We will not come up. ¹⁵ And Moses was very wroth, and said to the LORD, Respect not you their offering: I have not taken one donkey from them, neither have I hurt one of them. ¹⁶ And Moses said to Korah, "Be you and all your company before the LORD, you, and they, and Aaron, tomorrow: ¹⁷ And take every man his censer, and put incense in them, and bring you before the LORD every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers; you also, and Aaron, each of you his censer. ¹⁸ And they took every man his censer, and put fire in them, and laid incense on it, and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Moses and Aaron. ¹⁹ And Korah gathered all the congregation against them to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: And the glory of the LORD appeared to all the congregation. ²⁰ And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, ²¹ separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment. ²² And they fell upon their faces, and said, "O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and will you be wroth with all the congregation? ²³ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ²⁴ speak to the congregation, saying, "Get you up from about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. ²⁵ And Moses rose up and went to Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him. ²⁶ And he spoke to the congregation, saying, "Depart, I implore you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of their's, lest you be consumed in all their sins. ²⁷ So they got up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: And Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children. ²⁸ And Moses said, "Hereby you shall know that the LORD has sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of my own mind. ²⁹ If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the LORD has not sent me. ³⁰ But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain to them, and they go down quick into the pit; then you shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD. ³¹ And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground split asunder that was under them: ³² And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained to Korah, and all their goods. ³³ They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed on them: And they perished from among the congregation. ³⁴ And all Israel that were all around them fled at the cry of them: For they said, "Lest the earth swallow us up also. ³⁵ And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense. ³⁶ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ³⁷ speak to Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning, and scatter you the fire yonder; for they are hallowed. ³⁸ The censers of these sinners against their own souls, let them make them broad plates for a covering of the altar: For they offered them before the LORD, therefore they are hallowed: And they shall be a sign to the children of Israel. ³⁹ And Eleazar the priest took the brazen censers, with which those that were burnt had offered; and they were made broad plates for a covering of the altar: ⁴⁰ To be a memorial to the children of Israel, that no stranger, which is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the LORD; that he be not as Korah, and as his company: As the LORD said to him by the hand of Moses. ⁴¹ But on the next day all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, "You have killed the people of the LORD. ⁴² And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: And behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD appeared. ⁴³ And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation. ⁴⁴ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ⁴⁵ get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them as in a moment. And they fell upon their faces. ⁴⁶ And Moses said to Aaron, "Take a censer, and put fire in it from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly to the congregation, and make an atonement for them: For there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun. ⁴⁷ And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the middle of the congregation; and behold, the plague was begun among the people: And he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people. ⁴⁸ And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed. ⁴⁹ Now those that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, beside those that died about the matter of Korah. ⁵⁰ And Aaron returned to Moses to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: And the plague was stayed.

³ Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power: ⁴ Unstable as water, you shall not excel; because you went up to your father's bed; then you defiled it: He went up to my couch.

¹⁸ And the sons of Kohath; Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel: And the years of the life of Kohath were a hundred and thirty-three years.

⁹ And the sons of Eliab; Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. This is that Dathan and Abiram, which were famous in the congregation, who strove against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, when they strove against the LORD: ¹⁰ And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died, what time the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men: And they became a sign.

³ our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of those that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.

⁶ and what he did to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben: How the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and all the substance that was in their possession, in the middle of all Israel:

¹ Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but for as much as he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: And the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright. ² For Judah prevailed above his brothers, and of him came the chief ruler; but the birthright was Joseph's):

¹¹ Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the contrariety of Korah.

⁴ There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

¹⁶ These were the renowned of the congregation, princes of the tribes of their fathers, heads of thousands in Israel.

⁹ And the sons of Eliab; Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. This is that Dathan and Abiram, which were famous in the congregation, who strove against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, when they strove against the LORD:

²⁴ And these were the heads of the house of their fathers, even Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty men of valor, famous men, and heads of the house of their fathers.

³⁰ And of the children of Ephraim twenty thousand and eight hundred, mighty men of valor, famous throughout the house of their fathers.

¹⁴ And your renown went forth among the heathen for your beauty: For it was perfect through My splendor, which I had put on you", said the Lord GOD.

¹⁰ These discovered her nakedness: They took her sons and her daughters, and slew her with the sword: And she became famous among women; for they had executed judgment upon her.

⁶ And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.' These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel."

⁴⁵ And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God. ⁴⁶ And they shall know that I am the LORD their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them: I am the LORD their God."

¹ And Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: For he had married an Ethiopian woman. ² And they said, "Has the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? Has he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it.

¹ And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night. ² And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: And the whole congregation said to them, "Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or would God we had died in this wilderness! ³ And why has the LORD brought us to this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? Were it not better for us to return into Egypt? ⁴ And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.

¹⁴ And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: For they have heard that you LORD are among this people, that you LORD are seen face to face, and that your cloud stands over them, and that you go before them, by day time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night.

⁷ and put fire in it, and put incense in them before the LORD tomorrow: And it shall be that the man whom the LORD does choose, he shall be holy: You take too much on you, you sons of Levi.

¹¹ For which cause both you and all your company are gathered together against the LORD: And what is Aaron, that you murmur against him?

³⁴ Defile not therefore the land which you shall inhabit, in which I dwell: For I the LORD dwell among the children of Israel.

² For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: So that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: Yes, the hand of the princes and rulers has been chief in this trespass.

¹⁷ The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: The Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place.

¹⁶ They also envied Moses in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD.

¹¹ "To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me?" said the LORD: "I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of he-goats. ¹² When you come to appear before Me, who has required this at your hand, to tread My courts? ¹³ Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination to Me; the new moons and Sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away endure; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. ¹⁴ My soul hates your new moons and your appointed feasts: They are a trouble to me; I am weary to bear them. ¹⁵ And when you spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you: Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear: Your hands are full of blood. ¹⁶ Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil;

³ Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, "Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place. ⁴ Do not trust in lying words, saying, 'The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these.' ⁵ For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings; if you thoroughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbor; ⁶ if you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt: ⁷ Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, forever and ever. ⁸ Behold, you trust in lying words that cannot profit. ⁹ Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know; ¹⁰ and come and stand before Me in this house, which is called by My name, and say, 'We are delivered to do all these abominations?' ¹¹ Has this house, which is called by My name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it", said the LORD. ¹² "But all of you go now to My place which was in Shiloh, where I set My name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of My people Israel.

⁹ And do not think to say within yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father': For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. ¹⁰ And even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees: Therefore every tree which does not bring forth good fruit is hewed down, and cast into the fire.

³⁹ Whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust Him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,

⁵¹ "You stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit: As your fathers did, so you do.

²⁸ For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: ²⁹ But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not from men, but from God.

⁵ Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.

⁴⁵ get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them as in a moment. And they fell upon their faces.

⁶ And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell upon their faces: And the glory of the LORD appeared to them.

⁶ And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the LORD until the evening, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.

¹ "And take to yourself Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister to Me in the priest's office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons.

⁴³ And they shall be upon Aaron, and upon his sons, when they come in to the tabernacle of the congregation, or when they come near the altar to minister in the holy place; that they do not bear iniquity, and die: It shall be a statute forever to him and his seed after him.

² take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments, and the anointing oil, and a bull for the sin offering, and two rams, and a basket of unleavened bread;

³ Then Moses said to Aaron, "This is it that the LORD spoke, saying, "I will be sanctified in them that come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.

⁶ They shall be holy to their God, and not profane the name of their God: For the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: Therefore they shall be holy. ⁷ They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: For he is holy to his God. ⁸ You shall sanctify him therefore; for he offers the bread of your God: He shall be holy to you: For I the LORD, which sanctify you, am holy.

¹² neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is on him: I am the LORD. ¹³ And he shall take a wife in her virginity. ¹⁴ A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or a harlot, these shall he not take: But he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife. ¹⁵ Neither shall he profane his seed among his people: For I the LORD do sanctify him.

³ And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said to them, "You take too much on you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: Why then lift you up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?

⁵ And it shall come to pass, that the man's rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: And I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you.

²⁸ And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be My priest, to offer upon My altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before Me? And did I give to the house of your father all the offerings made by fire from the children of Israel?

⁴ Blessed is the man whom You choose, and cause to approach to You, that he may dwell in Your courts: We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, even of Your holy temple.

²⁶ He sent Moses His servant; and Aaron whom He had chosen.

⁵ And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers. ⁶ But you shall be named the Priests of the LORD: Men shall call you the Ministers of our God: You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory you yourselves shall boast.

⁴⁶ And the chamber whose view is toward the north is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the altar: These are the sons of Zadok among the sons of Levi, which come near the LORD to minister to Him."

¹⁵ But the priests the Levites, the sons of Zadok, that kept the ordinances of My sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from Me, they shall come near to Me to minister to Me, and they shall stand before Me to offer to Me the fat and the blood", says the Lord GOD: ¹⁶ "They shall enter into My sanctuary, and they shall come near My table, to minister to Me, and they shall keep My ordinances.

¹⁸ Then you all shall return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serves God and him that does not serve Him.

¹⁶ You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bear forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: That whatever you shall ask of the Father in My name, He may give it to you.

² until the day in which He was taken up, after that He gave commandments through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom He had chosen:

²⁴ And they prayed, and said, "You, O Lord, which knows the hearts of all men, show which of these two You have chosen,

¹⁹ Nevertheless the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal: "The Lord knows those that are His." And, "Let everyone that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."

¹⁹ Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, ²⁰ by a new and living way, which He has consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, His flesh; ²¹ and having a High Priest over the house of God; ²² let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

¹⁴ Follow peace with all people, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

⁵ you also, as lively stones, are built up as a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. ⁶ Therefore it is also contained in the scripture, "Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious: And he that believes on Him shall not be confounded." ⁷ Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious: But to those who are disobedient, "The stone which the builders rejected, the same is made the head cornerstone", ⁸ and "A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense", even to those which stumble at the word, being disobedient: For that also they were appointed. ⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light:

⁶ and has made us kings and priests to God and His Father; to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

⁹ And they sang a new song, saying, "You are worthy to take the book, and to open its seals: For You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation; ¹⁰ and have made us kings and priests to our God: And we shall reign on the earth."

¹ And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire in it, and put incense on it, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not.

¹² And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil: ¹³ And he shall put the incense on the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is on the testimony, that he die not:

⁵ And he spoke to Korah and to all his company, saying, "Even tomorrow the LORD will show who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near to him: Even him whom he has chosen will he cause to come near to him.

¹³ But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God has chosen you for salvation from the beginning through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light:

¹⁵ And she said to her, "Is it a small matter that you have taken my husband? And would you also take away my son's mandrakes?" And Rachel said, "He shall therefore lie with you tonight for your son's mandrakes."

⁴¹ And you shall take the Levites for me (I am the LORD) instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel; and the domestic beasts of the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the domestic beasts of the children of Israel. ⁴² And Moses numbered, as the LORD commanded him, all the firstborn among the children of Israel. ⁴³ And all the firstborn males by the number of names, from a month old and upward, of those that were numbered of them, were twenty and two thousand two hundred and three score and thirteen. ⁴⁴ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ⁴⁵ take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel, and the domestic beasts of the Levites instead of their domestic beasts; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the LORD.

¹⁴ Thus shall you separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: And the Levites shall be mine. ¹⁵ And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: And you shall cleanse them, and offer them for an offering. ¹⁶ For they are wholly given to me from among the children of Israel; instead of such as open every womb, even instead of the firstborn of all the children of Israel, have I taken them to me.

¹³ Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land that flows with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, except you make yourself altogether a prince over us?

² And your brothers also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, bring you with you, that they may be joined to you, and minister to you: But you and your sons with you shall minister before the tabernacle of witness. ³ And they shall keep your charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: Only they shall not come near the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor you also, die. ⁴ And they shall be joined to you, and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle: And a stranger shall not come near to you. ⁵ And you shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar: That there be no wrath any more on the children of Israel. ⁶ And I, behold, I have taken your brothers the Levites from among the children of Israel: To you they are given as a gift for the LORD, to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.

⁸ At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to carry the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister to Him, and to bless in His name, to this day.

²³ And Saul's servants spoke those words in the ears of David. And David said, "Does it seem to you a light thing to be a king's son-in-law, seeing that I am a poor man, and lightly esteemed?"

¹⁹ And this was yet a small thing in your sight, O Lord GOD; but you have spoken also of your servant's house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD?

³ and said to the Levites that taught all Israel, which were holy to the LORD, Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel did build; it shall not be a burden on your shoulders: Serve now the LORD your God, and his people Israel,

⁴⁴ And at that time were some appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the offerings, for the firstfruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them out of the fields of the cities the portions of the law for the priests and Levites: For Judah rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites that waited.

¹³ And he said, "Hear now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will you weary my God also?

¹⁸ It seems a small thing to you to have eaten up the good pasture, but must you tread down with your feet the residue of your pastures? And to have drunk of the deep waters, but must you foul the residue with your feet?

¹⁰ And the Levites that have gone far away from Me, when Israel went astray, which went astray away from Me following after their idols; they shall even bear their iniquity. ¹¹ Yet they shall be ministers in My sanctuary, having oversight at the gates of the house, and ministering to the house: They shall slay the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they shall stand before them to minister to them.

³ But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you, or by a man's judgment: Nevertheless I do not judge my own self.

¹⁰ And you shall appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall wait on their priest's office: And the stranger that comes near shall be put to death.

⁷ Therefore you and your sons with you shall keep your priest's office for everything of the altar, and within the veil; and you shall serve: I have given your priest's office to you as a service of gift: And the stranger that comes near shall be put to death.

¹⁰ Only by pride comes contention: But with the well advised is wisdom.

²¹ And He said to her, "What do you desire?" She said to Him, "Grant that these two sons of mine may sit, the one on Your right hand, and the other on the left, in Your kingdom." ²² And Jesus answered and said, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" They said to Him, "We are able."

²⁴ Moreover there also was strife among them, as to which of them should be deemed the greatest.

¹⁰ Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another;

³ Let nothing be done through strife or vain-glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves.

⁹ I wrote to the church: But Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, does not receive us.

⁷ And in the morning, you shall then see the glory of the LORD; for He hears your murmurings against the LORD: And what are we, that you murmur against us?" ⁸ And Moses said, "This shall be, when the LORD gives you flesh to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to the full; for the LORD hears your murmurings which you murmur against Him: And what are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD."

² For this reason the people chided with Moses, and said, "Give us water that we may drink." And Moses said to them, "Why do you chide with me? For which reason do you tempt the LORD?"

⁷ And the LORD said to Samuel, "Hearken to the voice of the people in all that they say to you: For they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.

¹⁶ He who hears you hears Me; he who despises you despises Me; and he who despises Me despises Him that sent Me."

²⁰ Truly, truly, I say to you, He that receives whomever I send receives Me; and he that receives Me receives Him that sent Me."

⁴ While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own power? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God."

² Therefore whoever resists the power, resists the ordinance of God: And those who resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

⁵ Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom you believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?

¹⁰ Nor murmur, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

⁹ If a wise man contends with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.

⁵ And the people shall be oppressed, everyone by another, and everyone by his neighbor: The child shall himself behave proudly against the elderly, and the vile against the honorable.

¹³ Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: Whether it be to the king, as supreme; ¹⁴ or to governors, as to those that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of those that do well.

⁸ Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise government, and speak evil of dignitaries.

¹¹ Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.

²² And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, "Every son that is born you shall cast into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive."

¹⁴ And he said, "Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian?" And Moses feared, and said, "Surely this thing is known."

²³ And it came to pass in the process of time, that the king of Egypt died: And the children of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up to God because of the bondage.

³ And the children of Israel said to them, "We wish to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we ate bread to the full; for you have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger."

³ And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, "Is it for this reason that you have brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our domestic beasts with thirst?"

⁵ We remember the fish, which we ate in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic:

² And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: And the whole congregation said to them, "Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or would God we had died in this wilderness!

³ And the people strived with Moses, and spoke, saying, "Would God that we had died when our brothers died before the LORD! ⁴ And why have you brought up the congregation of the LORD into this wilderness, that we and our domestic beasts should die there?

² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against His anointed, saying, ³ "Let us break their bands apart, and cast away their cords from us."

¹⁴ But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, 'We will not have this man to reign over us.'

²⁵ For he supposed that his brethren would have understood that by his hand God would deliver them: But they did not understand. ²⁶ And the next day he showed himself to them as they fought, and would have reconciled them as one again, saying, 'Sirs, you are brethren; why do you wrong one another?' ²⁷ But he who did his neighbor wrong thust him away, saying, 'Who made you a ruler and a judge over us?

³⁵ "This Moses whom they refused, saying, 'Who made you a ruler and a judge?' is the same that God sent to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.

⁸ and I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and a large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey; to the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

¹⁷ And I have said, 'I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, to a land flowing with milk and honey.' " '

⁵ If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his domestic beast, and shall feed in another man's field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, he shall make restitution.

¹¹ But the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie still; that the poor of your people may eat: And what they leave the wild beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner you shall deal with your vineyard, and with your olive grove.

²⁴ But I have said to you, You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess it, a land that flows with milk and honey: I am the LORD your God, which have separated you from other people.

⁵ And why have you made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in to this evil place? It is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.

⁸ And every daughter, that possesses an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel, shall be wife to one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may enjoy every man the inheritance of his fathers. ⁹ Neither shall the inheritance remove from one tribe to another tribe; but every one of the tribes of the children of Israel shall keep himself to his own inheritance. ¹⁰ Even as the LORD commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad:

²¹ But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.

² And Nahash the Ammonite answered them, "On this condition I will make a covenant with you, that I may thrust out all your right eyes, and make it as a reproach upon all Israel."

⁴ And Abel, he also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of its fat. And the LORD had respect to Abel and to his offering: ⁵ But to Cain and to his offering He did not have respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

¹⁹ And it came to pass, as soon as he came near the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: And Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tablets out of his hands, and broke them beneath the mount.

³ (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were on the face of the earth).

⁶ This do; Take you censers, Korah, and all his company; ⁷ and put fire in it, and put incense in them before the LORD tomorrow: And it shall be that the man whom the LORD does choose, he shall be holy: You take too much on you, you sons of Levi.

³ Behold, here I am: Witness against me before the LORD, and before his anointed: Whose ox have I taken? Or whose donkey have I taken? Or whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed? Or from whose hand have I received any bribe to blind my eyes with it? And I will restore it to you. ⁴ And they said, "You have not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither have you taken anything owed from any man's hand."

¹⁰ Hear the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom; give ear to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah. ¹¹ "To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me?" said the LORD: "I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of he-goats. ¹² When you come to appear before Me, who has required this at your hand, to tread My courts? ¹³ Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination to Me; the new moons and Sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away endure; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. ¹⁴ My soul hates your new moons and your appointed feasts: They are a trouble to me; I am weary to bear them. ¹⁵ And when you spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you: Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear: Your hands are full of blood.

²² But I say to you, That whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: And whoever shall say to his brother, 'You vain fellow' shall be in danger of the council: But whoever says, 'You fool', shall be in danger of hell fire.

⁵ And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved because of the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, "Stretch forth your hand." And he stretched it out; and his hand was restored whole like the other.

³³ I have coveted no one's silver, or gold, or apparel. ³⁴ Yes, you yourselves know that these hands have served for my necessities, and for those that were with me.

¹⁵ But I have used none of these things: Neither have I written these things, that it should be done to me: For it would be better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.

¹² For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly toward you.

² Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man.

¹⁴ Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: For I do not seek yours, but you: For the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. ¹⁵ And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved. ¹⁶ But be that as it may, I did not burden you: Nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile. ¹⁷ Did I gain an advantage over you by any of those whom I sent to you?

²⁶ "Be angry, and do not sin": Do not let the sun go down upon your wrath:

¹⁰ You are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we ourselves behaved among you who believe:

³ Behold, here I am: Witness against me before the LORD, and before his anointed: Whose ox have I taken? Or whose donkey have I taken? Or whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed? Or from whose hand have I received any bribe to blind my eyes with it? And I will restore it to you.

⁷ Now therefore stand still, that I may reason with you before the LORD of all the righteous acts of the LORD, which He did to you and to your fathers.

¹⁴ Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

⁷ And in the morning, you shall then see the glory of the LORD; for He hears your murmurings against the LORD: And what are we, that you murmur against us?"

¹⁰ And it came to pass, as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud.

⁶ And Moses said, "This is the thing which the LORD commanded that you should do: And the glory of the LORD shall appear to you.

²³ And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of the congregation, and came out, and blessed the people: And the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people.

⁵ And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: And they both came forth.

¹⁰ But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.

¹ Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men: ² And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown:

⁴² And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: And behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD appeared.

¹⁵ And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, "Arise, take your wife, and your two daughters, which are here; lest you be consumed in the iniquity of the city." ¹⁶ And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful to him: And they brought him forth, and set him outside the city. ¹⁷ And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, "Escape for your life; do not look behind you, neither stay anywhere in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest you be consumed." ¹⁸ And Lot said to them, "Oh, not so, my Lord: ¹⁹ Behold now, your servant has found grace in your sight, and you have magnified your mercy, which you have shown to me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die: ²⁰ Behold now, this city is near to flee to, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape to that place, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live. ²¹ And he said to him, "See, I have accepted you concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for which you have spoken. ²² Make haste, escape to that city; for I cannot do anything until you have come to that place." Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

¹⁰ Now therefore let Me alone, that My wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: And I will make a great nation of you."

⁵ For the LORD had said to Moses, "Say to the children of Israel, 'You are a stiff-necked people: I will come up into the midst of you in a moment, and consume you: Now therefore put off your ornaments from you, that I may know what to do to you.' "

¹² I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of you a greater nation and mightier than they.

¹⁵ Now if you shall kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of you will speak, saying,

¹⁹ How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors.

³⁶ Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and eighty and five thousand: And when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

¹⁶ Their quiver is as an open sepulcher, they are all mighty men.

⁴⁰ And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Save yourselves from this crooked generation."

¹⁷ Therefore "Come out from among them, and be separate, says the Lord, and do not touch the unclean thing; and I will receive you",

⁶ Let no man deceive you with vain words: For because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the children of disobedience. ⁷ Therefore do not be partakers with them.

²⁸ Therefore, we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: ²⁹ For our God is a consuming fire.

⁴ And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, "Come out of her, my people, that you are not partakers of her sins, and that you do not receive of her plagues.

²³ And Abraham drew near, and said, "Will you also destroy the righteous with the wicked? ²⁴ Peradventure there are fifty righteous within the city: Will you also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are in it? ²⁵ Far be it from You to do hurt in this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: And that the righteous should be as the wicked, far be it from You: Shall the Judge of all the earth not do right?"

³² And he said, "Oh let not the LORD be angry, and I will yet speak but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there." And He said, "I will not destroy it for ten's sake."

⁴ And when Moses heard it, he fell on his face:

¹⁶ let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,

¹ But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: For Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: And the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel. ² And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Bethaven, on the east of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, "Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai. ³ And they returned to Joshua, and said to him, "Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labor thither; for they are but few. ⁴ So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: And they fled before the men of Ai. ⁵ And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: For they chased them from before the gate even to Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: Why the hearts of the people melted, and became as water. ⁶ And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the LORD until the evening, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads. ⁷ And Joshua said, "Alas, O LORD God, why have you at all brought this people over the Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? Would to God we had been content, and dwelled on the other side of the Jordan! ⁸ O LORD, what shall I say, "when Israel turns their backs before their enemies! ⁹ For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: And what will you do to your great name? ¹⁰ And the LORD said to Joshua, "Get you up; why lie you thus on your face? ¹¹ Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them: For they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff. ¹² Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: Neither will I be with you any more, except you destroy the accursed from among you. ¹³ Up, sanctify the people, and say, "Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow: For thus says the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of you, O Israel: You cannot stand before your enemies, until you take away the accursed thing from among you. ¹⁴ In the morning therefore you shall be brought according to your tribes: And it shall be, that the tribe which the LORD takes shall come according to its families; and the family which the LORD shall take shall come by households; and the household which the LORD shall take shall come man by man. ¹⁵ And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he has: Because he has transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he has worked folly in Israel. ¹⁶ So Joshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Israel by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken: ¹⁷ And he brought the family of Judah; and he took the family of the Zarhites: And he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man; and Zabdi was taken: ¹⁸ And he brought his household man by man; and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken. ¹⁹ And Joshua said to Achan, "My son, give, I implore you, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession to him; and tell me now what you have done; hide it not from me. ²⁰ And Achan answered Joshua, and said, "Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done: ²¹ When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and behold, they are hid in the earth in the middle of my tent, and the silver under it. ²² So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent; and behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it. ²³ And they took them out of the middle of the tent, and brought them to Joshua, and to all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the LORD. ²⁴ And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his donkeys, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: And they brought them to the valley of Achor. ²⁵ And Joshua said, "Why have you troubled us? The LORD shall trouble you this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones. ²⁶ And they raised over him a great heap of stones to this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Why the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, to this day.

¹ And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, "Go, number Israel and Judah.

¹⁷ And David spoke to the LORD when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, "Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: But these sheep, what have they done? Let Your hand, I implore You, be against me, and against my father's house."

¹⁰ In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

⁷ Then the dust shall return to the earth as it was: And the spirit shall return to God who gave it.

¹⁶ For I will not contend forever, neither will I always be wroth: For the spirit would fail before Me, and the souls which I have made.

¹ The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, says the LORD, which stretches forth the heavens, and lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him.

¹⁸ Therefore, as by the offense of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of One the free gift came upon all men to justification of life.

⁷ bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

⁹ Furthermore, we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: Should we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live?

²¹ separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.

¹⁶ And the LORD said to Moses, "Gather to me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them to the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with you. ¹⁷ And I will come down and talk with you there: And I will take of the spirit which is on you, and will put it on them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you bear it not yourself alone.

²⁵ And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the spirit that was on him, and gave it to the seventy elders: And it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested on them, they prophesied, and did not cease.

³⁰ And Moses got him into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.

¹² And the men said to Lot, "Do you have anyone here beside yourselves? Son-in-law, and your sons, and your daughters, and whatever you have in the city, bring them out of this place: ¹³ For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them has waxed great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD has sent us to destroy it." ¹⁴ And Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, which married his daughters, and said, "Rise up, get out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city." But he seemed as one that mimicks in derision to his sons-in-law. ¹⁵ And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, "Arise, take your wife, and your two daughters, which are here; lest you be consumed in the iniquity of the city."

²¹ separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment. ²² And they fell upon their faces, and said, "O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and will you be wroth with all the congregation? ²³ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ²⁴ speak to the congregation, saying, "Get you up from about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.

¹⁷ And there shall stick nothing of the cursed thing to your hand: That the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and show you mercy, and have compassion on you, and multiply you, as he has sworn to your fathers;

¹¹ Depart all of you, depart, go out from there, touch no unclean thing; go out of the midst of her; be clean, you who bear the vessels of the LORD.

¹⁴ And whoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.

²⁰ But Peter said to him, "Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

⁵¹ But they shook off the dust from their feet against them, and came to Iconium.

²² Do not suddenly lay hands on any man, neither be a partaker of other man's sins: Keep yourself pure.

³⁰ And when Jehu had come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window. ³¹ And as Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, "Had Zimri peace, who slew his master?

⁴ He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: Who has hardened himself against him, and has prospered?

¹⁰ Deck yourself now with majesty and excellency; and array yourself with glory and beauty. ¹¹ Cast abroad the rage of your wrath: And behold everyone that is proud, and abase him.

¹⁸ Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

¹² Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honor is humility.

¹⁴ Why hear the word of the LORD, you scornful men, that rule this people who are in Jerusalem.

¹² And He said, "Certainly I will be with you; and this shall be a token sign to you, that I have sent you: When you have brought forth the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God upon this mountain."

¹ And Moses answered and said, "But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken to my voice: For they will say, 'The LORD has not appeared to you.' " ² And the LORD said to him, "What is that in your hand?" And he said, "A rod." ³ And he said, "Cast it on the ground." And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it. ⁴ And the LORD said to Moses, "Put forth your hand, and take it by the tail." And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand: ⁵ That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you. ⁶ And the LORD said furthermore to him, "Now put your hand into your bosom." And he put his hand into his bosom: And when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow. ⁷ And He said, "Put your hand into your bosom again." And he put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and behold, it was returned again like his other flesh. ⁸ And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe you, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign. ⁹ And it shall come to pass, if they also will not believe these two signs, neither hearken to your voice, that you shall take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: And the water which you take out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land."

⁹ "When Pharaoh speaks to you, and says, 'Show a miracle for yourselves': Then you shall say to Aaron, 'Take your rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent.' "

¹³ if Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the LORD, to do either good or bad of my own mind; but what the LORD said, "that will I speak?

²² When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken, but the prophet has spoken it presumptuously: You shall not be afraid of him.

³⁶ And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, "LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word.

¹⁶ Thus says the LORD of hosts, "Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you: They make you vain: They speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD.

¹⁷ "Likewise, you son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy against them,

⁹ For behold, I will shake My hand upon them, and they shall be a pillage to their servants: And you all shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me.

⁹ "The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it"; and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you.

³⁰ I can of My own self do nothing: As I hear, I judge: And My judgment is just; because I do not seek My own will, but the will of the Father which has sent Me.

³⁶ But I have a greater witness than that of John: For the works which the Father has given Me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me.

³⁸ For I came down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him that sent Me.

⁴² And I know that You always hear Me: But because of the people which stand by I said this, that they may believe that You have sent Me."

¹¹ Believe Me that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me: Or else believe Me for the sake of the very works themselves.

⁵ You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them: For I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of those that hate Me;

³⁴ Therefore go now, lead the people to the place of which I have spoken to you: Behold, My Angel shall go before you: Nevertheless, in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them."

²⁸ And Micaiah said, "If you return at all in peace, the LORD has not spoken by me. And he said, "Listen, O people, every one of you.

²⁷ And Micaiah said, "If you certainly return in peace, then has not the LORD spoken by me. And he said, "Listen, all you people.

¹⁵ But now, because it is not so, he has visited in his anger; yet he knows it not in great extremity:

¹⁹ For that which befalls the sons of men befalls beasts; even one thing befalls them: As the one dies, so dies the other; yes, they all have one breath; so that a man has no preeminence above a beast: For all is vanity.

³ And what will all of you do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from afar? To whom will you flee for help? And where will you leave your glory?

⁹ Shall I not visit them for these things?" said the LORD: "and shall My soul not be avenged on such a nation as this?

²² The punishment of your iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; He will no longer carry you away into captivity:Hhe will visit your iniquity, O daughter of Edom; He will discover your sins.

³³ They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed on them: And they perished from among the congregation.

³ Is not destruction to the wicked? And a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity?

¹⁵ Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: For wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.

²¹ For the LORD shall rise up as in Mount Perazim, He shall be angry as in the valley of Gibeon, that He may do his work, His strange work; and bring to pass His act, His strange act.

¹⁹ Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

⁷ I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create calamity: I the LORD do all these things.

¹² I have made the earth, and created man on it: I, even My hands, have outstretched heaven, and all their host I have commanded.

²² How long will you go about, O you backsliding daughter? For the LORD has created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man."

¹⁰ And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died, what time the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men: And they became a sign. ¹¹ Notwithstanding the children of Korah died not.

¹⁷ The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram. ¹⁸ And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.

¹¹ And now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened her mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand;

¹⁷ And take every man his censer, and put incense in them, and bring you before the LORD every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers; you also, and Aaron, each of you his censer.

³⁰ But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain to them, and they go down quick into the pit; then you shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD.

¹¹ Notwithstanding the children of Korah died not.

¹⁷ The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.

¹⁴ Therefore hell has enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: And their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoices, shall descend into it.

¹⁶ But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

¹⁵ The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: Their own foot is caught in the net which they hid.

²³ But you, O God, shall bring them down into the pit of destruction: Bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in You.

¹⁵ Do not let the flood waters overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and do not let the pit shut her mouth upon me.

⁷ Hear me speedily, O LORD; my spirit fails: Do not hide Your face from me, lest I be like those that go down into the pit.

⁹ Hell from beneath is moved for you to meet you at your coming: It stirs up the dead for you, even all the chief ones of the earth; it has raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.

¹⁵ Yet you shall be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

¹⁸ "Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, even her, and the daughters of the famous nations, to the lower parts of the earth, with those who go down into the pit.

³⁰ There are the princes of the north, all of them, and all the Zidonians, who have gone down with the slain; with their terror they are ashamed of their might; and they lie uncircumcised with those who are slain by the sword, and bear their shame with those who go down to the pit.

¹² And the children of Israel spoke to Moses, saying, "Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish. ¹³ Whoever comes anything near to the tabernacle of the LORD shall die: Shall we be consumed with dying?

³ At the noise of the tumult the people fled; at the lifting up of Yourself the nations were scattered.

⁵ "And you all shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azal: Yes, you all shall flee, like you all fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah": And the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with You.

¹⁵ And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; ¹⁶ and said to the mountains and rocks, "Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: ¹⁷ For the great day of His wrath has come; and who shall be able to stand?"

² And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.

¹ And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: And the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed those that were in the uttermost parts of the camp. ² And the people cried out to Moses; and when Moses prayed to the LORD, the fire was quenched. ³ And he called the name of the place Taberah: Because the fire of the LORD burnt among them.

² And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown:

¹⁰ And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died, what time the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men: And they became a sign.

¹⁸ And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.

²⁸ Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall devote to the LORD of all that he has, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: Every devoted thing is most holy to the LORD.

¹⁸ And they took every man his censer, and put fire in them, and laid incense on it, and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Moses and Aaron.

⁴⁰ To be a memorial to the children of Israel, that no stranger, which is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the LORD; that he be not as Korah, and as his company: As the LORD said to him by the hand of Moses.

¹⁰ And the LORD said to Moses, "Bring Aaron's rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and you shall quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.

²³ Then king Solomon swore by the LORD, saying, "God do so to me, and more also, if Adonijah have not spoken this word against his own life.

¹⁸ And they lay in wait for their own blood; they lurk privately for their own lives.

³⁶ But he that sins against me wrongs his own soul: All those that hate me love death."

² The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: Whoever provokes him to anger sins against his own soul.

⁸ And I will set My face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of My people; and you shall know that I am the LORD.

¹⁰ You have consulted shame to establish your house by cutting off many people, and have sinned against your soul.

¹¹ Now all these things happened to them as examples: And they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world has come.

⁶ and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them with an overthrow, making them an example to those that afterward would live ungodly;

⁷ And Aaron shall burn sweet incense on it every morning: When he dresses the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it.sweet incense: In Hebrew, incense of spices ⁸ And when Aaron lights the lamps at sunset, he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations. ⁹ You shall offer no strange incense on it, nor burnt sacrifice, nor food offering; neither shall you pour drink offering on it. ¹⁰ And Aaron shall make an atonement upon the horns of it once in a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonements: Once in the year he shall make atonement upon it throughout your generations: It is most holy to the LORD."

¹⁰ There shall no stranger eat of the holy thing: A sojourner of the priest, or a hired servant, shall not eat of the holy thing.

⁵¹ And when the tabernacle sets forward, the Levites shall take it down: And when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: And the stranger that comes near shall be put to death.

³⁸ But those that encamp before the tabernacle toward the east, even before the tabernacle of the congregation eastward, shall be Moses, and Aaron and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the children of Israel; and the stranger that comes near shall be put to death.

⁴ And they shall be joined to you, and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle: And a stranger shall not come near to you. ⁵ And you shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar: That there be no wrath any more on the children of Israel. ⁶ And I, behold, I have taken your brothers the Levites from among the children of Israel: To you they are given as a gift for the LORD, to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation. ⁷ Therefore you and your sons with you shall keep your priest's office for everything of the altar, and within the veil; and you shall serve: I have given your priest's office to you as a service of gift: And the stranger that comes near shall be put to death.

¹ And behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the LORD to Bethel: And Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense. ² And he cried against the altar in the word of the LORD, and said, "O altar, altar, thus says the LORD; Behold, a child shall be born to the house of David, Josiah by name; and on you shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense on you, and men's bones shall be burnt on you. ³ And he gave a sign the same day, saying, "This is the sign which the LORD has spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are on it shall be poured out.

¹⁶ But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: For he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense on the altar of incense. ¹⁷ And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him eighty priests of the LORD, that were valiant men: ¹⁸ And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said to him, "It appertains not to you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: Go out of the sanctuary; for you have trespassed; neither shall it be for your honor from the LORD God. ¹⁹ Then Uzziah was wroth, and had a censer in his hand to burn incense: And while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, from beside the incense altar. ²⁰ And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked on him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from there; yes, himself hurried also to go out, because the LORD had smitten him. ²¹ And Uzziah the king was a leper to the day of his death, and dwelled in a several house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD: And Jotham his son was over the king's house, judging the people of the land.

¹ Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men: ² And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown: ³ And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said to them, "You take too much on you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: Why then lift you up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD? ⁴ And when Moses heard it, he fell on his face: ⁵ And he spoke to Korah and to all his company, saying, "Even tomorrow the LORD will show who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near to him: Even him whom he has chosen will he cause to come near to him.

⁷ And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, you bloody man, and you man of Belial: ⁸ The LORD has returned on you all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead you have reigned; and the LORD has delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom your son: And behold, you are taken in your mischief, because you are a bloody man.

¹⁷ And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him, "Are you he that troubles Israel?

¹³ They soon forgot His works; they did not wait for His counsel:

²³ Therefore He said that He would destroy them, had not Moses His chosen stood before Him in the breach, to turn away His wrath, lest He should destroy them.

²⁵ But murmured in their tents, and did not hearken to the voice of the LORD. ²⁶ Therefore He lifted up His hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness: ²⁷ To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands. ²⁸ They also joined themselves to Baal-Peor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead, ²⁹ thus they provoked Him to anger with their inventions: And the plague broke out upon them. ³⁰ Then Phinehas stood up, and executed judgment: And so the plague was halted. ³¹ And that was counted to him for righteousness to all generations forevermore. ³² They also angered Him at the waters of strife, so that it went badly with Moses for their sakes: ³³ Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spoke unadvisedly with his lips. ³⁴ They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them: ³⁵ But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works. ³⁶ And they served their idols; which were a snare to them. ³⁷ Yes, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to devils, ³⁸ and shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan: And the land was polluted with blood. ³⁹ Thus they were defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions. ⁴⁰ Therefore the wrath of the LORD was kindled against His people, so that He abhorred His own inheritance. ⁴¹ And He gave them into the hand of the heathen; and those who hated them ruled over them. ⁴² Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand. ⁴³ Many times He delivered them; but they provoked Him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity. ⁴⁴ Nevertheless, He regarded their affliction, when He heard their cry: ⁴⁵ And He remembered His covenant for them, and repented according to the multitude of His mercies. ⁴⁶ He made them also to be pitied by all those who carried them captives. ⁴⁷ Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks to Your holy name, and to triumph in Your praise. ⁴⁸ Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: And let all the people say, "Amen." Praise the LORD.

¹¹ LORD, when Your hand is lifted up, they will not see: But they shall see, and be ashamed for their envy of the people; yes, the fire of Your enemies shall devour them.

¹³ And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, "You fall away to the Chaldeans." ¹⁴ Then Jeremiah said, "It is false; I do not fall away to the Chaldeans." But he did not listen to him: So Irijah took Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.

⁴ Therefore the princes said to the king, "We beseech you, let this man be put to death: For thus he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words to them: For this man seeks not the welfare of this people, but the hurt."

³ But Baruch the son of Neriah sets you against us, to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they might put us to death, and carry us away captives into Babylon."

¹⁰ Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, "Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel: The land is not able to bear all his words.

¹¹ Blessed are you when men revile you, persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for My sake.

²⁸ saying, "Did we not strictly command you that you should not teach in this name? And behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man's blood upon us."

²⁸ crying out, "Men of Israel, help: This is the man that teaches all men everywhere against the people, and the law, and this place: And furthermore also brought Greeks into the temple, and has polluted this holy place."

⁸ by honor and dishonor, by evil report and good report: As deceivers, and yet true;

¹⁶ And the glory of the LORD abode upon Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: And the seventh day He called to Moses from out of the middle of the cloud.

³⁴ Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. ³⁵ And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

¹⁹ And Korah gathered all the congregation against them to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: And the glory of the LORD appeared to all the congregation.

¹⁶ And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand outstretched over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell on their faces.

³⁹ And He went a little further, fell on His face, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me: Nevertheless not as I will, but as You will."

²⁴ And there came a fire out from before the LORD, and consumed on the altar the burnt offering and the fat: Which when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces.

⁶ And Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest you die, and lest wrath come on all the people: But let your brothers, the whole house of Israel, mourn the burning which the LORD has kindled.

¹¹ And Aaron shall bring the bull of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bull of the sin offering which is for himself: ¹² And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil: ¹³ And he shall put the incense on the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is on the testimony, that he die not: ¹⁴ And he shall take of the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times. ¹⁵ Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat: ¹⁶ And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: And so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remains among them in the middle of their uncleanness.

¹⁹ And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an atonement for the children of Israel: That there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come near to the sanctuary.

³³ And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague.

⁵ And you shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar: That there be no wrath any more on the children of Israel.

¹³ And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel.

²² And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibrothhattaavah, you provoked the LORD to wrath.

²⁴ Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but he finished not, because there fell wrath for it against Israel; neither was the number put in the account of the chronicles of king David.

²⁹ thus they provoked Him to anger with their inventions: And the plague broke out upon them.

² Let my prayer be set forth before You as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

⁶ Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: ⁷ And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, "See, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away, and your sin purged."

¹¹ For from the rising of the sun even to the going down of the same, My name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered to My name, and a pure offering: For My name shall be great among the heathen", says the LORD of hosts.

⁹ Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. ¹⁰ For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

²⁵ Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those that come to God by Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. ²⁶ For such a High Priest suited us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; ²⁷ who needs not offer up daily sacrifice, as those high priests did, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: For this He did once, when He offered up Himself.

²⁵ Nor yet that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters into the holy place every year with blood of others; ²⁶ for then he must have often suffered since the foundation of the world: But now once in the end of the world He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

¹ My little children, these things I write to you so that you do not sin. And if any man sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: ² And He is the propitiation for our sins: And not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

³ Then another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given to him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. ⁴ And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand. ⁵ And the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and cast it into the earth: And there were voices, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.

⁴⁶ And Moses said to Aaron, "Take a censer, and put fire in it from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly to the congregation, and make an atonement for them: For there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun.

⁶ And behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought to his brothers a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. ⁷ And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand; ⁸ and he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.

¹⁰ They shall teach Jacob your judgments, and Israel your law: They shall put incense before you, and whole burnt sacrifice on your altar. ¹¹ Bless, LORD, his substance, and accept the work of his hands; smite through the loins of those that rise against him, and of those that hate him, that they rise not again.

¹⁰ Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief: When you shall make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand. ¹¹ He shall see of the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied: By His knowledge my righteous servant shall justify many; for He shall bear their iniquities. ¹² Therefore I will divide to Him a portion with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong; because He has poured out His soul to death: And He was numbered with the transgressors; and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

⁴⁴ But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless those that curse you, do good to those that hate you, and pray for those who despitefully use you, and persecute you;

²¹ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

³⁵ And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.

⁸ and he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel. ⁹ And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand. ¹⁰ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ¹¹ phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, has turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy.

¹⁶ And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: Stay now your hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshing place of Araunah the Jebusite. ¹⁷ And David spoke to the LORD when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, "Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: But these sheep, what have they done? Let Your hand, I implore You, be against me, and against my father's house."

²⁵ And David built an altar to the LORD there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the LORD was entreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.

³⁰ Then Phinehas stood up, and executed judgment: And so the plague was halted.

¹⁴ Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, "Behold, you are made whole: Sin no more, lest a worse thing come to you."

¹⁰ and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

⁵ For there is one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus; ⁶ who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

²⁴ But this Man, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. ²⁵ Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those that come to God by Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

¹⁶ Confess your faults to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

³² And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained to Korah, and all their goods. ³³ They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed on them: And they perished from among the congregation. ³⁴ And all Israel that were all around them fled at the cry of them: For they said, "Lest the earth swallow us up also. ³⁵ And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.

⁹ And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand.

¹⁴ So the LORD sent pestilence on Israel: And there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.

¹ Therefore we ought to give more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. ² For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward; ³ how shall we escape, if we neglect such great salvation; which at first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those that heard Him;

²⁸ He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: ²⁹ Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, shall he be thought worthy, who has tread underfoot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has extreme malice toward the Spirit of grace?

²⁵ See that you do not refuse Him that speaks. For if those who refused 'Him that spoke on earth' did not escape, much more we shall not escape, if we turn away from Him that speaks from heaven:

⁴³ And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation.

²⁶ And David built an altar to the LORD there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called on the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire on the altar of burnt offering. ²⁷ And the LORD commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into its sheath. ²⁸ At that time when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there. ²⁹ For the tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt offering, were at that season in the high place at Gibeon. ³⁰ But David could not go before it to inquire of God: For he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of the LORD.
