israel spoke to Moses, saying, "Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish.

⁶ God sets the solitary in families: He brings out those which are bound with chains: But the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

¹⁹ Yes, they spoke against God; they said, "Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?

²⁴ and had rained down manna on them to eat, and had given them of the grain kernels of heaven. ²⁵ Man ate angels' food: He sent them meat to the full.

⁷ The full soul loathes a honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
