¹ And He arose from that place, and came into the borders of Judea by the far side of the Jordan: And the people went with Him again; and as He was accustomed to, He taught them with repetition. ² Then the Pharisees came to Him, and asked Him, "Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife?" testing Him. ³ And He answered and said to them, "What did Moses command you?" ⁴ And they said, "Moses permitted to write a certificate of divorce, and to put her away." ⁵ And Jesus answered and said to them, "For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. ⁶ But from the beginning of the creation God 'made them male and female.' ⁷ For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; ⁸ and the two shall be one flesh: So then they are no longer two, but one flesh. ⁹ Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate." ¹⁰ And in the house His disciples asked Him again about the same matter. ¹¹ And He said to them, "Whoever puts away his wife, and marries another, commits adultery against her. ¹² And if a woman puts away her husband, and marries another, she commits adultery." ¹³ Then they brought young children to Him, that He should touch them; and His disciples rebuked those who brought them. ¹⁴ But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased, and said to them, "Permit the little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them: For of such is the kingdom of God. ¹⁵ Truly I say to you, Whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter into it." ¹⁶ And He took them up in His arms, put His hands upon them, and blessed them. ¹⁷ And when He had gone forth into the roadway, there came one running, and he kneeled to Him, and asked Him, "Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?" ¹⁸ And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? There is none good, except One, that is, God. ¹⁹ You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery', 'Do not kill', 'Do not steal', 'Do not bear false witness', 'Do not defraud', 'Honor your father and your mother.' " ²⁰ And he answered and said to Him, "Master, I have observed all these from my youth." ²¹ Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: And come, take up the cross, and follow Me." ²² And he was sad at that word, and went away grieved: For he had great possessions. ²³ Then Jesus looked around, and said to His disciples, "How hardly shall those that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!" ²⁴ And the disciples were astonished at His words. But Jesus answered again, and said to them, "Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! ²⁵ It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." ²⁶ And they were exceedingly astonished, saying among themselves, "Who then can be saved?" ²⁷ Now Jesus looking upon them said, "With men it is impossible, but not with God: For with God all things are possible." ²⁸ Then Peter began to say to Him, "Look, we have left all, and have followed You." ²⁹ And Jesus answered and said, "Truly I say to you, There is no man who has left house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for My sake, and the gospel's, ³⁰ but he shall receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brothers, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. ³¹ But many that are first shall be last; and the last first." ³² Now they were on the road going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: And they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. Then He took the twelve again, and began to tell them what things would happen to Him, ³³ saying, "Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man shall be delivered to the chief priests, and to the scribes; and they shall condemn Him to death, and shall deliver Him to the Gentiles: ³⁴ And they shall mock Him, and shall scourge Him, and shall spit upon Him, and shall kill Him: And the third day He shall rise again." ³⁵ Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Him, saying, "Master, we would like that You do for us whatever we desire." ³⁶ And He said to them, "What do you will that I should do for you?" ³⁷ They said to Him, "Grant to us that we may sit, one on Your right hand, and the other on Your left hand, in Your glory." ³⁸ But Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you ask: Can you drink of the cup that I drink of? And be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" ³⁹ And they said to Him, "We can." And Jesus said to them, "You shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and you shall be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: ⁴⁰ But to sit on My right hand and on My left hand is not Mine to give; but it shall be given to those for whom it is prepared." ⁴¹ And when the ten heard it, they began to be greatly displeased with James and John. ⁴² But Jesus called them to Him, and said to them, "You know that those who are deemed to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. ⁴³ But it shall not be so among you: Indeed whoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: ⁴⁴ And whoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. ⁴⁵ For even the Son of Man did not come to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many." ⁴⁶ And they came to Jericho: Then as He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a large number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the side of the highway begging. ⁴⁷ And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me." ⁴⁸ And many charged him that he should hold his peace: But he cried out a great deal more, "Son of David, have mercy on me." ⁴⁹ Then Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they called the blind man, saying to him, "Be of good comfort, rise; He calls for you." ⁵⁰ And casting away his garment, he rose, and came to Jesus. ⁵¹ And Jesus answered and said to him, "What do you will that I should do to you?" The blind man said to Him, "Lord, that I may receive my sight." ⁵² Then Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your faith has made you whole." And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus on the road.

⁹ And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yes, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.

³³ And they have turned the back to Me, and not the face: Though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not listened to receive instruction.

²³ Then Jesus went all around Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all sorts of disease among the people.

¹ And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, that He departed from Galilee, and came inside the borders of Judea beyond the Jordan; ² And large multitudes followed Him; and He healed them there. ³ The Pharisees also came to Him, tempting Him, and saying to Him, "Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?" ⁴ And He answered and said to them, "Have you not read, that He which made them at the beginning 'made them male and female', ⁵ and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: And those two shall be one flesh?' ⁶ For which reason they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let not man separate." ⁷ They said to Him, "Why then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?" ⁸ He said to them, "Moses permitted you to put away your wives because of the hardness of your hearts: But from the beginning it was not so. ⁹ And I say to you, Whoever puts away his wife, except if it be for fornication, and marries another, commits adultery: And whoever marries her that is put away commits adultery." ¹⁰ His disciples said to Him, "If this is the case for a man with his wife, it is not good to marry." ¹¹ But He said to them, "Not all men can receive this saying, except those to whom it is given. ¹² For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: And there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs by men: And there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it."

¹³ Then He went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude accompanied Him, and He taught them.

² Then He taught them many things by parables, and said to them in His doctrine,

⁶ And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went all around the villages, teaching.

³⁴ And Jesus, when He came out, saw many people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: And He began to teach them many things.

⁴⁰ and He went away again beyond the Jordan into the place where John first baptized; and there He abode.

⁷ Then after that He said to His disciples, "Let us go to Judea again."

²⁰ Jesus answered him, "I spoke openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, where the Jews always assemble; and in secret I have said nothing.

¹⁶ For the LORD, the God of Israel, says that He hates putting away: "For one covers violence with his garment", says the LORD of hosts: "Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you all do not deal treacherously."

³¹ It has been said, 'Whoever puts away his wife, let him give her a written petition of divorce': ³² But I say to you, That whoever puts away his wife, except for the cause of fornication, causes her to commit adultery: And whoever marries her that is divorced commits adultery.

³⁴ But the Pharisees said, "He casts out devils through the prince of the devils."

¹² Then His disciples came, and said to Him, "Do you know that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?"

¹ The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting Him they asked that He would show them a sign from heaven.

³ The Pharisees also came to Him, tempting Him, and saying to Him, "Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?"

³⁵ Then one of them, who was a lawyer, asked Him a question, tempting Him, and saying,

¹³ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: For you neither go in yourselves, nor do you permit those who are entering to go in.

¹¹ And the Pharisees came forth, and began questioning with Him, seeking a sign from heaven of Him, tempting Him.

¹⁵ And He charged them, saying, "Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod."

³⁰ But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against His disciples, saying, "Why do You eat and drink with publicans and sinners?"

⁷ Moreover the scribes and Pharisees watched Him, whether He would heal on the Sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against Him.

³⁰ But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, not being baptized by him.

³⁹ And the Lord said to him, "Now you Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness.

⁵³ And as He said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to quarrel against Him vehemently, and to provoke Him to speak of many things: ⁵⁴ Lying in wait for Him, and seeking to catch something out of His mouth, that they might accuse Him.

¹⁴ Moreover the Pharisees, who were covetous, also heard all these things: And they derided Him.

³² The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning Him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take Him.

⁴⁸ Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed on Him?

⁶ This they said tempting Him, that they might be able to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down, and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear them.

⁴⁷ Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said, "What shall we do? For this Man does many miracles.

⁵⁷ Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that if any man knew where He was, he should tell it, that they might apprehend Him.

¹⁰ Now to the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, let not the wife depart from her husband: ¹¹ But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: And do not let the husband put away his wife.

⁹ Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents.

²⁰ To the law and to the testimony: If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

²⁵ And behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted Him, saying, "Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"

³⁹ Search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: And these are they which testify of Me.

²¹ Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not hear the law?

¹ When a man has taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favor in his eyes, because he has found some uncleanness in her: Then let him write her a bill of divorce, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. ² And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife. ³ And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorce, and gives it in her hand, and sends her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife; ⁴ her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD: And you shall not cause the land to sin, which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance.

¹ Thus says the LORD, "Where is the bill of your mother's divorce, whom I have put away? Or which of My creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities you have sold yourselves, and for your transgressions your mother is put away.

¹ "They say, "If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return to her again? Shall that land not be greatly polluted? But you have played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me", said the LORD.

¹⁹ Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privately.

⁷ They said to Him, "Why then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?"

⁶ Understand therefore, that the LORD your God gives you not this good land to possess it for your righteousness; for you are a stiff-necked people.

²⁷ For I know your rebellion, and your stiff neck: Behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, you have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?

¹⁶ But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and did not hearken to your commandments, ¹⁷ and refused to obey, neither were mindful of your wonders that you did among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: But you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsook them not.

²⁶ Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against you, and cast your law behind their backs, and slew your prophets which testified against them to turn them to you, and they worked great provocations.

⁸ He said to them, "Moses permitted you to put away your wives because of the hardness of your hearts: But from the beginning it was not so.

⁵¹ "You stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit: As your fathers did, so you do.

⁷ Therefore (as the Holy Spirit says, "Today, if you will hear His voice, ⁸ do not harden your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: ⁹ When your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My works forty years. ¹⁰ Therefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, 'They always err in their heart; and they have not known My ways.'

¹ In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

²⁷ So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

²⁰ And Adam gave names to all domestic beasts, and to the fowl of the air, and to every wild beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found a help-aid suitable for him. ²¹ And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: And he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place; ²² and out of the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, He made a woman, and brought her to the man. ²³ And Adam said, "This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: She shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man."

¹⁴ Yet all you say, "Why?" Because the LORD has been witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously: Yet she is your companion, and the wife of your covenant. ¹⁵ And did He not make them one? Yet he had the residue of the Spirit. And why one? That He might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. ¹⁶ For the LORD, the God of Israel, says that He hates putting away: "For one covers violence with his garment", says the LORD of hosts: "Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you all do not deal treacherously."

¹⁹ For in those days there shall be affliction, such as has not been since the beginning of the creation which God created until this time, nor shall be again.

⁴ and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers deceased, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation."

²⁴ Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife: And they shall be one flesh.

⁵ and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: And those two shall be one flesh?' ⁶ For which reason they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let not man separate."

³¹ "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh."

¹⁶ What? Do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body? For "the two", He says, "shall be one flesh."

²⁸ So husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

¹⁰ The sons also of Jediael; Bilhan: And the sons of Bilhan; Jeush, and Benjamin, and Ehud, and Chenaanah, and Zethan, and Tharshish, and Ahishahar. ¹¹ All these the sons of Jediael, by the heads of their fathers, mighty men of valor, were seventeen thousand and two hundred soldiers, fit to go out for war and battle. ¹² Shuppim also, and Huppim, the children of Ir, and Hushim, the sons of Aher. ¹³ The sons of Naphtali; Jahziel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shallum, the sons of Bilhah.

¹ Do you not know, brethren (for I speak to those that know the law), that the law has dominion over a man as long as he lives? ² For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he lives; but if the husband is dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. ³ So then if, while her husband lives, she is married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress; but if her husband is dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she is married to another man.

¹⁰ And when He was alone, those who were around Him with the twelve asked Him about the parable.

²⁸ And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, "Why couldn't we cast it out?"

³³ Then He came to Capernaum: And being in the house He asked them, "What was it that you disputed among yourselves by the road?"

⁹ And I say to you, Whoever puts away his wife, except if it be for fornication, and marries another, commits adultery: And whoever marries her that is put away commits adultery."

¹⁸ Whoever puts away his wife, and marries another, commits adultery: And whoever marries her that is put away from her husband commits adultery.

³ So then if, while her husband lives, she is married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress; but if her husband is dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she is married to another man. ⁴ The wife does not have power of her own body, but the husband does: And likewise also the husband does not have power of his own body, but the wife does.

⁴ Marriage is honorable in everyone, and the bed undefiled: But whore-mongers and adulterers God will judge.

¹¹ But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: And do not let the husband put away his wife.

¹³ And the woman which has a husband that does not believe, if he is pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.

⁹ And Moses said, "We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds we will go; for we must hold a feast to the LORD." ¹⁰ And he said to them, "Let the LORD be so with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: Look to it; for evil is before you. ¹¹ Not so: Go now, you that are men, and serve the LORD; for you desired that." And they were driven out from Pharaoh's presence.

¹² Gather the people together, men and women, and children, and your stranger that is within your gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law: ¹³ And that their children, which have not known anything, may hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as you live in the land where you go over the Jordan to possess it.

¹⁶ Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: Let the bridegroom go forth from his chamber, and the bride out of her room.

¹³ Then little children were brought to Him, that He should put His hands on them, and pray: And the disciples rebuked them. ¹⁴ But Jesus said, "Permit little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them: For of such is the kingdom of heaven." ¹⁵ And He laid His hands on them, and departed from there.

³⁸ And John answered Him, saying, "Master, we saw someone casting out devils in Your name, and he does not follow us: Therefore we forbade him, because he does not follow us."

⁴⁸ And many charged him that he should hold his peace: But he cried out a great deal more, "Son of David, have mercy on me."

¹⁵ Also they brought infants to Him, that He would touch them: But when His disciples saw it, they rebuked them. ¹⁶ But Jesus called them to Him, and said, "Permit little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them: For of such is the kingdom of God. ¹⁷ Truly I say to you, Whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no case enter in there."

⁷ And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your seed after you in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to you, and to your seed after you.

¹⁰ This is My covenant, which you shall keep, between Me and you and your seed after you; Every man child among you shall be circumcised. ¹¹ And you shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token sign of the covenant between Me and you. ¹² And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of your seed. ¹³ He that is born in your house, and he that is bought with your money, must necessarily be circumcised: And My covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. ¹⁴ And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant."

³¹ But your little ones, which you said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which you have despised.

³⁷ And because he loved your fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought you out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt;

¹¹ your little ones, your wives, and your stranger that is in your camp, from the hewer of your wood to the drawer of your water: ¹² That you should enter into covenant with the LORD your God, and into his oath, which the LORD your God makes with you this day:

¹¹ And she vowed a vow, and said, "O, LORD of hosts, if You will indeed look upon the affliction of Your handmaid and remember me, and not forget Your handmaid, but will give to Your handmaid a manchild, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head."

²² But Hannah did not go up; for she said to her husband, "I will not go up until the child is weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and abide there forever."

²⁷ for this child I prayed; and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of Him: ²⁸ Therefore I also have lent him to the LORD; as long as he lives he shall be lent to the LORD." And he worshiped the LORD there.

⁴ We will not hide them from their children, showing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and His strength, and His wonderful works that He has done.

¹⁴ The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children. ¹⁵ You are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth.

¹ A Song of degrees of David. LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor my eyes lofty: Neither do I exercise myself in great matters, nor in things too high for me. ² Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: My soul is even as a weaned child.

²³ They shall not labor in vain, nor bring forth children for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.

³⁹ And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them, and of their children after them: ⁴⁰ And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from Me.

⁴ Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

¹⁰ Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I say to you that in heaven their angels always behold the face of My Father which is in heaven.

¹⁴ But Jesus said, "Permit little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them: For of such is the kingdom of heaven."

⁵ And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved because of the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, "Stretch forth your hand." And he stretched it out; and his hand was restored whole like the other.

³³ But when He had turned around and looked upon His disciples, He rebuked Peter, saying, "Get behind Me, Satan: For you do not savor the things that are of God, but the things that are of men."

⁵⁴ And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, would you like that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elijah did?" ⁵⁵ But He turned and rebuked them, and said, "You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. ⁵⁶ For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them." And they went to another village.

¹⁵ Also they brought infants to Him, that He would touch them: But when His disciples saw it, they rebuked them. ¹⁶ But Jesus called them to Him, and said, "Permit little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them: For of such is the kingdom of God.

³⁹ For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call."

²⁵ You are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, 'And in your seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.'

¹⁶ For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; And if the root is holy, so are the branches.

²⁸ Concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: But concerning the chosen, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.

¹⁴ Because the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: Otherwise your children are unclean; but now they are holy.

²⁰ Brethren, do not be children in understanding: Yet in malice be children, but in understanding be men.

²⁶ "Be angry, and do not sin": Do not let the sun go down upon your wrath:

⁵ when I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice; and I am persuaded is in you also.

¹⁵ and that from childhood you have known the Holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

² as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow thereby:

⁵ And no guile was found in their mouths: For they are without fault before the throne of God.

³ and said, "Truly I say to you, Unless you are converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

¹⁷ Truly I say to you, Whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no case enter in there."

³ Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." ⁴ Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb, and be born?" ⁵ Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless a man is born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. ⁶ That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

¹⁴ And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn. ¹⁵ And he blessed Joseph, and said, "God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God which fed me all my life long to this day, ¹⁶ the Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth."

³ Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field.

¹¹ He shall feed His flock like a shepherd: He shall gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

³⁶ Then He took a child, and set him in the midst of them: And when He had taken him in His arms, He said to them,

²⁸ then he took Him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, ²⁹ "Lord, now let Your servant depart in peace, according to Your word: ³⁰ For my eyes have seen Your salvation, ³¹ which You have prepared before the face of all people; ³² a light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel." ³³ And Joseph and His mother marveled at those things which were spoken about Him. ³⁴ Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, "Behold, this Child is appointed for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;

⁵⁰ And He led them out as far as to Bethany, and He lifted up His hands, and blessed them. ⁵¹ And it came to pass, while He blessed them, He was separated from them, and carried up into heaven.

¹⁵ So when they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs." ¹⁶ He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My sheep." ¹⁷ He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.

¹⁰ Now when Daniel knew the writing document was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did before.

¹⁴ And when they had come to the multitude, a certain man came to Him, kneeling down to Him, and saying,

¹⁶ And behold, one came and said to Him, "Good Master, what good thing should I do, that I may have eternal life?" ¹⁷ And He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? There are none good except One, that is, God: But if you desire to enter into life, keep the commandments." ¹⁸ He said to Him, "Which ones?" Jesus said, " 'You shall not murder', 'You shall not commit adultery', 'You shall not steal', 'You shall not bear false witness', ¹⁹ 'Honor your father and your mother': And, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' " ²⁰ The young man said to Him, "I have kept all these things from my youth on up: What do I still lack?" ²¹ Jesus said to Him, "If you desire to be perfect, go and sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: And come and follow Me." ²² But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: For he had many possessions. ²³ Then Jesus said to His disciples, "Truly I say to you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. ²⁴ And again I say to you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." ²⁵ When His disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, "Who then can be saved?" ²⁶ But Jesus beheld them, and said to them, "With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." ²⁷ Then Peter answered and said to Him, "Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed You; what shall we therefore have?" ²⁸ And Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you, That in the regeneration when the Son of Man shall sit on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me shall also sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. ²⁹ And everyone who has forsaken houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for My name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. ³⁰ But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first."

³⁴ Then the King shall say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

⁸ Then they departed quickly from the sepulcher with fear and great joy; and ran to bring His disciples word.

⁴⁰ And a leper came to Him, beseeching Him, kneeling down to Him, and saying to Him, "If You are willing, You can make me clean."

²⁵ When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the fowl spirit, saying to it: "You dumb and deaf spirit, I charge you, come out of him, and enter no more into him."

¹⁴ Moreover when they had come, they said to Him, "Master, we know that You are true, and revere no man; for You do not regard the person of men, but teach the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?

¹⁸ Then a certain ruler asked Him, saying, "Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" ¹⁹ And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? There is none good, except One, that is, God. ²⁰ You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery', 'Do not kill', 'Do not steal', 'Do not bear false witness', 'Honor your father and your mother.' " ²¹ And he said, "All these things I have kept from my youth up." ²² Now when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, "You still lack one thing: Sell all that you have, and distribute to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: And come, follow Me." ²³ And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: For he was very rich. ²⁴ And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, He said, "How hardly shall those that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! ²⁵ For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." ²⁶ And those who heard it said, "Who then can be saved?" ²⁷ And He said, "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God." ²⁸ Then Peter said, "Look, we have left all, and followed You." ²⁹ And He said to them, "Truly I say to you, There is no man that has left house, or parents, or brothers, or wife, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, ³⁰ who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting."

² The same came to Jesus by night, and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God: For no man can do these miracles that You do, unless God is with him."

²⁷ Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man shall give to you: For God the Father has sealed Him." ²⁸ Then they said to Him, "What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?"

⁴⁰ And this is the will of Him that sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son, and believes on Him, may have everlasting life: And I will raise him up at the last day."

² Then she ran, and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we do not know where they have laid Him." ³ Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre. ⁴ So they both ran together; and the other disciple outran Peter, and came to the sepulchre first.

³⁷ Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said to Peter and to the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?"

⁶ And he trembling and astonished said, "Lord, what would You have me to do?" And the Lord said to him, "Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told to you what you must do."

³⁰ And brought them out, and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

³² "And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

⁷ To those who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life:

²³ For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

² For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. ³ For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God. ⁴ For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes.

²⁵ And this is the promise that He has promised us, even eternal life.

² There is none holy as the LORD: For there is none beside You: Neither is there any rock like our God.

⁷ How excellent is your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. ⁸ They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of Your house; and You shall make them drink of the river of Your pleasures.

⁵ For You, LORD, are good, and ready to forgive; and abound in mercy to all those who call upon You.

⁶⁸ You are good, and do good; teach me Your statutes.

¹⁷ And He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? There are none good except One, that is, God: But if you desire to enter into life, keep the commandments."

¹⁹ And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? There is none good, except One, that is, God.

⁴¹ I do not receive honor from men. ⁴² But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you. ⁴³ I have come in My Father's name, and you do not receive Me: If another shall come in his own name, him you will receive. ⁴⁴ How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from God only?

¹² They have all gone out of the way, they have together become unprofitable; there is none that does good, no, not one."

¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, nor shadow of turning.

⁸ He that does not love does not know God; for God is love.

¹⁶ And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love; and he that dwells in love dwells in God, and God in him.

¹² Honor your father and your mother: That your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God gives you. ¹³ You shall not kill. ¹⁴ You shall not commit adultery. ¹⁵ You shall not steal. ¹⁶ You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. ¹⁷ You shall not covet your neighbor's house, you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's."

¹⁶ Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you; that your days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with you, in the land which the LORD your God gives you. ¹⁷ You shall not kill. ¹⁸ Neither shall you commit adultery. ¹⁹ Neither shall you steal. ²⁰ Neither shall you bear false witness against your neighbor. ²¹ Neither shall you desire your neighbor's wife, neither shall you covet your neighbor's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's. ²² These words the LORD spoke to all your assembly in the mount out of the middle of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: And he added no more. And he wrote them in two tablets of stone, and delivered them to me. ²³ And it came to pass, when you heard the voice out of the middle of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire), that you came near to me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders; ²⁴ and you said, "Behold, the LORD our God has showed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the middle of the fire: We have seen this day that God does talk with man, and he lives.

¹⁷ Do not think that I have come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I did not come to destroy, but to fulfill. ¹⁸ For truly I say to you, Until heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall by no means pass from the law, until all is fulfilled. ¹⁹ Whoever therefore breaks one of these least commandments, and teaches men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: But whoever does and teaches them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. ²⁰ For I say to you, That unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

¹⁷ And He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? There are none good except One, that is, God: But if you desire to enter into life, keep the commandments." ¹⁸ He said to Him, "Which ones?" Jesus said, " 'You shall not murder', 'You shall not commit adultery', 'You shall not steal', 'You shall not bear false witness', ¹⁹ 'Honor your father and your mother': And, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' "

²⁸ Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, "Which is the first commandment of all?" ²⁹ And Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is, 'Hear, O Israel; the LORD our God is one LORD: ³⁰ And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength': This is the first commandment. ³¹ And the second is alike, namely this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." ³² Therefore the scribe said to Him, "Well said, Master, You have spoken the truth: For there is one God; and there is no other but He: ³³ And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices." ³⁴ Then when Jesus saw that he answered prudently, He said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And after that no man dared ask Him any question.

²⁶ He said to him, "What is written in the law? How do you read it?" ²⁷ And he answering said, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself." ²⁸ And He said to him, "You have answered right: Do this, and you shall live."

²⁰ You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery', 'Do not kill', 'Do not steal', 'Do not bear false witness', 'Honor your father and your mother.' "

²⁰ Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh shall be justified in His sight: For by the law is the knowledge of sin.

⁹ For these, "You shall not commit adultery", "You shall not kill", "You shall not steal", "You shall not bear false witness", "You shall not covet"; and if there is any other commandment, it is concisely understood by this saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

⁷ Now therefore, there is utterly a fault among you, because you go to the court of law against one another. Why do you not rather accept wrong? Why do you not rather allow yourselves to be defrauded? ⁸ No, you do wrong, and defraud, and that to your brethren. ⁹ Do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

¹⁴ For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

⁶ That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: Because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we have also forewarned you and testified.

¹¹ For He that said, "Do not commit adultery", also said, "Do not kill." Now if you do not commit adultery, yet if you kill, you have become a transgressor of the law.

² Yet they seek Me daily, and delight to know My ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and did not forsake the ordinance of their God: They ask of Me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching God.

¹⁴ Moreover I will make you waste, and a reproach among the nations that are around you, in the sight of all who pass by.

³¹ And they come to you according to the coming of the people, and they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words, but they will not do them: For with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their covetousness. ³² And, see, you are to them as a very lovely song of one who has a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: For they hear your words, but they do them not.

⁸ Will a man rob God? Yet you all have robbed Me. But you all say, 'In what have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings.

²⁰ The young man said to Him, "I have kept all these things from my youth on up: What do I still lack?"

²⁹ But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"

¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed in this manner with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. ¹² I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.'

⁹ For I was alive without the law once: But when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

⁶ concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching upon the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.

⁵ having a form of godliness, but denying the power of it: From such turn away.

¹⁹ And the young man did not delay to do the thing, because he had delight in Jacob's daughter: And he was more honorable than all the house of his father.

²³ Buy the truth, and do not sell it; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

⁸ For He said, "Surely they are My people, children that will not lie": So He was their Savior. ⁹ In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the angel of His presence saved them: In His love and in His pity He redeemed them; and He bore them, and carried them all the days of old. ¹⁰ But they rebelled, and vexed His holy Spirit: Therefore He was turned to be their enemy, and He fought against them.

¹⁹ Do not store up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust corrupts, and where thieves break in and steal: ²⁰ But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust corrupts, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: ²¹ For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

⁴⁴ Again, the kingdom of heaven is likened to treasure hid in a field; which when a man has found it, he hides it, and out of joy over it he goes and sells all that he has, and buys that field. ⁴⁵ Again, the kingdom of heaven is likened to a merchant man, seeking better quality pearls: ⁴⁶ Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

²⁴ Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

²¹ Jesus said to Him, "If you desire to be perfect, go and sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: And come and follow Me."

³⁴ And when He had called the people to Him with His disciples also, He said to them, "Whoever is willing to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

²³ Moreover He said to them all, "If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

⁴² But one thing is necessary: And Mary has chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her."

³³ Sell what you have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which do not wax old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches, neither moth corrupts.

⁹ And I say to you, Make for yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that when you fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.

²² Now when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, "You still lack one thing: Sell all that you have, and distribute to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: And come, follow Me."

⁴¹ And when He drew near, He beheld the city, and wept over it,

²⁶ If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant shall also be: If anyone serves Me, My Father will honor him.

³³ These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: But be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."

⁴⁵ and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them to all men, as every man had need.

³⁴ Neither was there any among them who lacked: For as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, ³⁵ and laid them down at the apostles' feet: And distribution was made to every man accordingly as he had need. ³⁶ And Joses, who was surnamed Barnabas by the apostles (which being interpreted is, The son of Consolation), a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus, ³⁷ having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.

¹⁷ And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if as should be we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. ¹⁸ For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

¹⁵ And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved.

¹⁷ Charge those that are rich in this world, that they are not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy; ¹⁸ that they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; ¹⁹ laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

¹² Yes, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

³⁴ For you had compassion on me in my chains, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that you have a better and an enduring substance in heaven.

¹⁰ For whoever keeps the whole law, and yet offends in one point, he is guilty of all.

⁴ to an inheritance incorruptible, undefiled, and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, ⁵ who are kept by the power of God through faith to salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time.

⁴ Nevertheless I have something against you, because you have left your first love.

¹⁴ But I have a few things against you, because you have there those that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to throw a stumbling-block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit fornication.

²⁰ Notwithstanding I have a few things against you, because you let that woman Jezebel, which calls herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce My servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed to idols.

⁵ And Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents. ⁶ And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: For their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together. ⁷ And there was a strife between the herdsmen of Abram's domestic beasts and the herdsmen of Lot's domestic beasts: And the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled in the land at that time. ⁸ And Abram said to Lot, "Let there be no strife, I implore you, between me and you, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are brethren. ⁹ Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself, I implore you, from me: If you will take the left hand side, then I will go to the right; or if you depart to the right hand side, then I will go to the left." ¹⁰ And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of the Jordan river, that it was well watered everywhere, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as you come to Zoar. ¹¹ Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of the Jordan river; and Lot journeyed east: And they separated themselves from each other.

¹⁰ And it shall be, when the LORD your God shall have brought you into the land which He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you great and goodly cities, which you built not, ¹¹ and houses full of all good things, which you filled not, and wells dig, which you digged not, vineyards and olive trees, which you planted not; when you shall have eaten and be full; ¹² then beware lest you forget the LORD, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

¹¹ Beware that you forget not the LORD your God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command you this day: ¹² Lest when you have eaten and are full, and have built goodly houses, and dwelled in it; ¹³ and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold is multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; ¹⁴ then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

⁷ Why do the wicked live, become old, yes, are mighty in power? ⁸ Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes. ⁹ Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God on them. ¹⁰ Their bull engenders, and fails not; their cow calves, and casts not her calf. ¹¹ They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance. ¹² They take the tambourine and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ. ¹³ They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave. ¹⁴ Therefore they say to God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of your ways. ¹⁵ What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? And what profit should we have, if we pray to him?

³¹ And they come to you according to the coming of the people, and they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words, but they will not do them: For with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their covetousness.

²² He that received seed among the thorns is also he that hears the word; and the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

²² But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: For he had many possessions.

³ Then Judas, who had betrayed Him, when he saw that He was condemned, repented himself, and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders,

²⁴ When Pilate saw that he could prevail in nothing, but rather that a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this just Person: You see to it." ²⁵ Then all the people answered, and said, "His blood be on us, and on our children." ²⁶ Then he released Barabbas to them: And when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified.

²⁰ For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.

²⁶ And the king was exceedingly sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for the sakes of those who sat with him, he would not reject her request.

¹⁵ And He said to them, "Take heed, and beware of covetousness: For a man's life does not subsist in the abundance of the things which he possesses."

²³ And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: For he was very rich.

¹⁰ For godly sorrow works out repentance to salvation, not to be regretted: But the sorrow of the world works death.

⁵ For this you know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

⁹ But those that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. ¹⁰ For the love of money is the root of all evil: Which while coveting after, some have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

¹⁰ For Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.

¹⁵ Do not love the world, nor the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

²³ Then Jesus said to His disciples, "Truly I say to you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. ²⁴ And again I say to you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." ²⁵ When His disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, "Who then can be saved?" ²⁶ But Jesus beheld them, and said to them, "With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible."

³² And He looked around to see her who had done this thing.

¹⁵ Truly I say to you, Whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter into it."

²⁴ And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, He said, "How hardly shall those that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

⁵ Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless a man is born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

²⁶ For you see your calling, brethren, how not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren, has not God chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which He has promised to those that love Him?

⁴ You adulterers and adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

¹¹ For after that an entrance shall abundantly be ministered to you into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

²⁴ If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, You are my confidence; ²⁵ if I rejoice because my wealth was great, and because my hand had gotten much;

¹⁴ From men which are Your hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly You fill with Your hidden treasure: They are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

⁶ Those that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; ⁷ none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:

⁷ Lo, this is the man that did not make God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.

¹⁰ Do not trust in oppression, and do not become ostentatious in robbery: If riches increase, do not set your heart upon them.

²⁸ He that trusts in his riches shall fall: But the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

¹¹ The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as a high wall in his own conceit.

⁵ Will you set your eyes upon that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

²³ Thus says the LORD, "Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:

⁴ With your wisdom and with your understanding you have gotten your riches, and have gotten gold and silver into your treasures: ⁵ By your great wisdom and by your traffic you have increased your riches, and your heart is lifted up because of your riches:"

⁹ Woe to him that covets an evil covetousness to establish his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil!

¹⁸ Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD's wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of His jealousy: For He shall even make a speedy riddance of all those that dwell in the land.

²⁵ When His disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, "Who then can be saved?"

¹⁶ Moreover He spoke a parable to them, saying, "The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: ¹⁷ And he thought within himself, saying, 'What shall I do, because I have no room where to stow my fruits?' ¹⁸ So he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there I will stow all my fruits and my goods. ¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have a great many goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry." ' ²⁰ But God said to him, 'You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: Then whose shall those things be, which you have provided?' ²¹ So is he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

²⁶ And those who heard it said, "Who then can be saved?" ²⁷ And He said, "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God."

⁶⁰ Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, "This is a hard saying; who can understand it?"

³³ Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You shall seek Me: And as I said to the Jews, 'The place I go, you cannot come'; so now I say to you.

⁵ Then Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any food?" They answered Him, "No."

¹⁹ My little children, for whom I travail in birth again until Christ is formed in you,

¹⁷ Charge those that are rich in this world, that they are not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy;

¹ Go now, you rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. ² Your riches are corrupted, and your clothes are moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver are cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as if it were fire. You have heaped treasure together for the last days.

¹ My little children, these things I write to you so that you do not sin. And if any man sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

⁴ You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: Because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

²¹ Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

¹⁷ Because you say, 'I am rich, and am increased with goods, and have need of nothing'; but do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked:

²³ Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? Then may you also do good, who are accustomed to do evil?

³ And why do you behold the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank that is in your own eye? ⁴ Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye'; and behold, a plank is in your own eye? ⁵ You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye; and then you shall see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

²⁴ And again I say to you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." ²⁵ When His disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, "Who then can be saved?"

²⁴ You blind guides, who strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

²⁵ For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."

⁵¹ Then He went up to them into the ship; and the wind ceased: And they were exceedingly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.

³⁷ and they were astonished beyond measure, saying, "He has done all things well: He makes both the deaf to hear, and the mute to speak."

²³ Then one said to Him, "Lord, are there few who are saved?" And He said to them,

²⁶ And those who heard it said, "Who then can be saved?"

³¹ And they said, "Believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved, and your house."

⁹ that if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. ¹⁰ For with the heart man believes to righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made to salvation. ¹¹ For the scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be ashamed." ¹² For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: For the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. ¹³ For "Whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

²³ Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labors more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, in deaths often.

¹³ And the LORD said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh, saying, 'Shall I indeed truly bear a child, who am old?' ¹⁴ Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son."

²¹ And Moses said, "The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and you have said, "I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month. ²² Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them? ²³ And the LORD said to Moses, "Is the LORD's hand waxed short? You shall see now whether my word shall come to pass to you or not.

² Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, "Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, "Behold, you shall see it with your eyes, but shall not eat of it.

² I know that you can do every thing, and that no thought can be withheld from you.

¹⁷ 'Ah Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heaven and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm, and there is nothing too hard for you:

²⁷ "Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: Is there anything too hard for Me?

⁶ Thus says the LORD of hosts; 'If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvelous in My eyes?' says the LORD of hosts.

²⁶ But Jesus beheld them, and said to them, "With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible."

³⁷ For with God nothing shall be impossible."

²⁷ And He said, "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God."

²¹ Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able to even subdue all things to Himself.

²⁵ Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those that come to God by Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

¹⁹ Concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from where he also received him in parable form.

²⁰ And they immediately left their nets, and followed Him.

²² And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed Him.

¹⁶ Now as He walked by the sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: For they were fishers. ¹⁷ And Jesus said to them, "Follow after Me, and I will make you become fishers of men." ¹⁸ And immediately they forsook their nets, and followed Him. ¹⁹ And when He had gone a little further from that place, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets. ²⁰ And immediately He called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after Him.

³³ So likewise, whoever he is among you who does not forsake all that he has, he cannot be My disciple.

⁷ But what things were gain to me, those I counted as losses for Christ. ⁸ Yes without doubt, and I count all things as loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: For whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as dung, that I may win Christ, ⁹ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

¹ Now the LORD had said to Abram, "Get out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you: ² And I will make a great nation of you, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing: ³ And I will bless those that bless you, and curse him that curses you: And in you all families of the earth shall be blessed."

²⁰ Also do not overly regard your stuff; for the good of all the land of Egypt is yours.' "

⁹ who said to his father and to his mother, I have not seen him; neither did he acknowledge his brothers, nor knew his own children: For they have observed your word, and kept your covenant. ¹⁰ They shall teach Jacob your judgments, and Israel your law: They shall put incense before you, and whole burnt sacrifice on your altar. ¹¹ Bless, LORD, his substance, and accept the work of his hands; smite through the loins of those that rise against him, and of those that hate him, that they rise not again.

¹⁰ Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake: For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ¹¹ Blessed are you when men revile you, persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for My sake.

¹⁸ and you shall be brought before governors and kings for My sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

³⁵ For whoever intends to save his life shall lose it; but whoever shall lose his life for My sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.

²⁸ You all are those which have continued with Me in My temptations.You all: In KJV, Ye; hence "You all" signifies a plural "You" ²⁹ And I appoint to you a kingdom, as My Father has appointed to Me; ³⁰ that all of you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel."all of you: In KJV, ye; hence "all of you" signifies a plural "you"

²³ Now this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be a partaker of it with you.

²⁴ By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; ²⁵ choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; ²⁶ esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: For he had respect for the recompense of the reward.

³ And have supported, and have patience, and have labored for My name's sake, and have not fainted.

⁹ And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give you much more than this.

¹¹ For the LORD God is a sun and shield: The LORD will give grace and glory: He will not withhold any good thing from those that walk uprightly.

⁹ Honor the LORD with your substance, and with the firstfruits of all your increase: ¹⁰ So shall your barns be filled with plenty, and your presses shall burst out with new wine.

¹⁶ How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! And choosing to get understanding rather than silver!

¹⁰ Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, all of you, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now with this", says the LORD of hosts, "if I will not open to you the windows of heaven, and pour out a blessing upon you, such that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

¹¹ Blessed are you when men revile you, persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for My sake. ¹² Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad: For great is your reward in heaven: For in like manner they persecuted the prophets which were before you.

³³ But you, seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

³² And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him: But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in the world to come.

³⁰ who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting."

²³ And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon's porch.

²² Therefore you now have sorrow: But I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and no man will take your joy from you. ²³ And in that day you shall ask Me nothing. Truly, truly, I say to you, Whatever you shall ask the Father in My name, He will give you it.

⁴¹ Therefore they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.

²⁵ And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises to God: And the prisoners heard them.

³ And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations: Knowing that tribulation works patience;

¹⁰ as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

⁸ And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: ⁹ (As it is written, "He has dispersed abroad; he has given to the poor: His righteousness remains forever." ¹⁰ Now He that ministers seed to the sower also ministers bread for your food, and multiplies your seed sown, and increases the fruits of your righteousness); ¹¹ being enriched in everything to all bountifulness, which causes thanksgiving to God through us.

⁸ Yes without doubt, and I count all things as loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: For whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as dung, that I may win Christ,

¹⁶ Now our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God, even our Father, which has loved us, and has given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,

⁶ But godliness with contentment is great gain.

² My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into diverse temptations; ³ knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience. ⁴ But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and whole, lacking nothing.

¹² Blessed is the man that endures temptation: For when he is approved, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

¹¹ Behold, we count them happy who endure. You have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the ending of the Lord; that the Lord is very compassionate, and of tender mercy.

¹² Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to prove you, as though some strange thing happened to you: ¹³ But rejoice, considering that you are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that when His glory shall be revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. ¹⁴ If you are reproached for the name of Christ, you are happier; for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you: On their part He is spoken evil of, but on your part He is glorified. ¹⁵ But let none of you suffer as a murderer, as a thief, as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people's matters. ¹⁶ Yet if any man suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this respect.

¹ Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

⁹ "I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are rich), and I know the blasphemy of those which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

¹⁸ I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, so that the shame of your nakedness does not appear; and anoint your eyes with eye-salve, that you may see.

¹¹ And I say to you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. ¹² But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

³⁰ But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first."

¹⁶ So the last shall be first, and the first last: For many are called, but few chosen.

³¹ Which of those two did the will of his father?" They said to Him, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

²⁹ And all the people who heard Him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. ³⁰ But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, not being baptized by him.

⁴⁰ And Jesus answering said to him, "Simon, I have something to say to you." So he said, "Master, speak on." ⁴¹ "There was a certain creditor who had two debtors: The one owed five hundred silver coins, and the other fifty. ⁴² And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me therefore, which of them will love him most?" ⁴³ Simon answered and said, "I suppose that the one to whom he forgave most." And He said to him, "You have rightly judged." ⁴⁴ Then He turned to the woman, and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, you gave Me no water for My feet: But she has washed My feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. ⁴⁵ You gave Me no kiss: But this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. ⁴⁶ You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant ointment. ⁴⁷ Therefore I say to you, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little."

³⁰ And behold, there are last who shall be first, and there are first who shall be last."

¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed in this manner with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. ¹² I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.' ¹³ And the publican, standing afar off, would not so much as lift up his eyes to heaven, but smote his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner.' ¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: For everyone who exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted."

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, "It was necessary that the Word of God should first have been spoken to you: But seeing you put it away from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles. ⁴⁷ For so has the Lord commanded us, saying, 'I have set you to be a light to the Gentiles, that you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.' " ⁴⁸ Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: And as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

³⁰ What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who did not follow after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. ³¹ But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness. ³² Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling-stone; ³³ As it is written, "Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling-stone and rock of offense: And whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed."

⁸ Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, you, and your fellows that sit before you: For they are men wondered at: For, behold, I will bring forth My Servant the BRANCH.

²⁵ At that time Jesus answered and said, "I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them to babes.

¹¹ He answered and said to them, "Because it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

¹⁷ Then Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples aside on the way, and said to them, ¹⁸ "Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man shall be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes, and they shall condemn Him to death, ¹⁹ and shall deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify Him: And the third day He shall rise again."

³⁴ But He did not speak to them without a parable: And when they were alone, He expounded all things to His disciples.

⁵¹ And it came to pass, when the time had come that he was to be received up, He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem,

²³ Then He turned to His disciples and said privately, "Blessed are the eyes which see the things that you see:

³¹ Then He took the twelve to Himself, and said to them, "Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man shall be accomplished. ³² For He shall be delivered to the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully treated, and spit on: ³³ Then they shall scourge Him, and put Him to death: And the third day He shall rise again." ³⁴ Yet they understood none of these things: And this saying was hid from them, neither did they know the things which were spoken.

⁸ His disciples said to Him, "Master, the Jews sought to stone You not long ago; and are You going to that place again?"

¹⁶ Then Thomas, who is called Didymus, said to his fellow disciples, "Let us also go, that we may die with Him."

²¹ From that time forward Jesus began to show to His disciples how He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised again the third day.

²² And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: ²³ And they shall kill Him, and the third day He shall be raised again." And they were exceedingly sorrowful.

⁶⁶ What do you think?" They answered and said, "He is guilty of death."

² And when they had bound Him, they led Him away, and delivered Him to the governor Pontius Pilate.

³¹ And He began to teach them, that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, and by the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

³¹ For He taught His disciples, and said to them, "The Son of Man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill Him; then after He is killed, He shall rise the third day."

⁶⁴ You have heard the blasphemy: What do you think?" And they all condemned Him to be guilty of death.

¹ Then in the morning without delay, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, carried Him away, and delivered Him to Pilate.

²² saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day."

³¹ Then He took the twelve to Himself, and said to them, "Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man shall be accomplished. ³² For He shall be delivered to the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully treated, and spit on: ³³ Then they shall scourge Him, and put Him to death: And the third day He shall rise again."

¹ Then the whole multitude of them arose, and led Him to Pilate. ² And they began to accuse Him, saying, "We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that He Himself is Christ a King."

²¹ But they cried out, saying, "Crucify Him, crucify Him."

⁶ He is not here, but is risen: Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, ⁷ saying, 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.' "

²⁸ Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the hall of judgment: And it was early; but they themselves did not go into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; that they might yet eat the Passover.

¹¹ Jesus answered, "You could have no power at all against Me, unless it was given you from above: Therefore he that delivered Me to you has the greater sin."

¹³ The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His Son Jesus; whom you delivered up, and denied Him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. ¹⁴ But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted to you;

²⁷ For those that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not know Him, nor even the voices of the prophets which are read every Sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning Him.

²² And now behold, I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

⁶ You have condemned and killed the just; and he does not resist you.

¹⁰ They abhor me, they flee far from me, and spare not to spit in my face.

¹⁰ For You will not leave my soul in hell; neither will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.

⁶ But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. ⁷ All those that see Me laugh Me to scorn: They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, ⁸ "He trusted on the LORD that He would deliver Him: Let Him deliver Him, seeing He delighted in Him."

¹³ They gaped upon Me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.

⁶ I gave My back to the smiters, and My cheeks to those who plucked off the hair: I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.

³ He is despised and rejected by men; a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: And we hid our faces from Him as it were; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

² After two days He will revive us: On the third day He will raise us up, and we shall live in His sight.

³⁹ But He answered and said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall be no sign given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah: ⁴⁰ For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

⁶⁷ Then they spat in His face, and buffeted Him; and others smote Him with the palms of their hands,

²⁷ Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered the whole band of soldiers to Him. ²⁸ And they stripped Him, and put a scarlet robe on Him. ²⁹ And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon His head, and a reed in His right hand: And they bowed the knee before Him, and mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" ³⁰ Then they spat upon Him, and took the reed, and smote Him on the head. ³¹ And after they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him. ³² Now as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: They compelled him to carry His cross. ³³ And when they came to a place called Golgotha, that is to say, Place of a Skull, ³⁴ they gave Him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: But when He had tasted of it, He would not drink. ³⁵ And they crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet: "They divided My garments among them, and upon my vesture they cast lots." ³⁶ And sitting down they watched Him there; ³⁷ and set up over His head His accusation written as: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. ³⁸ At that time there were two thieves crucified with Him, one on the right hand, and another on the left. ³⁹ And those that passed by reviled Him, wagging their heads, ⁴⁰ and saying, "You that destroy the temple, and build it in three days, save Yourself. If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross." ⁴¹ Likewise the chief priests also mocking Him, with the scribes and elders, said, ⁴² "He saved others; He cannot save Himself. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him. ⁴³ He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now, if He will have Him: For He said, 'I am the Son of God.' " ⁴⁴ The thieves also, which were crucified with Him, cast the same in His teeth.

⁶³ Then the high priest tore his clothes, and said, "What need do we have of any further witnesses?

⁶⁵ Then some began to spit on Him, and to cover His face, and to buffet Him, and to say to Him, "Prophesy": And the servants struck Him with the palms of their hands.

¹⁷ Then they clothed Him with purple, platted a crown of thorns, and put it around His head, ¹⁸ and began to salute Him, "Hail, King of the Jews!" ¹⁹ Then they smote Him on the head with a reed, and spat on Him, and bowing their knees worshiped Him. ²⁰ And when they had mocked Him, they took the purple off of Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him out to crucify Him.

²⁹ And those who passed by railed at Him, wagging their heads, and saying, "Ah, You that destroy the temple, and rebuild it in three days, ³⁰ save Yourself, and come down from the cross." ³¹ Likewise also the chief priests mocking, said among themselves with the scribes, "He saved others; He cannot save Himself.

⁶³ And the men who held Jesus mocked Him, and smote Him. ⁶⁴ And when they had blindfolded Him, they struck Him on the face, and asked Him, saying, "Prophesy, who is it that smote You?" ⁶⁵ And many other things they blasphemously spoke against Him.

¹¹ Also Herod with his men of war disdained Him as nothing, mocked Him, arrayed Him in a gorgeous robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.

³⁵ And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them ridiculed Him, saying, "He saved others; let Him save Himself, if He is Christ, the chosen of God." ³⁶ The soldiers also mocked Him, coming to Him, and offering Him vinegar, ³⁷ and saying, "If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself." ³⁸ And a superscription was also written over Him in letters of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. ³⁹ Moreover one of the criminals which was hanged railed at Him, saying, "If You are Christ, save Yourself and us."

¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

¹⁰ and said to him, "Every man at the beginning sets out good wine; and when men have drunk well, then sets out that which is worse: But you have kept the good wine until now."

² And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on His head, and they put a purple robe on Him, ³ And said, "Hail, King of the Jews!" And they smote Him with their hands.

⁴ and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

⁴ And when the woman of Tekoah spoke to the king, she fell on her face to the ground, and did obeisance, and said, "Help, O king. ⁵ And the king said to her, "What ails you? And she answered, I am indeed a widow woman, and my husband is dead. ⁶ And your handmaid had two sons, and they two strove together in the field, and there was none to part them, but the one smote the other, and slew him. ⁷ And behold, the whole family is risen against your handmaid, and they said, "Deliver him that smote his brother, that we may kill him, for the life of his brother whom he slew; and we will destroy the heir also: And so they shall quench my coal which is left, and shall not leave to my husband neither name nor remainder on the earth. ⁸ And the king said to the woman, Go to your house, and I will give charge concerning you. ⁹ And the woman of Tekoah said to the king, My lord, O king, the iniquity be on me, and on my father's house: And the king and his throne be guiltless. ¹⁰ And the king said, "Whoever said ought to you, bring him to me, and he shall not touch you any more. ¹¹ Then said she, I implore you, let the king remember the LORD your God, that you would not suffer the revengers of blood to destroy any more, lest they destroy my son. And he said, "As the LORD lives, there shall not one hair of your son fall to the earth.

¹⁶ And now I ask one petition of you, deny me not. And she said to him, "Say on.

²⁰ Then she said, "I desire one small petition of you; I implore you, say me not no. And the king said to her, "Ask on, my mother: For I will not say you no.

²⁰ Then the mother of Zebedee's children came to Him with her sons, worshiping Him, and desiring a certain thing from Him. ²¹ And He said to her, "What do you desire?" She said to Him, "Grant that these two sons of mine may sit, the one on Your right hand, and the other on the left, in Your kingdom." ²² And Jesus answered and said, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" They said to Him, "We are able." ²³ And He said to them, "You shall indeed drink of My cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: But to sit on My right hand, and on My left, is not Mine to give, but it shall be given to those for whom it is prepared by My Father." ²⁴ And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren. ²⁵ But Jesus called them to Him, and said, "You know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and those that are great exercise authority upon them. ²⁶ But it shall not be so among you: But whoever desires to be great among you, let him be your minister. ²⁷ And whoever desires to be chief among you, let him be your servant: ²⁸ Even as the Son of Man did not come to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many."

³⁷ And He permitted no man to follow Him, except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.

² And after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John with Him, and led them up into a high mountain apart by themselves: And He was transfigured before them.

³³ And He took Peter, James, and John with Him, and began to be greatly alarmed, and to be very heavy;

⁵ In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: And God said, "Ask what I shall give you. ⁶ And Solomon said, "You have showed to your servant David my father great mercy, according to as he walked before you in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with you; and you have kept for him this great kindness, that you have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. ⁷ And now, O LORD my God, you have made your servant king instead of David my father: And I am but a little child: I do not know how to go out or come in. ⁸ And your servant is in the midst of your people which you have chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. ⁹ Give therefore your servant an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and bad: For who is able to judge this your so great a people? ¹⁰ And the speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing. ¹¹ And God said to him, "Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life; neither have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies; but have asked for yourself understanding to discern judgment; ¹² behold, I have done according to your words: Lo, I have given you a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like you before you, neither after you shall any arise like to you. ¹³ And I have also given you that which you have not asked, both riches, and honor: So that there shall not be any among the kings like to you all your days. ¹⁴ And if you will walk in my ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as your father David did walk, then I will lengthen your days. ¹⁵ And Solomon awoke; and behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.

⁵¹ And Jesus answered and said to him, "What do you will that I should do to you?" The blind man said to Him, "Lord, that I may receive my sight."

⁷ If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done to you.

¹⁹ And he said, "Hear you therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.

⁹ Kings' daughters were among Your honorable women: Upon Your right hand stood the queen in gold of Ophir.

¹ A Psalm of David. The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, until I make Your enemies Your footstool."

²⁸ And Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you, That in the regeneration when the Son of Man shall sit on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me shall also sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

³¹ When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He shall sit upon the throne of His glory:

³⁸ For whoever therefore shall be ashamed of Me and of My words in this adulterous and sinful generation; the Son of Man shall also be ashamed of him, when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels."

¹⁹ So then after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

²⁶ Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into His glory?"

¹¹ Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them signified, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

²² And king Solomon answered and said to his mother, And why do you ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Ask for him the kingdom also; for he is my elder brother; even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah.

⁸ For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and He pours out of the same: But its dregs, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.

²² Thus said your Lord the LORD, and your God that pleads the cause of His people, "Behold, I have taken out of your hand the cup of trembling, even the dregs of the cup of My fury; you shall no more drink it again:

¹⁵ For thus says the LORD God of Israel to me; "Take the wine cup of this fury at My hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send you, to drink it.

⁵ And do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them: For behold, I will bring evil on all flesh", said the LORD: "but I will give your life to you as booty in all places where you go." ' "

²¹ And He said to her, "What do you desire?" She said to Him, "Grant that these two sons of mine may sit, the one on Your right hand, and the other on the left, in Your kingdom." ²² And Jesus answered and said, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" They said to Him, "We are able."

³⁹ And He went a little further, fell on His face, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me: Nevertheless not as I will, but as You will."

³⁶ And He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible for You; take away this cup from Me: Nevertheless not what I will, but what You will."

⁵⁰ But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how pressed I am until it is accomplished!

⁴² saying, "Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me: Nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done."

¹¹ Then Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword into the sheath: The cup which My Father has given Me, shall I not drink it?"

²⁶ Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities: For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought: But the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

³ You ask, and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it upon your lusts.

²⁵ It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call those of his household?

³¹ But he spoke more vehemently, "If I need to die with You, I will not in any case deny You." They all also said likewise.

³⁷ Peter said to Him, "Lord, why can I not follow You now? I will lay down my life for Your sake."

²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you, 'The servant is not greater than his lord.' If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept My sayings, they will keep yours also.

¹⁴ I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

² Moreover he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

²⁴ who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for His body's sake, which is the church:

⁹ I John, who am also your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos, for the Word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

²³ And He said to them, "You shall indeed drink of My cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: But to sit on My right hand, and on My left, is not Mine to give, but it shall be given to those for whom it is prepared by My Father."

² As you have given Him power over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him.

²⁴ Father, I will that those whom You have given Me are also with Me where I am; that they may behold My glory, which You have given Me: For You loved Me before the foundation of the world.

¹⁶ But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly: Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: For He has prepared a city for them.

¹⁰ Only by pride comes contention: But with the well advised is wisdom.

²⁴ And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren.

³³ Then He came to Capernaum: And being in the house He asked them, "What was it that you disputed among yourselves by the road?" ³⁴ But they held their peace: For by the road they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest. ³⁵ And He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, "If any man desires to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all." ³⁶ Then He took a child, and set him in the midst of them: And when He had taken him in His arms, He said to them,

²⁴ Moreover there also was strife among them, as to which of them should be deemed the greatest.

¹⁰ Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another;

³ Let nothing be done through strife or vain-glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves.

⁵ Do you think that the scripture says in vain, "The Spirit that dwells in us lusts to envy"?

²⁵ But Jesus called them to Him, and said, "You know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and those that are great exercise authority upon them.

²⁵ And He said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and those who exercise authority upon them are called 'benefactors.'

³ neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock.

²⁶ But it shall not be so among you: But whoever desires to be great among you, let him be your minister. ²⁷ And whoever desires to be chief among you, let him be your servant:

⁸ But you, do not be called 'Rabbi': For One is your Master, even Christ; and all you are brethren. ⁹ And do not call any man your father upon the earth: For One is your Father, which is in heaven. ¹⁰ Neither be called masters; For One is your Master, even Christ. ¹¹ But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. ¹² And whoever exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

³⁵ And He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, "If any man desires to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all."

⁴⁸ and said to them, "Whoever receives this child in My name receives Me: And whoever receives Me receives Him that sent Me: For he that is least among you all, the same shall be great."

¹¹ For whoever exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted."

¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: For everyone who exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted."

¹³ You call Me Master and Lord: And you say well; for so I am. ¹⁴ If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another's feet. ¹⁵ For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. ¹⁶ Truly, truly, I say to you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither is he that is sent greater than he that sent him. ¹⁷ If you know these things, happy are you if you do them. ¹⁸ I do not speak of you all: I know whom I have chosen: But that the scripture may be fulfilled, 'He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.'

³⁶ Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world: If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: But now My kingdom is not from here."

² And do not be conformed to this world: But be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

¹⁹ For though I am free from all men, yet I have made myself servant to all, that I might gain all the more. ²⁰ And to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to those that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain those that are under the law; ²¹ to those that are without law, as without law (not being without law to God, but under the law to Christ), that I might gain those that are without law. ²² To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. ²³ Now this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be a partaker of it with you.

¹³ For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

⁵ Likewise you younger ones, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes, all of you be subject to one another, and be clothed with humility: For "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." ⁶ Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time:

¹⁰ Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief: When you shall make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand. ¹¹ He shall see of the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied: By His knowledge my righteous servant shall justify many; for He shall bear their iniquities. ¹² Therefore I will divide to Him a portion with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong; because He has poured out His soul to death: And He was numbered with the transgressors; and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are determined upon your people and upon your holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy.

²⁶ And after sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself: And the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end of it shall be with a flood, and until the end of the war desolations are determined.

²⁸ Even as the Son of Man did not come to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many."

²⁶ But you all shall not be like this: But he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that serves.you all: In KJV, ye; hence "you all" signifies a plural "you" ²⁷ For who is greater, he that sits at food, or he that serves? Is it not he that sits at food? But I am among you as He that serves.

¹⁵ As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father: And I lay down My life for the sheep.

¹⁴ If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another's feet.

²¹ For He has made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that through His poverty you might be rich.

¹³ Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: For it is written, "Cursed is everyone that hangs on a tree":

⁵ Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: ⁶ Who, being in the form of God, did not count it robbery to be equal with God: ⁷ But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: ⁸ And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient to death, even the death of the cross.

⁴ one that rules his own house well, having his children in subjection with all gavity; ⁵ (For if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) ⁶ Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

¹⁴ who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

⁸ though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered;

¹⁹ but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

²⁹ And as they departed from Jericho, a large multitude followed Him. ³⁰ And behold, two blind men sitting by the roadside, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, "Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David." ³¹ And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: But they cried out all the more, saying, "Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David." ³² Then Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, "What do you will that I do to you?" ³³ They said to Him, "Lord, that our eyes may be opened." ³⁴ So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.

²⁰ Also there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, who was laid at his gate, full of sores,

²² And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: The rich man also died, and was buried;

³⁵ Now it came to pass, that as He was coming near Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the roadside begging:

⁸ Therefore the neighbors, and those who had previously seen him, that he was blind, said, "Is not this he who sat and begged?"

² And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask charitable alms of those that entered into the temple; ³ who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for charitable alms.

⁶ For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given: And the government shall be upon His shoulder: And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. ⁷ Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, on the throne of David, and on His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from now on even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

¹ And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

⁵ "Behold, the days come", said the LORD, "that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. ⁶ In His days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: And this is His name by which he shall be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

²³ And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, "He shall be called a Nazarene."

²⁷ And when Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying, and saying, "You, Son of David, have mercy on us."

²³ And all the people were amazed, and said, "Is this not the Son of David?"

²² And behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same borders, and cried to Him, saying, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil."

³⁰ And behold, two blind men sitting by the roadside, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, "Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David."

⁹ And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried out, saying: "Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest."

¹¹ Moreover the multitude said, "This is Jesus the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee."

⁴² saying, "What do you think of Christ? Whose Son is He?" They said to Him, "The Son of David." ⁴³ He said to them, "How then does David in the Spirit call Him 'Lord', saying, ⁴⁴ "The LORD said to my Lord, 'sit at My right hand, until I make Your enemies Your footstool?' " ⁴⁵ If David then calls Him 'Lord', how is He his Son?"

⁷¹ And when he had gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said to those that were there, "This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth."

²⁴ saying, "Let us alone; what have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are, the Holy One of God."

¹⁶ Then He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up: And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.

³⁶ And hearing the multitude passing by, he asked what it meant. ³⁷ And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.

⁴⁶ And Nathanael said to him, "Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see."

⁴¹ Others said, "This is the Christ." But some said, "Shall Christ come out of Galilee?

⁵² They answered and said to him, "Are you also from Galilee? Search, and look: For out of Galilee no prophet has arisen."

¹⁹ Now Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.

¹⁴ For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered to us."

²² And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David to be their king; to whom also He gave testimony, and said, 'I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who shall fulfill all My will.' ²³ From this man's seed, God has, according to His promise, raised up to Israel a Savior, Jesus:

³ concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; ⁴ and declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

¹⁶ "I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the Bright and Morning Star."

²⁴ And Jacob was left alone; and there a man wrestled with him until the breaking of the day. ²⁵ And when he saw that he did not prevail against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. ²⁶ And he said, "Let me go, for the day breaks." And he said, "I will not let you go, unless you bless me." ²⁷ And he said to him, "What is your name?" And he said, "Jacob." ²⁸ And he said, "Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel: For as a prince you have power with God and with men, and have prevailed."Israel; that is, A prince of God

¹² Also to you, O Lord, belongs mercy: For you render to every man according to his work.

¹³ And you shall seek Me, and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

²³ But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and implored Him, saying, "Send her away; for she cries out after us." ²⁴ But He answered and said, "I am not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." ²⁵ Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, "Lord, help me." ²⁶ But He answered and said, "It is not proper to take the children's bread, and throw it to dogs." ²⁷ And she said, "True, Lord: Yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table." ²⁸ Then Jesus answered and said to her, "O woman, great is your faith: Be it to you even as you intend." And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

¹³ Then little children were brought to Him, that He should put His hands on them, and pray: And the disciples rebuked them.

³¹ And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: But they cried out all the more, saying, "Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David."

³⁵ While He yet spoke, there came certain ones from the ruler of the synagogue's house who said, "Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Master any further?"

²⁶ The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nationality; and she implored Him that He would cast the devil out of her daughter. ²⁷ But Jesus said to her, "Let the children first be filled: For it is not proper to take the children's bread, and to cast it to the dogs." ²⁸ And she answered and said to Him, "Yes, Lord: Yet the dogs under the table eat from the children's crumbs." ²⁹ Then He said to her, "Because of this saying go your way; the devil has gone out of your daughter."

⁵ And He said to them, "Which of you having a friend, will go to him at midnight, and say to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves; ⁶ For a friend of mine on his journey has come to me, and I have nothing to set before him'? ⁷ And from within he shall answer and say, 'Do not trouble me: The door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you.' ⁸ I say to you, Though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his pressing requests he will rise and give him as much as he needs. ⁹ So I say to you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you. ¹⁰ For everyone that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.

¹ Moreover He spoke a parable to them leading to this end, that men always ought to pray, and not to faint; ² saying, "There was a judge in a city, who did not fear God, nor regarded man: ³ And there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, 'Avenge me from my adversary.' ⁴ And he would not for a while: But afterward he said within himself, 'Though I do not fear God, nor regard man; ⁵ yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.' " ⁶ And the Lord said, "Hear what the unjust judge said. ⁷ And shall not God avenge His own elect, who cry day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? ⁸ I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, shall He find faith on the earth?"

³⁹ And those who went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: But he cried out all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me."

¹⁸ Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching to the end with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

⁷ Who in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears to Him that was able to save Him from death, and was heard because He feared;

¹⁵ But You, O LORD, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in mercy and truth.

⁸ The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.

⁴⁰ Now Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be brought to Him: And when he had come near, He asked him,

²⁸ And when she had said this, she went her way, and secretly called Mary her sister, saying, "The Master has come, and calls for you."

¹⁷ Therefore, in all things it behoved him to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

¹⁵ For we do not have a High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

¹ Therefore seeing we also are compassed around with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily entangle us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

⁷ In that night did God appear to Solomon, and said to him, "Ask what I shall give you.

⁸ Therefore, do not be like them: For your Father knows what things you have need of, before you ask Him.

⁷ Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you:

⁷ greetings in the markets, and to be called by men, 'Rabbi, Rabbi.'

³⁶ And He said to them, "What do you will that I should do for you?"

⁴¹ saying, "What is your will that I should do to you?" And he said, "Lord, that I may receive my sight." ⁴² Then Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight: Your faith has saved you." ⁴³ And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God: And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

¹⁶ Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned herself around, and said to Him, "Rabboni"; which is to say, Master.

⁶ Do not be full of care for anything; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

⁹ For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.

⁸ The LORD opens the eyes of the blind: The LORD raises those who are bowed down: The LORD loves the righteous:

¹⁸ And in that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness. ¹⁹ The meek shall also increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

⁵ Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

¹⁶ And I will bring the blind by a way that they did not know; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness become light before them, and crooked things straight. I will do these things to them, and not forsake them. ¹⁷ They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, who trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, "you are our gods." ¹⁸ Hear, you deaf; and look, you blind, that you may see.

²² But Jesus turned himself around, and when He saw her, He said, "Daughter, be of good comfort; your faith has made you whole." And the woman was made whole from that hour.

²⁸ And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him: And Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They said to Him, "Yes, Lord." ²⁹ Then He touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith be it done to you." ³⁰ And their eyes were opened; and Jesus strictly charged them, saying, "See that no man knows it."

⁵ The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

²² Then someone was brought to Him who was possessed with a devil, blind, and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute both spoke and saw.

²⁸ Then Jesus answered and said to her, "O woman, great is your faith: Be it to you even as you intend." And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

¹⁴ Then the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple; and He healed them.

³¹ Therefore He came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered to them.

³⁴ And He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you whole; go in peace, and be whole of your plague."

²⁵ After that He put His hands upon his eyes again, and made him look up: And he was restored, and saw everyone clearly.

⁵⁰ And He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."

² and certain women, who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, ³ and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, who ministered to Him out of their substance.

⁵ As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." ⁶ When He had spoken in this manner, He spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay; ⁷ and said to him, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam" (which by interpretation is, Sent). Therefore he went his way, washed, and came back seeing.

³² Since the world began it has not been heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.

³⁹ And Jesus said, "For judgment I have come into this world, that those which do not see might see; and that those which see might be made blind."

¹⁸ to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith that is in Me.'
