⁶ And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: See that you are not troubled: For all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

¹ A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ² When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came on me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. ³ Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: Though war should rise against me, in this I will be confident.

¹ To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. ² Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; ³ though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah.

⁷ He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: His heart is stable, trusting in the LORD.

¹² "Do not answer, 'A conspiracy', to all those of whom this people shall suppose, 'A conspiracy'; neither should you fear their terribleness, nor be afraid. ¹³ Sanctify the LORD of hosts Himself; and let Him be your fear, and let Him be your dread. ¹⁴ And He shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offense to both the houses of Israel, for a trap and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

² Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: For the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; He also has become my salvation.

³ You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You: Because he trusts in You. ⁴ Trust in the LORD forever: For in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

²⁰ Come, My people, enter into your chambers, and shut your doors behind you: Hide yourself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation pass over. ²¹ For, behold, the LORD comes out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: The earth also shall disclose her blood, and will no longer cover her slain.

¹⁹ My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart makes a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because you have heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war. ²⁰ Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled: Suddenly my tents are spoiled, and my curtains in a moment. ²¹ How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet? ²² "For my people are foolish, they have not known Me; they are silly children, and they have no understanding: They are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge."

²² Thus says the LORD, "Behold, a people comes from the north country, and a great nation shall be raised from the sides of the earth. ²³ They shall lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roars like the sea; and they ride on horses, as men of war set in array against you, O daughter of Zion. ²⁴ We have heard the fame of it: Our hands wax feeble: Anguish has taken hold of us, and pain, as of a woman in travail.

¹⁵ We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold trouble! ¹⁶ The snorting of His horses was heard from Dan: The whole land trembled at the sound of the neighing of His strong ones; for they have come, and have devoured the land, and all that is in it; the city, and those that dwell in it.

⁶ O sword of the LORD, how long will it be before you are quiet? Put yourself into your sheath, rest, and be still.

²⁴ Therefore I will bring the worst of the heathen, and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the pomp of the strong to cease; and their holy places shall be defiled. ²⁵ Destruction comes; and they shall seek peace, and there shall be none. ²⁶ Mischief shall come upon mischief, and rumor shall be upon rumor; then they shall seek a vision of the prophet; but the law shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the elders.

¹⁷ Or if I bring a sword on that land, and say, 'Sword, go through the land'; so that I cut off man and beast from it: ¹⁸ Though these three men were in it, as I live", said the Lord GOD, "they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but only they themselves shall be delivered. ¹⁹ Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out My fury on it in blood, to cut off man and beast from it: ²⁰ Though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live", said the Lord GOD, "they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall deliver only their own souls by their righteousness." ²¹ For thus says the Lord GOD; "How much more when I send My four sore judgments on Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off man and beast from it?

⁹ "Son of man, prophesy, and say, 'Thus says the LORD'; Say, 'A sword, a sword is sharpened, and also furbished: ¹⁰ It is sharpened to make a severe slaughter; it is furbished that it may glitter: Should we then make mirth? It scorns the rod of My son, as every tree. ¹¹ And He has given it to be furbished, that it may be handled: This sword is sharpened, and it is furbished, to give it into the hand of the slayer.' ¹² Cry and howl, son of man: For it shall be on My people, it shall be on all the princes of Israel: Terrors by reason of the sword shall be on My people: Therefore smite on your thigh. ¹³ Because it is a trial, and what if the sword scorn even the rod? It shall be no more", said the Lord GOD. ¹⁴ "You therefore, son of man, prophesy, and strike your hands together. And let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the slain: It is the sword of the great men who are slain, which enters into their private chambers. ¹⁵ I have set the point of the sword against all their gates, that their heart may faint, and their ruins be multiplied: Ah! It is made bright, it is wrapped up for the slaughter.

²⁸ And you, son of man, prophesy and say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD concerning the Ammonites, and concerning their reproach'; even say, 'The sword, the sword is drawn: It is furbished for the slaughter, to consume because of the glittering:

²⁴ Seventy weeks are determined upon your people and upon your holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy. ²⁵ Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem to the Messiah the Prince, shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks: The street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. ²⁶ And after sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself: And the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end of it shall be with a flood, and until the end of the war desolations are determined. ²⁷ And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: And in the middle of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that which is determined shall be poured upon the desolate."

¹ "Also I, in the first year of Darius the Mede, even I, stood to confirm and to strengthen him. ² And now I will show you the truth. Behold, there shall yet stand up three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than all of them: And by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Greece. ³ And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will. ⁴ And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his descendants, nor according to his dominion with which he ruled: For his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others besides those. ⁵ And the king of the south shall be strong, and one of his princes; and he shall be strong above him, and have dominion; his dominion shall be a great dominion. ⁶ And in the end of years they shall join themselves together; for the king's daughter of the south shall come to the king of the north to make an agreement: But she shall not retain the power of the arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm: But she shall be given up, and those who brought her, and he who begat her, and he who strengthened her in these times. ⁷ But out of a branch of her roots one shall stand up in his estate, who shall come with an army, and shall enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and shall deal against them, and shall prevail: ⁸ And shall also carry captives into Egypt, their gods, with their princes, and with their precious vessels of silver and of gold; and he shall continue more years than the king of the north. ⁹ So the king of the south shall come into his kingdom, and shall return into his own land. ¹⁰ But his sons shall be stirred up, and shall assemble a multitude of great forces: And one shall certainly come, and overflow, and pass through: Then he shall return, and be stirred up, even to his fortress. ¹¹ And the king of the south shall be moved with choler, and shall come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the north: And he shall set forth a great multitude; but the multitude shall be given into his hand. ¹² And when he has taken away the multitude, his heart shall be lifted up; and he shall cast down many tens of thousands: But he shall not be strengthened by it. ¹³ For the king of the north shall return, and shall set forth a multitude greater than the former, and after some years shall certainly come with a great army and with much riches. ¹⁴ And in those times there shall stand up many against the king of the south: Also the robbers of your people shall exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall fall. ¹⁵ So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mount, and take the most fenced cities: And the arms of the south shall not withstand, nor his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to withstand. ¹⁶ But he who comes against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him: And he shall stand in the glorious land, which shall be consumed by his hand. ¹⁷ He also shall set his face to enter with the strength of his whole kingdom, and upright ones with him; thus he shall do: And he shall give him the daughter of women, corrupting her: But she shall not stand on his side, nor be for him. ¹⁸ After this he shall turn his face to the isles, and shall take many: But a prince on his own behalf shall cause the reproach offered by him to cease; without his own reproach he shall cause it to turn upon him. ¹⁹ Then he shall turn his face toward the fort of his own land: But he shall stumble and fall, and not be found. ²⁰ Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom: But within a few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle. ²¹ And in his estate a vile person shall stand up, to whom they shall not give the honor of the kingdom: But he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries. ²² And with the arms of a flood they shall be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yes, also the prince of the covenant. ²³ And after the league is made with him he shall work deceitfully: For he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people. ²⁴ He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: Yes, and he shall forecast his devices against the strongholds, even for a time. ²⁵ And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand: For they shall forecast devices against him. ²⁶ Yes, those who feed from the portion of his food shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow: And many shall fall down slain. ²⁷ And both these kings' hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies to each other at one table; but it shall not prosper: For the end shall still be at the time appointed. ²⁸ Then he shall return into his land with great riches; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do exploits, and return to his own land. ²⁹ At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former, nor as the latter. ³⁰ For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: Therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: So he shall do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsakes the holy covenant. ³¹ And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that makes desolate. ³² And he shall corrupt by flatteries those who do wickedly against the covenant: But the people that know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. ³³ And those who understand among the people shall instruct many: Yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days. ³⁴ Now when they fall, they shall be assisted with a little help: But many shall cleave to them with flatteries. ³⁵ And some of them of understanding shall fall, to purify them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: Because it is yet for an appointed time. ³⁶ And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper until the indignation is accomplished: For that which is determined shall be done. ³⁷ He shall not regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: For he shall magnify himself above all. ³⁸ But in his estate he shall honor the god of forces: And a god whom his fathers did not know shall he honor with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things. ³⁹ Thus he shall perform in the greatest strongholds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: And he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain. ⁴⁰ And at the time of the end the king of the south shall push at him: And the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over. ⁴¹ He shall also enter into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: But these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon. ⁴² He shall also stretch forth his hand upon the countries: And the land of Egypt shall not escape. ⁴³ But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: And the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps. ⁴⁴ But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: Therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and to utterly slay. ⁴⁵ And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him."

¹⁶ When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: Rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: When he comes up to the people, he will invade them with his troops. ¹⁷ Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no food; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: ¹⁸ Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

¹⁴ And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness to all nations; and then the end shall come.

⁵⁴ But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen in this manner?"

⁷ And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled: For such things must come to pass; but the end shall not be yet. ⁸ For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And there shall be earthquakes in diverse places, and there shall be famines and troubles: These are the beginnings of sorrows.

⁹ But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified: For these things must first come to pass; but the end is not immediately."

¹⁹ In your patience you possess your souls.

³⁷ For I say to you, That this which is written must still be accomplished in Me, 'And He was counted among the transgressors': For the things concerning Me have an end."

¹ "Let not your heart be troubled: You believe in God, believe also in Me.

²⁷ Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you: Not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

²⁴ saying, 'Fear not, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar: And look, God has given you all those who sail with you.' ²⁵ Therefore, sirs, be of good cheer: For I believe God, that it shall be just as it was told to me. ²⁶ Nevertheless, we must be cast upon a certain island."

² that you be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by a letter as one from us, as though the Day of Christ is at hand.

¹⁴ But even if you suffer for righteousness' sake, you are happier: "And do not be afraid of their terror, neither be troubled"; ¹⁵ But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: And always be ready to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason for the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
