Luke 9 Cross References - TKJU

1 Then He called His twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. 2 And He sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. 3 And He said to them, "Take nothing for your journey, neither walking staffs, nor bag, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. 4 And whatever house you enter into, there abide, and from there depart. 5 And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them." 6 And they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing everywhere. 7 Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by Him: And he was perplexed, because it was said by some, that John was risen from the dead; 8 and by some, that Elijah had appeared; and by others, that one of the old prophets was risen again. 9 And Herod said, "John I have beheaded: But who is this, of whom I hear such things?" And he desired to see Him. 10 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. And He took them, and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 Now when the people knew it, they followed Him: And He received them, and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those that had need of healing. 12 And when the day began to wear away, then the twelve came, and said to Him, "Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country all around, and lodge, and get provisions: For we are here in a deserted place." 13 But He said to them, "You give them something to eat." And they said, "We have no more except five loaves and two fish; unless we should go and buy food for all these people." 14 For there were about five thousand men. And He said to His disciples, "Make them sit down by fifties in a company." 15 And they did so, and made them all sit down. 16 Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed them, and broke, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude. 17 And they ate, and were all filled: And there was taken up twelve baskets of fragments that remained to them. 18 And it came to pass, as He was alone praying, His disciples were with Him: And He asked them, saying, "Who do the people say that I am?" 19 They answering said, "John the Baptist; but some say, Elijah; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again." 20 And He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answering said, "The Christ of God." 21 And He strictly instructed them, and commanded them to tell this thing to no one; 22 saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day." 23 Moreover He said to them all, "If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24 For whoever intends to save his life shall lose it: But whoever intends to lose his life for My sake, the same shall save it. 25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gains the whole world, and loses himself, or is cast away? 26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and of My words, of him the Son of Man shall be ashamed, when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's glory, and of the holy angels. 27 But I tell you in truth, there are some standing here who shall not taste of death, until they see the kingdom of God." 28 And it came to pass about eight days after these sayings, He took Peter, John, and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. 29 Then, as He prayed, the fashion of His countenance was altered, and His vesture was white and glistening. 30 And behold, two men talked with Him there, which were Moses and Elijah: 31 Who appeared in glory, and spoke of His decease which He should accomplish at Jerusalem. 32 But Peter and those that were with him were heavy with sleep: And when they were awake, they saw His glory, and the two men that stood with Him. 33 Then it came to pass, as they departed from Him, Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good for us to be here: And let us make three tabernacles; one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah": Not knowing what he said. 34 While he spoke this, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: And they feared as they entered into the cloud. 35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son: Hear Him." 36 Then when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close to their chests, and told no one in those days any of those things which they had seen. 37 And it came to pass on the next day, when they had come down from the hill, a great many people met Him. 38 And behold, a man from the multitude cried out, saying, "Master, I beseech You, look upon my son: For he is my only child. 39 And look, a spirit takes him, and he suddenly cries out; and it tears him that he foams afterward, and bruising him it harshly departs from him. 40 Therefore I implored Your disciples to cast it out; but they could not." 41 And Jesus answering said, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and bear with you? Bring your son here." 42 And as he was still coming, the devil threw him down, and tore him. Now Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the child, and delivered him again to his father. 43 And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while everyone wondered about all the things which Jesus did, He said to His disciples, 44 "Let these sayings sink down into your ears: For the Son of Man shall be delivered into the hands of men." 45 But they did not understand this saying, and it was hid from them, such that they did not perceive it: And they feared to ask Him about that saying. 46 Then there arose a dispute among them, which of them should be greatest. 47 And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by Him, 48 and said to them, "Whoever receives this child in My name receives Me: And whoever receives Me receives Him that sent Me: For he that is least among you all, the same shall be great." 49 Moreover John answered and said, "Master, we saw someone casting out devils in Your name; and we forbade him, because he does not follow with us." 50 But Jesus said to him, "Do not forbid him: For he that is not against us is for us." 51 And it came to pass, when the time had come that he was to be received up, He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, 52 and sent messengers before His face: And they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for Him. 53 And they did not receive Him, because His face was as though He would go to Jerusalem. 54 And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, would you like that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elijah did?" 55 But He turned and rebuked them, and said, "You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. 56 For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them." And they went to another village. 57 And it came to pass, that as they journeyed on the roadway, a certain man said to Him, "Lord, I will follow You wherever You go." 58 And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head." 59 Moreover He said to another, "Follow Me." But he said, "Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father." 60 Jesus said to him, "Let the dead bury their dead: But you go and preach the kingdom of God." 61 And another also said, "Lord, I will follow You; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house." 62 But Jesus said to him, "No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."

And others said, "It is a prophet, or like one of the prophets." 16 But when Herod heard of it, he said, "This is John, whom I beheaded; he has risen from the dead." 17 For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife; for he had married her. 18 For John had said to Herod, "It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife." 19 Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not: 20 For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly. 21 Then when a convenient day came, Herod made a supper on his birthday to his lords, high captains, and chief estate owners of Galilee; 22 And when Herodias' daughter came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and those who sat with him, the king said to the damsel, "Ask of me whatever you desire, and I will give it to you." 23 He even swore to her, "Whatever you shall ask of me, I will give it to you, up to half of my kingdom." 24 Now she went forth, and said to her mother, "What shall I ask?" And she said, "The head of John the Baptist." 25 And she came in immediately with haste to the king, and asked it, saying, "I desire that without delay you give me the head of John the Baptist on a platter." 26 And the king was exceedingly sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for the sakes of those who sat with him, he would not reject her request. 27 Therefore the king immediately sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought; and he went and beheaded him in the prison, 28 brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the damsel: And the damsel gave it to her mother.

And they said to Him, "Shall we go and buy two hundred silver coins worth of bread, and give them it to eat?" 38 He said to them, "How many loaves do you have? Go and see." And when they knew, they said, "Five, and two fish." 39 Then He commanded them to make everyone sit down by companies upon the green grass. 40 Then they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties. 41 And when He had taken the five loaves and the two fish, He looked up to heaven, blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to His disciples to set before them; and the two fish He divided among them all. 42 Yet they all ate, and were filled. 43 And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fish. 44 And those who had eaten the loaves were about five thousand men. 45 And immediately He compelled His disciples to get into the ship, and go before Him to the other side to Bethsaida, while He sent away the people.

1 To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David. My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me, and from the words of My roaring? 2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear; and in the night season, and am not silent. 3 But You are holy, O You that inhabit the praises of Israel. 4 Our fathers trusted in You: They trusted, and You delivered them. 5 They cried out to You, and were delivered: They trusted in You, and were not confounded. 6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. 7 All those that see Me laugh Me to scorn: They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, 8 "He trusted on the LORD that He would deliver Him: Let Him deliver Him, seeing He delighted in Him." 9 But You are He that took Me out of the womb: You made Me hope when I was on My mother's breasts. 10 I was cast upon You from the womb: You are My God from My mother's belly. 11 Be not far from Me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help. 12 Many bulls have compassed Me: Strong bulls of Bashan have beset Me around. 13 They gaped upon Me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion. 14 I am poured out like water, and all My bones are out of joint: My heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of My bowels. 15 My strength is dried up like a broken clay pot fragment; and My tongue sticks to My jaws; and you have brought Me into the dust of death. 16 For dogs have compassed around Me: The assembly of the wicked have enclosed Me: They pierced My hands and My feet. 17 I may count all My bones: They look and stare upon Me. 18 They part My garments among them, and cast lots upon My clothing. 19 But You, O LORD, be not far from Me: O My strength, hasten to help Me. 20 Deliver My soul from the sword; My darling self from the power of the dog. 21 Save Me from the lion's mouth: For You have heard Me from the horns of the unicorns. 22 I will declare Your name to My brethren: In the midst of the congregation I will praise You. 23 All you that fear the LORD, praise Him; all you seed of Jacob, glorify Him; and fear Him, all you seed of Israel. 24 For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither has He hid His face from him; but when he cried out to Him, He heard. 25 My praise shall be of You in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before those that fear Him. 26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: They shall praise the LORD that seek Him: Your heart shall live forever. 27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the LORD: And all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before You. 28 For the kingdom is the LORD's: And He is the governor among the nations. 29 All those that are fat upon earth shall eat and worship: All those that go down to the dust shall bow before Him: And none can keep alive his own soul. 30 A seed shall serve Him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation. 31 They shall come, and shall declare His righteousness to a people that shall be born, that He has done this.

Psalms 69:1-36

1 To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David. Save me, O God; for the waters have come in to my soul. 2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. 3 I am weary of my crying: My throat is dried: My eyes fail while I wait for my God. 4 Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head: Those who would destroy me, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty: Then I restored that which I did not take away. 5 O God, You know my foolishness; and my sins are not hidden from You. 6 Do not let those that wait on You, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: Do not let those that seek You be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel. 7 Because for Your sake I have borne reproach; shame has covered my face. 8 I have become a stranger to my brothers, and an alien to my mother's children. 9 For the zeal of Your house has eaten me up; and the reproaches of those that reproached You have fallen upon me. 10 When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach. 11 I also made sackcloth my garment; and I became a proverb to them. 12 Those who sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards. 13 But as for me, my prayer is to You, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of Your mercy hear me, in the truth of Your salvation. 14 Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: Let me be delivered from those that hate me, and out of the deep waters. 15 Do not let the flood waters overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and do not let the pit shut her mouth upon me. 16 Hear me, O LORD; for your lovingkindness is good: Turn to me according to the multitude of your tender mercies. 17 And do not hide Your face from Your servant; for I am in trouble: Hear me speedily. 18 Draw near to my soul, and redeem it: Deliver me because of my enemies. 19 You have known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonor: My adversaries are all before You. 20 Reproach has broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: And I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. 21 They also gave me gall for my food; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. 22 Let their table become a snare before them: And that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap. 23 Let their eyes be darkened, that they do not see; and make their loins continually to shake. 24 Pour out Your indignation upon them, and let Your wrathful anger take hold of them. 25 Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents. 26 For they persecute him whom You have smitten; and they speak to the grief of those whom You have wounded. 27 Add iniquity to their iniquity: And do not let them come into Your righteousness. 28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous. 29 But I am poor and sorrowful: Let Your salvation, O God, set me up on high. 30 I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. 31 This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bull that has horns and hoofs. 32 The humble shall see this, and be glad: And your heart shall live that seek God. 33 For the LORD hears the poor, and does not despise His prisoners. 34 Let the heaven and earth praise Him, the seas, and everything that moves in it. 35 For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: That they may dwell there, and have it in possession. 36 The seed of His servants also shall inherit it: And those that love His name shall dwell in it.

And to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? 2 For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: He has no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him. 3 He is despised and rejected by men; a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: And we hid our faces from Him as it were; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4 Surely He has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: Yet we had esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: The chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He did not open his mouth: He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so He does not open his mouth. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: And who shall declare His generation? For He was cut off out of the land of the living: For the transgression of My people was He stricken. 9 And He made His grave with the wicked, and with the rich in His death; because He had done no violence, neither was any deceit in His mouth. 10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief: When you shall make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand. 11 He shall see of the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied: By His knowledge my righteous servant shall justify many; for He shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will divide to Him a portion with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong; because He has poured out His soul to death: And He was numbered with the transgressors; and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Daniel 9:26

Matthew 16:21-28

21 From that time forward Jesus began to show to His disciples how He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised again the third day. 22 Then Peter took Him aside, and began to rebuke Him, saying, "Far be it from You, Lord: This shall not befall You." 23 But He turned, and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan: You are an offense to Me: For you do not savor the things that are of God, but those that are of men." 24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever will save his life shall lose it: And whoever will lose his life for My sake shall find it. 26 For what is a man profited, if he gains the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the Son of Man shall come in the glory of His Father with His angels; and then He shall reward every man according to his works. 28 Truly I say to you, There are some standing here who shall not taste death, until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.

2 Peter 1:16-18

16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17 For He received from God the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to Him from the Excellent Glory, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." 18 And we heard this voice which came from heaven, when we were with Him on the holy mountain.

2 Corinthians 3:7-11

7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraved in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away with: 8 How shall not the ministration of the Spirit be rather glorious? 9 For if the ministration of condemnation is glory, much more does the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. 10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excels. 11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remains is glorious.

15 Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife; and some also from goodwill: 16 The former preach Christ out of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains; 17 but the other out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. 18 What then? Notwithstanding in every way, whether in pretense, or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.

5 The Lord GOD has opened My ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back. 6 I gave My back to the smiters, and My cheeks to those who plucked off the hair: I did not hide My face from shame and spitting. 7 For the Lord GOD will help Me; therefore I shall not be confounded: Therefore I have set My face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed. 8 He is near who justifies Me; who will contend with Me? Let us stand together: Who is My adversary? Let him come near to Me. 9 Behold, the Lord GOD will help Me; who is he that shall condemn Me?
