¹ Then He called His twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. ² And He sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. ³ And He said to them, "Take nothing for your journey, neither walking staffs, nor bag, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. ⁴ And whatever house you enter into, there abide, and from there depart. ⁵ And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them." ⁶ And they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing everywhere. ⁷ Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by Him: And he was perplexed, because it was said by some, that John was risen from the dead; ⁸ and by some, that Elijah had appeared; and by others, that one of the old prophets was risen again. ⁹ And Herod said, "John I have beheaded: But who is this, of whom I hear such things?" And he desired to see Him. ¹⁰ And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. And He took them, and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. ¹¹ Now when the people knew it, they followed Him: And He received them, and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those that had need of healing. ¹² And when the day began to wear away, then the twelve came, and said to Him, "Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country all around, and lodge, and get provisions: For we are here in a deserted place." ¹³ But He said to them, "You give them something to eat." And they said, "We have no more except five loaves and two fish; unless we should go and buy food for all these people." ¹⁴ For there were about five thousand men. And He said to His disciples, "Make them sit down by fifties in a company." ¹⁵ And they did so, and made them all sit down. ¹⁶ Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed them, and broke, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude. ¹⁷ And they ate, and were all filled: And there was taken up twelve baskets of fragments that remained to them. ¹⁸ And it came to pass, as He was alone praying, His disciples were with Him: And He asked them, saying, "Who do the people say that I am?" ¹⁹ They answering said, "John the Baptist; but some say, Elijah; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again." ²⁰ And He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answering said, "The Christ of God." ²¹ And He strictly instructed them, and commanded them to tell this thing to no one; ²² saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day." ²³ Moreover He said to them all, "If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. ²⁴ For whoever intends to save his life shall lose it: But whoever intends to lose his life for My sake, the same shall save it. ²⁵ For what is a man advantaged, if he gains the whole world, and loses himself, or is cast away? ²⁶ For whoever is ashamed of Me and of My words, of him the Son of Man shall be ashamed, when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's glory, and of the holy angels. ²⁷ But I tell you in truth, there are some standing here who shall not taste of death, until they see the kingdom of God." ²⁸ And it came to pass about eight days after these sayings, He took Peter, John, and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. ²⁹ Then, as He prayed, the fashion of His countenance was altered, and His vesture was white and glistening. ³⁰ And behold, two men talked with Him there, which were Moses and Elijah: ³¹ Who appeared in glory, and spoke of His decease which He should accomplish at Jerusalem. ³² But Peter and those that were with him were heavy with sleep: And when they were awake, they saw His glory, and the two men that stood with Him. ³³ Then it came to pass, as they departed from Him, Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good for us to be here: And let us make three tabernacles; one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah": Not knowing what he said. ³⁴ While he spoke this, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: And they feared as they entered into the cloud. ³⁵ And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son: Hear Him." ³⁶ Then when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close to their chests, and told no one in those days any of those things which they had seen. ³⁷ And it came to pass on the next day, when they had come down from the hill, a great many people met Him. ³⁸ And behold, a man from the multitude cried out, saying, "Master, I beseech You, look upon my son: For he is my only child. ³⁹ And look, a spirit takes him, and he suddenly cries out; and it tears him that he foams afterward, and bruising him it harshly departs from him. ⁴⁰ Therefore I implored Your disciples to cast it out; but they could not." ⁴¹ And Jesus answering said, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and bear with you? Bring your son here." ⁴² And as he was still coming, the devil threw him down, and tore him. Now Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the child, and delivered him again to his father. ⁴³ And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while everyone wondered about all the things which Jesus did, He said to His disciples, ⁴⁴ "Let these sayings sink down into your ears: For the Son of Man shall be delivered into the hands of men." ⁴⁵ But they did not understand this saying, and it was hid from them, such that they did not perceive it: And they feared to ask Him about that saying. ⁴⁶ Then there arose a dispute among them, which of them should be greatest. ⁴⁷ And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by Him, ⁴⁸ and said to them, "Whoever receives this child in My name receives Me: And whoever receives Me receives Him that sent Me: For he that is least among you all, the same shall be great." ⁴⁹ Moreover John answered and said, "Master, we saw someone casting out devils in Your name; and we forbade him, because he does not follow with us." ⁵⁰ But Jesus said to him, "Do not forbid him: For he that is not against us is for us." ⁵¹ And it came to pass, when the time had come that he was to be received up, He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, ⁵² and sent messengers before His face: And they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for Him. ⁵³ And they did not receive Him, because His face was as though He would go to Jerusalem. ⁵⁴ And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, would you like that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elijah did?" ⁵⁵ But He turned and rebuked them, and said, "You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. ⁵⁶ For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them." And they went to another village. ⁵⁷ And it came to pass, that as they journeyed on the roadway, a certain man said to Him, "Lord, I will follow You wherever You go." ⁵⁸ And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head." ⁵⁹ Moreover He said to another, "Follow Me." But he said, "Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father." ⁶⁰ Jesus said to him, "Let the dead bury their dead: But you go and preach the kingdom of God." ⁶¹ And another also said, "Lord, I will follow You; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house." ⁶² But Jesus said to him, "No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."

¹ And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease. ² Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; ³ Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; ⁴ Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him. ⁵ These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, "Do not go onto the highway of the Gentiles, and do not enter into any city of the Samaritans:

¹⁹ And I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: And whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: And whatever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

¹³ And He went up into a mountain, and called to Him those whom He wished: And they came to Him. ¹⁴ Then He ordained twelve, that they should be with Him, and that He might send them forth to preach, ¹⁵ and to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils: ¹⁶ And Simon He surnamed Peter; ¹⁷ And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and He surnamed them Boanerges, which is, "The sons of thunder"; ¹⁸ and Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, and Simon the Cananite, ¹⁹ and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him: And they went into a house.

⁷ And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them forth two by two; and gave them power over unclean spirits; ⁸ And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, except only a staff; no bag, no bread, no money in their money pouch: ⁹ But be shod with sandals; and do not put on two coats. ¹⁰ And He said to them, "In whatever place where you enter into a house, abide there until you depart from that place. ¹¹ And whoever does not receive you, nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Truly I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city." ¹² Then they went out, and preached that people should repent. ¹³ And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.

¹⁷ And these signs shall follow those who believe; in My name they shall cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; ¹⁸ they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

¹³ And when it was day, He called His disciples to Him: And He chose twelve from them, whom He also named apostles; ¹⁴ Simon, (whom He also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew, ¹⁵ Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called Zelotes, ¹⁶ And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, who also was the traitor.

¹⁹ Behold, I give to you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: And nothing shall by any means hurt you.

¹² Truly, truly, I say to you, He that believes in Me, the works that I do he shall do also; and greater works than these he shall do; because I go to My Father.

⁸ But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Spirit will come upon you: And you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth."

¹⁶ And His name through faith in His name has made this man strong, whom you see and know: Yes, the faith which is through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

³⁰ by stretching forth Your hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of Your holy Child Jesus."

³⁴ And Peter said to him, "Aeneas, Jesus Christ makes you whole: Arise, and make your bed." Then he arose immediately.

² and saying, "Repent: For the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

⁷ And as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' ⁸ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: Freely you have received, freely give.

¹⁹ When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes, and takes away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the wayside.

¹⁴ And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness to all nations; and then the end shall come.

¹⁴ Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, ¹⁵ and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent, and believe the gospel."

¹² Then they went out, and preached that people should repent.

¹⁵ And He said to them, "Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

¹¹ Now when the people knew it, they followed Him: And He received them, and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those that had need of healing.

¹ After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two and two before His face into every city and place, where He Himself was about to go.

⁹ And heal the sick that are there, and say to them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.'

¹¹ 'Even the very dust of your city, which sticks on us, we wipe off against you: Nevertheless be sure of this, that the kingdom of God has come near to you.'

¹⁶ The Law and the prophets were until John: Since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presses into it.

³ how shall we escape, if we neglect such great salvation; which at first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those that heard Him; ⁴ God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, with diverse miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?

³ Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shall you dwell in the land, and truly you shall be fed.

⁹ Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your money pouch, ¹⁰ nor bag for your journey, nor two coats, neither shoes, nor even walking staffs: For the workman is worthy of his food. ¹¹ Also, whatever city or town you enter into, inquire who in it is worthy, and there abide until you depart out of it. ¹² And when you come into a house, salute it. ¹³ And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it: But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. ¹⁴ And whoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.

¹¹ He answered and said to them, "He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise."

²⁹ Levi also made Him a great feast in his own house: And there were a large number of publicans and others who sat down with them.

⁴ Carry neither money bag, nor satchel, nor shoes: And salute no man by the road. ⁵ And whatever house you enter into, first say, 'Peace be to this house.' ⁶ And if the son of peace is there, your peace shall rest upon it: If not, it shall return to you again. ⁷ And remain in the same house, eating and drinking such things as they give: For the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from house to house. ⁸ And whatever city you enter into, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: ⁹ And heal the sick that are there, and say to them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.' ¹⁰ But whatever city you enter into, and they do not receive you, go your way out into the streets of the same, and say, ¹¹ 'Even the very dust of your city, which sticks on us, we wipe off against you: Nevertheless be sure of this, that the kingdom of God has come near to you.' ¹² But I say to you, That it shall be more tolerable in that Day for Sodom, than for that city.

²² And He said to His disciples, "Therefore I say to you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat; neither for the body, what you shall put on.

²⁸ If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith?

³⁵ And He said to them, "When I sent you without money bag, satchel, and shoes, did you lack anything?" And they said, "Nothing."

⁴ No man that wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier.

¹¹ Also, whatever city or town you enter into, inquire who in it is worthy, and there abide until you depart out of it.

¹⁰ And He said to them, "In whatever place where you enter into a house, abide there until you depart from that place.

⁵ And whatever house you enter into, first say, 'Peace be to this house.' ⁶ And if the son of peace is there, your peace shall rest upon it: If not, it shall return to you again. ⁷ And remain in the same house, eating and drinking such things as they give: For the laborer is worthy of his wages. ¹⁵ And when she was baptized, and her household, she implored us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there." Therefore she compelled us.

¹³ Also I shook my lap, and said, "So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labor, that performs not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, "Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.

¹⁴ And whoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet. ¹⁵ Truly I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.

¹⁸ and you shall be brought before governors and kings for My sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

¹¹ And whoever does not receive you, nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Truly I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city."

³⁷ "Whoever receives one such of these children in My name, receives Me: And whoever receives Me, receives not Me, but Him that sent Me."

¹⁴ And He charged him to tell no one: "But go, and show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing, according to how Moses commanded, for a testimony to them."

⁴⁸ and said to them, "Whoever receives this child in My name receives Me: And whoever receives Me receives Him that sent Me: For he that is least among you all, the same shall be great."

⁵³ And they did not receive Him, because His face was as though He would go to Jerusalem. ⁵⁴ And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, would you like that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elijah did?" ⁵⁵ But He turned and rebuked them, and said, "You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. ⁵⁶ For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them." ¹⁶ He who hears you hears Me; he who despises you despises Me; and he who despises Me despises Him that sent Me."

⁵¹ But they shook off the dust from their feet against them, and came to Iconium.

⁶ But when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his clothes, and said to them, "Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: From now on I will go to the Gentiles."

²⁰ And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

¹⁵ so that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

¹¹ Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet. ¹² His strength shall be extremely hungry, and destruction shall be ready at his side.

¹⁹ How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors.

⁵ For it is a day of trouble, and of treading down, and of perplexity by the Lord GOD of hosts in the valley of vision, breaking down the walls, and of crying to the mountains.

⁴ The best of them is as a brier: The most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: The day of your watchmen and your visitation comes; now shall be their perplexity.

¹ At that time Herod the tetrarch heard about the fame of Jesus, ² and said to his servants, "This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works show forth themselves in him." ³ For Herod had laid hold of John and bound him, and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife. ⁴ Because John said to him, "It is not lawful for you to have her." ⁵ And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet. ⁶ But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod. ⁷ Upon that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she would ask. ⁸ And she, being instructed beforehand by her mother, said, "Give me John the Baptist's head here on a platter." ⁹ And the king was sorry: Nevertheless, for the oath's sake, and those who sat with him at the table, he commanded it to be given to her. ¹⁰ So he sent, and beheaded John in the prison. ¹¹ And his head was brought on a platter, and given to the damsel: And she brought it to her mother. ¹² Then his disciples came, and took away the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.

¹⁴ And King Herod heard of Him; (for His name was spread abroad): And he said, "that John the Baptist had risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works show forth themselves in him." ¹⁵ Others said, "It is Elijah." And others said, "It is a prophet, or like one of the prophets." ¹⁶ But when Herod heard of it, he said, "This is John, whom I beheaded; he has risen from the dead." ¹⁷ For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife; for he had married her. ¹⁸ For John had said to Herod, "It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife." ¹⁹ Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not: ²⁰ For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly. ²¹ Then when a convenient day came, Herod made a supper on his birthday to his lords, high captains, and chief estate owners of Galilee; ²² And when Herodias' daughter came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and those who sat with him, the king said to the damsel, "Ask of me whatever you desire, and I will give it to you." ²³ He even swore to her, "Whatever you shall ask of me, I will give it to you, up to half of my kingdom." ²⁴ Now she went forth, and said to her mother, "What shall I ask?" And she said, "The head of John the Baptist." ²⁵ And she came in immediately with haste to the king, and asked it, saying, "I desire that without delay you give me the head of John the Baptist on a platter." ²⁶ And the king was exceedingly sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for the sakes of those who sat with him, he would not reject her request. ²⁷ Therefore the king immediately sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought; and he went and beheaded him in the prison, ²⁸ brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the damsel: And the damsel gave it to her mother.

¹ Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene,tetrarch; or, governor of four provinces

¹⁹ They answering said, "John the Baptist; but some say, Elijah; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again."

²⁵ And there shall be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

¹⁰ And His disciples asked Him, saying, "Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?"

¹⁵ Others said, "It is Elijah." And others said, "It is a prophet, or like one of the prophets."

²⁸ Now they answered, "John the Baptist: But some say, Elijah; and others, one of the prophets."

²¹ Therefore they asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" And he said, "I am not." "Are you that prophet?" And he answered, "No."

³¹ The same day there came certain ones of the Pharisees, saying to Him, "Get out, and depart from this place: For Herod will kill You." ³² And He said to them, "You go, and tell that fox, 'Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.'

⁸ Moreover when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad: For he had desired for a long time to see Him, because he had heard many things about Him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by Him.

¹⁰ And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, "These are those whom the LORD has sent to walk to and fro through the earth."

²¹ Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

¹³ When Jesus heard about it, He departed from there by ship into a deserted place apart: But when the people heard of it, they followed Him on foot out of the cities. ¹⁴ And Jesus went forth, and saw a large crowd, and was moved with compassion toward them, and He healed their sick. ¹⁵ Moreover when it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, "This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy food for themselves." ¹⁶ But Jesus said to them, "They need not depart; you give them something to eat." ¹⁷ And they said to Him, "We have here only five loaves, and two fish." ¹⁸ He said, "Bring them here to Me." ¹⁹ Then He commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed, and broke, and gave the loaves to His disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. ²⁰ Then they all ate, and were filled: And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. ²¹ Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

⁷ "Why does this Man speak blasphemies like this? Who can forgive sins but God only?"

³⁰ Then the apostles gathered themselves together to Jesus, and told Him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught. ³¹ And He said to them, "Come out by yourselves into a deserted place, and rest a while": For there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure time even so much as to eat. ³² Therefore they departed into a deserted place by ship privately. ³³ But the people saw them departing, and many knew Him, and ran there on foot out of all the cities, passed them, and came together to Him. ³⁴ And Jesus, when He came out, saw many people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: And He began to teach them many things. ³⁵ And when the day was now far spent, His disciples came to Him, and said, "This is a deserted place, and now the time is far passed: ³⁶ Send them away, that they may go into the country all around, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: For they have nothing to eat." ³⁷ He answered and said to them, "You give them something to eat." And when they knew, they said, "Five, and two fish." ³⁹ Then He commanded them to make everyone sit down by companies upon the green grass. ⁴⁰ Then they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties. ⁴¹ And when He had taken the five loaves and the two fish, He looked up to heaven, blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to His disciples to set before them; and the two fish He divided among them all. ⁴² Yet they all ate, and were filled. ⁴³ And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fish. ⁴⁴ And those who had eaten the loaves were about five thousand men. ⁴⁵ And immediately He compelled His disciples to get into the ship, and go before Him to the other side to Bethsaida, while He sent away the people.

¹⁰ And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. And He took them, and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. ¹¹ Now when the people knew it, they followed Him: And He received them, and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those that had need of healing. ¹² And when the day began to wear away, then the twelve came, and said to Him, "Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country all around, and lodge, and get provisions: For we are here in a deserted place." ¹³ But He said to them, "You give them something to eat." And they said, "We have no more except five loaves and two fish; unless we should go and buy food for all these people." ¹⁴ For there were about five thousand men. And He said to His disciples, "Make them sit down by fifties in a company." ¹⁵ And they did so, and made them all sit down. ¹⁶ Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed them, and broke, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude. ¹⁷ And they ate, and were all filled: And there was taken up twelve baskets of fragments that remained to them.

¹⁷ And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, "Lord, even the devils are subject to us through Your name."

⁴⁴ Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

¹⁷ Obey those that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: For they watch for your souls, as those that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: For that is unprofitable for you.

¹ The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD has anointed me to preach good tidings to the meek; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

¹⁴ And Jesus went forth, and saw a large crowd, and was moved with compassion toward them, and He healed their sick.

³¹ Which of those two did the will of his father?" They said to Him, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

⁴³ Therefore I say to you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits of it.

³³ But the people saw them departing, and many knew Him, and ran there on foot out of all the cities, passed them, and came together to Him. ³⁴ And Jesus, when He came out, saw many people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: And He began to teach them many things.

⁵³ He has filled the hungry with good things; and the rich He has sent away empty.

³¹ And Jesus answering said to them, "Those that are whole do not need a physician, but those that are sick.

¹ And it came to pass afterward, that He went throughout every city and village, preaching and showing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: And the twelve were with Him,

¹⁰ And He said, "To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: But to others in parables; that 'Seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.'

² And He sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

³⁴ Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him that sent Me, and to finish His work.

³⁷ All that the Father gives Me shall come to Me; and he who comes to Me I will in no case cast out.

³¹ preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

¹⁴ How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?

¹⁷ So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

³ For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, "The reproaches of those that reproached You fell on Me."

² Preach the word; be at hand in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

¹⁶ Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

¹⁹ Yes, they spoke against God; they said, "Can God furnish a table in the wilderness? ²⁰ Behold, He smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can He give bread also? Can He provide flesh for His people"?

²⁵ And I will make a covenant of peace with them, and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land: And they shall dwell safely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods.

⁵ I knew you in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.

²³ But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and implored Him, saying, "Send her away; for she cries out after us."

³² Then Jesus called His disciples to Himself, and said, "I have compassion on the multitude, because they have continued with Me for three days now, and have nothing to eat: And I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint on the road."

³⁵ And when the day was now far spent, His disciples came to Him, and said, "This is a deserted place, and now the time is far passed: ³⁶ Send them away, that they may go into the country all around, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: For they have nothing to eat." ³⁷ He answered and said to them, "You give them something to eat." ¹ After these things Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias.

²¹ And Moses said, "The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and you have said, "I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month. ²² Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them? ²³ And the LORD said to Moses, "Is the LORD's hand waxed short? You shall see now whether my word shall come to pass to you or not.

⁴² And there came a man from Baalshalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of grain in its husk. And he said, "Give to the people, that they may eat. ⁴³ And his servitor said, "What, should I set this before a hundred men? He said again, Give the people, that they may eat: For thus says the LORD, They shall eat, and shall leave of it.

²⁴ There is that which scatters, and yet increases; and there is that which withholds more than is right, but it tends to poverty. ²⁵ The soul that blesses shall be made fat: And he that waters shall also be watered himself.

¹⁶ But Jesus said to them, "They need not depart; you give them something to eat." ¹⁷ And they said to Him, "We have here only five loaves, and two fish."

³⁷ He answered and said to them, "You give them something to eat." And they said to Him, "Shall we go and buy two hundred silver coins worth of bread, and give them it to eat?" ³⁸ He said to them, "How many loaves do you have? Go and see." And when they knew, they said, "Five, and two fish."

⁶ Then He commanded the people to sit down on the ground: And He took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, broke them, and gave them to His disciples to set before them; and they set them before the people.

⁴⁰ Let all things be done decently and in order.

¹ A Song of degrees. Shall I lift up my eyes to the hills? Where should my help come from? ² My help comes from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

¹⁹ Then He commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed, and broke, and gave the loaves to His disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

³⁶ And He took the seven loaves and the fish, and gave thanks, then broke them, and gave to His disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

³⁴ And looking up to heaven, He sighed, and said to him, "Ephphatha", that is, "Be opened."

¹⁹ And He took bread, gave thanks, and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you: Do this in remembrance of Me."

³⁰ And it came to pass, as He sat to eat with them, that He took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave to them.

¹¹ And Jesus took the loaves; and when He had given thanks, He distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those who were sitting down; and likewise of the fish as much as they desired.

²³ (Nevertheless, there came other boats from Tiberias near to the place where they ate bread, after that the Lord had given thanks):

³⁵ And when he had said these things, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in the presence of them all; and when he had broken it, he began to eat.

⁶ He who regards the day, regards it to the Lord; and he that does not regard the day, to the Lord he does not regard it. He that eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he that does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks.

³⁰ For if by grace I am a partaker, why am I spoken evil of for that which I give thanks?

²⁴ And when He had given thanks, He broke it, and said, "Take, eat: This is My body, which is broken for you: Do this in remembrance of Me."

⁴ For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused, if it is received with thanksgiving: ⁵ For it is sanctified by the Word of God and prayer.

⁴⁴ So he set it before them, and they ate, and left of it, according to the word of the LORD.

¹⁶ A little that a righteous man has is better than the riches of many wicked.

⁹ For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.

²⁵ The righteous eats to the satisfying of his soul: But the belly of the wicked shall be in want.

³⁷ And they all ate, and were filled: And they took up seven full baskets of the fragments that were left. ³⁸ Now those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.

⁹ Do you not yet understand, nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up? ¹⁰ Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up?

⁸ So they ate, and were filled: And they took up seven baskets of the leftover food fragments. ⁹ Now those who had eaten were about four thousand: And He sent them away.

¹⁹ When I broke the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments did you take up?" They said to Him, "Twelve." ²⁰ "Also, when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments did you take up?" And they said, "Seven."

¹⁸ But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, a sweet smelling savor, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God. ¹⁹ But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

¹³ When Jesus came inside the borders of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, "Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?" ¹⁴ And they said, "Some say that You are John the Baptist: Some Elijah; and others Jeremiah, or one of the prophets." ¹⁵ He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" ¹⁶ And Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

³⁶ Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, "Sit here, while I go and pray over there."

²⁷ And Jesus went out, and His disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: And by the road He asked His disciples, saying to them, "Who do men say that I am?" ²⁸ Now they answered, "John the Baptist: But some say, Elijah; and others, one of the prophets." ²⁹ And He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" And Peter answered and said to Him, "You are the Christ." ³⁰ Then He charged them that they should tell no man of Him.

¹ And it came to pass as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples."

³⁹ And He came out, and went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed; and His disciples also followed Him. ⁴⁰ And when He was at the place, He said to them, "Pray that you do not enter into temptation." ⁴¹ And He was withdrawn from them about a stone's throw, and knelt down, and prayed,

⁵ Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

² and said to his servants, "This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works show forth themselves in him."

⁷ Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by Him: And he was perplexed, because it was said by some, that John was risen from the dead; ⁸ and by some, that Elijah had appeared; and by others, that one of the old prophets was risen again.

²⁵ And they asked him, and said to him, "Why then do you baptize, if you are not that Christ, nor Elijah, neither that prophet?"

⁴⁰ Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, "Truly this is the Prophet."

¹⁷ They said to the blind man again, "What do you say about Him because He has opened your eyes?" He said, "He is a prophet."

⁴⁷ And if you salute your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even publicans do so?

¹⁵ He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" ¹⁶ And Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." ¹⁷ And Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah: For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father which is in heaven.

⁴² saying, "What do you think of Christ? Whose Son is He?" They said to Him, "The Son of David."

⁶³ But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said to Him, "I adjure You by the living God, that You tell us whether You are the Christ, the Son of God."

²⁹ And He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" And Peter answered and said to Him, "You are the Christ."

⁶¹ But He held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked Him, saying to Him, "Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?"

⁶⁷ "Are You the Christ? Tell us." And He said to them, "If I tell you, you will not believe:

⁴¹ He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, "We have found the Messiah", which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered and said to Him, "Rabbi, You are the Son of God; You are the King of Israel."

²⁹ "Come, see a Man which told me everything that I ever did. Is this not the Christ?"

⁴² Then they said to the woman, "Now we believe, not because of your speech: For we have heard Him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world."

⁶⁸ Then Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. ⁶⁹ And we believe and are sure that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

⁴¹ Others said, "This is the Christ." But some said, "Shall Christ come out of Galilee?

²⁷ She said to Him, "Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world."

³¹ But these are written, that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you might have life through His name.

³⁶ Moreover as they went on their way, they came to a certain body of water: And the eunuch said, "See, here is water; what does hinder me to be baptized?"

²² But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt in Damascus, proving that this is truly Christ.

³ revealing and alleging that it was necessary for Christ to have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that, "This Jesus, whom I preach to you, is Christ."

¹ Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: And everyone who loves Him that begot also loves him that is begotten of Him.

²⁰ Then He charged His disciples that they should tell no man that He was Jesus the Christ.

¹ Who has believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? ² For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: He has no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him. ³ He is despised and rejected by men; a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: And we hid our faces from Him as it were; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. ⁴ Surely He has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: Yet we had esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. ⁵ But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: The chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed. ⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. ⁷ He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He did not open his mouth: He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so He does not open his mouth. ⁸ He was taken from prison and from judgment: And who shall declare His generation? For He was cut off out of the land of the living: For the transgression of My people was He stricken. ⁹ And He made His grave with the wicked, and with the rich in His death; because He had done no violence, neither was any deceit in His mouth. ¹⁰ Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief: When you shall make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand. ¹¹ He shall see of the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied: By His knowledge my righteous servant shall justify many; for He shall bear their iniquities. ¹² Therefore I will divide to Him a portion with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong; because He has poured out His soul to death: And He was numbered with the transgressors; and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

²⁶ And after sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself: And the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end of it shall be with a flood, and until the end of the war desolations are determined.

⁷ "Awake, O sword, against My shepherd, and against the man that is My fellow", says the LORD of hosts: "Smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: And I will turn My hand upon the little ones.

²¹ From that time forward Jesus began to show to His disciples how He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised again the third day. ²² Then Peter took Him aside, and began to rebuke Him, saying, "Far be it from You, Lord: This shall not befall You." ²³ But He turned, and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan: You are an offense to Me: For you do not savor the things that are of God, but those that are of men." ²⁴ Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. ²⁵ For whoever will save his life shall lose it: And whoever will lose his life for My sake shall find it. ²⁶ For what is a man profited, if he gains the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? ²⁷ For the Son of Man shall come in the glory of His Father with His angels; and then He shall reward every man according to his works. ²⁸ Truly I say to you, There are some standing here who shall not taste death, until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.

¹² But I say to you, That Elijah has come already, and they did not know him, but have done to him whatever they intended. Likewise the Son of Man shall also suffer because of them."

²² And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:

³¹ And He began to teach them, that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, and by the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

³¹ For He taught His disciples, and said to them, "The Son of Man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill Him; then after He is killed, He shall rise the third day."

³³ saying, "Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man shall be delivered to the chief priests, and to the scribes; and they shall condemn Him to death, and shall deliver Him to the Gentiles: ³⁴ And they shall mock Him, and shall scourge Him, and shall spit upon Him, and shall kill Him: And the third day He shall rise again."

⁴⁴ "Let these sayings sink down into your ears: For the Son of Man shall be delivered into the hands of men."

³¹ Then He took the twelve to Himself, and said to them, "Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man shall be accomplished. ³² For He shall be delivered to the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully treated, and spit on: ³³ Then they shall scourge Him, and put Him to death: And the third day He shall rise again." ³⁴ Yet they understood none of these things: And this saying was hid from them, neither did they know the things which were spoken.

⁷ saying, 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.' "

²⁶ Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into His glory?"

²⁵ Who by the mouth of Your servant David has said, 'Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the LORD, and against His Christ.' ²⁷ "For truly against Your holy Child Jesus, whom You have anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, ²⁸ to do whatever Your hand and Your counsel determined beforehand to be done.

²⁷ For those that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not know Him, nor even the voices of the prophets which are read every Sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning Him. ²⁸ And though they found no cause for death in Him, yet they desired of Pilate that He should be slain. ²⁹ And when they had fulfilled all that was written about Him, they took Him down from the tree, and laid Him in a sepulchre.

⁴ and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

¹¹ Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them signified, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

³⁸ And he who does not take up his cross, and follow after Me, is not worthy of Me. ³⁹ He who finds his life shall lose it: And he who loses his life for My sake shall find it.

³⁴ And when He had called the people to Him with His disciples also, He said to them, "Whoever is willing to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. ³⁵ For whoever intends to save his life shall lose it; but whoever shall lose his life for My sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. ³⁶ For what shall it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? ³⁷ Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? ³⁸ For whoever therefore shall be ashamed of Me and of My words in this adulterous and sinful generation; the Son of Man shall also be ashamed of him, when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels."

²⁶ "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his father, mother, wife, children, brethren, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. ²⁷ And whoever does not bear his cross, and come after Me, cannot be My disciple.

²⁵ He who loves his life shall lose it; and he who hates his life in this world shall keep it to life eternal. ²⁶ If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant shall also be: If anyone serves Me, My Father will honor him.

¹³ For if you live after the flesh, you shall die: But if you through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, you shall live.

³⁰ And why do we stand in danger every hour? ³¹ I solemnly affirm by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

⁵ Therefore mortify your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

¹² Yes, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

¹² teaching us that through denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

³³ Whoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

²⁵ He who loves his life shall lose it; and he who hates his life in this world shall keep it to life eternal.

²³ Except that the Holy Spirit witnesses in every city, saying that chains and afflictions await me. ²⁴ But none of these things move me, neither do I count my life dear to myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

³⁵ Women received their dead raised to life again: And others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

¹⁰ Fear none of those things which you shall suffer: Behold, the devil shall throw some of you into prison, that you may be proven; and you shall have tribulation ten days: Be faithful to death, and I will give you a crown of life.

¹¹ And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they did not love their lives to the death.

⁶ Those that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; ⁷ none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: ⁸ (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceases forever):

⁴⁸ Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.

⁵⁰ and shall cast them into a furnace of fire: There shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth."

²⁶ For what is a man profited, if he gains the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

³⁶ For what shall it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?

⁴³ And if your hand causes you to offend, cut it off: It is better for you to enter into life maimed, than to go into hell having two hands, into the fire that shall never be quenched: ⁴⁴ Where 'Their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.' ⁴⁵ And if your foot causes you to offend, cut it off: It is better for you to enter into life crippled, than to be cast into hell having two feet, into the fire that shall never be quenched: ⁴⁶ Where 'Their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.' ⁴⁷ And if your eye causes you to offend, pluck it out: It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, than to be cast into hell fire having two eyes: ⁴⁸ Where 'Their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.'

⁵ Then the devil, taking Him up onto a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. ⁶ And the devil said to Him, "I will give You all this power, and the glory of them: For that is delivered to me; and I give it to whomever I desire. ⁷ Therefore, if You will worship me, all shall be Yours."

¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have a great many goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry." ' ²⁰ But God said to him, 'You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: Then whose shall those things be, which you have provided?' ²¹ So is he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

²⁴ Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.' ²⁵ But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted, and you are tormented.

¹⁸ Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst apart in the middle, and all his bowels gushed out.

²⁵ that he may take part in this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place."

²⁷ But I weary my body, and bring it into subjection: Lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

¹⁵ Who have forsaken the right way, and have gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; ¹⁶ but was rebuked for his iniquity: The mute donkey speaking with a man's voice hindered the madness of the prophet. ¹⁷ These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved forever.

⁷ To the degree she has glorified herself, and lived deliciously, give her that much torment and sorrow: For she says in her heart, 'I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.' ⁸ Therefore her plagues shall come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: For strong is the Lord God Who judges her.

⁶ But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. ⁷ All those that see Me laugh Me to scorn: They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, ⁸ "He trusted on the LORD that He would deliver Him: Let Him deliver Him, seeing He delighted in Him."

³ He is despised and rejected by men; a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: And we hid our faces from Him as it were; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

¹⁰ A fiery stream issued and came out from before Him: Thousand thousands ministered to Him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him: The judgment was set, and the books were opened.

²² Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name? And in Your name have cast out devils? And in Your name done many wonderful works?' ²³ And then I will profess to them, 'I never knew you: Depart from me, you that work iniquity.'

³² Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father which is in heaven. ³³ But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father which is in heaven.

²⁷ For the Son of Man shall come in the glory of His Father with His angels; and then He shall reward every man according to his works.

³⁰ And then the sign of the Son of Man shall appear in heaven: And then all the tribes of the earth shall mourn, and they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. ³¹ And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

³¹ When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He shall sit upon the throne of His glory:

⁶⁴ Jesus said to Him, "You have said it: Nevertheless I say to you all, in time to come you shall see the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven."

³⁸ For whoever therefore shall be ashamed of Me and of My words in this adulterous and sinful generation; the Son of Man shall also be ashamed of him, when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels."

⁸ Also I say to you, Whoever shall confess Me before men, him the Son of Man shall also confess before the angels of God: ⁹ But he that denies Me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.

²⁵ When once the Master of the house is risen up, and has shut the door, and you begin to stand outside, and to knock at the door, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us'; and He shall answer and say to you, 'I do not know you, nor what place you belong': ²⁶ Then you shall begin to say, 'We have eaten and drank in Your presence, and You have taught in our streets.' ²⁷ But He shall say, 'I tell you, I do not know you, nor what place you belong; depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.'

⁴⁴ How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from God only?

⁴³ For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

¹⁶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: For it is the power of God to salvation to everyone that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

¹⁰ Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: For when I am weak, then I am strong.

¹⁴ But God forbid that I should glory, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified to me, and I to the world.

⁸ in flaming fire taking vengeance on those that do not know God, and that do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: ⁹ Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power; ¹⁰ when He shall come to be glorified in His saints, and to be admired in all those that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

¹² For this reason I also suffer these things: Nevertheless I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed to Him until that day.

¹² If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him: If we deny Him, He will also deny us:

²⁶ esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: For he had respect for the recompense of the reward.

¹³ Therefore let us go forth to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach.

¹⁴ If you are reproached for the name of Christ, you are happier; for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you: On their part He is spoken evil of, but on your part He is glorified. ¹⁵ But let none of you suffer as a murderer, as a thief, as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people's matters. ¹⁶ Yet if any man suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this respect.

¹⁴ And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these people, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints,

⁷ Behold, He comes with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and also those which pierced Him: And all tribes of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so, Amen.

⁵ He that overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white garments; and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life, but I will confess his name before My Father, and before His angels."

¹¹ And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

⁸ But the fearful, unbelieving, the abominable, murderers, whoremongers, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: Which is the second death."

²⁸ Truly I say to you, There are some standing here who shall not taste death, until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.

¹ And He said to them, "Truly I say to you, That there are some of those who stand here, which shall not taste of death, until they have seen the kingdom of God come with power."

²⁵ Truly I say to you, I will no longer drink of the fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God."

²⁶ And it was revealed to him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

¹⁸ For I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God has come."

⁵¹ Truly, truly, I say to you, If anyone keeps My sayings, he shall never see death." ⁵² Then the Jews said to Him, "Now we know that You have a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and You say, 'If anyone keeps My sayings, he shall never taste death.'

⁵⁹ Then they took up stones to throw at Him: But Jesus hid Himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

² In My Father's house are many mansions: If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

⁷ Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: For if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

²² Jesus said to him, "If I will that he tarry until I come, what is that to you? You follow Me." ²³ Then this saying went out among the brethren, that this disciple should not die: Yet Jesus did not say to him, he shall not die; but, "If I will that he tarry until I come, what is that to you?"

⁹ But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that He by the grace of God might taste death for every man.

⁴ For my love they are my adversaries: But I give myself to prayer.

¹ Then after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and brought them up into a high mountain apart, ² and was transfigured before them: And His face shined as the sun, and His clothes were white as the light. ³ And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them there, talking with Him. ⁴ Then Peter answered, and said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here: If you are willing, let us make three tabernacles here; one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." ⁵ While he still spoke, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: And behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear Him." ⁶ And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces, and were greatly afraid. ⁷ Then Jesus came and touched them, and said, "Arise, and do not be afraid." ⁸ And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, except Jesus only. ⁹ Then as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, "Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of Man is risen again from the dead." ¹⁰ And His disciples asked Him, saying, "Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?" ¹¹ And Jesus answered and said to them, "Truly Elijah shall come first, and restore all things. ¹² But I say to you, That Elijah has come already, and they did not know him, but have done to him whatever they intended. Likewise the Son of Man shall also suffer because of them." ¹³ Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them about John the Baptist.

³⁷ And He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee with Him, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. ³⁸ And He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death: Tarry here, and watch with Me." ³⁹ And He went a little further, fell on His face, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me: Nevertheless not as I will, but as You will."

³⁵ Then in the morning, rising up a long while before daylight, He went out, and departed into a solitary place, and prayed there.

⁴⁶ And when He had sent them away, He departed into a mountain to pray.

² And after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John with Him, and led them up into a high mountain apart by themselves: And He was transfigured before them. ³ Then His clothes became shining, exceedingly white as snow; such as no launderer on earth can whiten them. ⁴ And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses: And they were talking with Jesus. ⁵ Then Peter answered, and said to Jesus, "Master, it is good for us to be here: And let us make three tabernacles; one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." ⁶ For he did not know what to say; because they were severely afraid. ⁷ And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son: Hear Him." ⁸ Then suddenly, when they had looked all around, they saw no man anymore, except Jesus only with themselves. ⁹ And as they came down from the mountain, He charged them that they should tell no one the things they had seen, until the Son of Man was risen from the dead. ¹⁰ And they kept that matter to themselves, questioning with one another what the Son of Man rising from the dead should mean. ¹¹ And they asked Him, saying, "Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?" ¹² And He answered and told them, "Elijah truly comes first, and restores all things; and how it is written concerning the Son of Man, that He must suffer many things, and be disregarded as nothing. ¹³ But I say to you, That Elijah has indeed come, and they have done to him whatever they intended, as it is written of him."

³³ And He took Peter, James, and John with Him, and began to be greatly alarmed, and to be very heavy; ³⁴ And He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death: Tarry here, and watch." ³⁵ He went forward a little farther, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him. ³⁶ And He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible for You; take away this cup from Me: Nevertheless not what I will, but what You will."

²¹ Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus was also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,

¹² And it came to pass in those days, that He went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

⁵¹ And when He came into the house, He permitted no one to go in, except Peter, James, and John, and the father and mother of the maiden.

¹⁸ And it came to pass, as He was alone praying, His disciples were with Him: And He asked them, saying, "Who do the people say that I am?"

¹ This is the third time I am coming to you. "By the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established."

⁷ Who in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears to Him that was able to save Him from death, and was heard because He feared;

²⁹ And it came to pass, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of testimony carried in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him. ³⁰ And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come near him. ³¹ And Moses called to them; and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned to him: And Moses talked with them. ³² And afterward all the children of Israel came near: And he gave them in commandment all that the LORD had spoken with him in Mount Sinai. ³³ And till Moses was done speaking with them, he put a veil on his face. ³⁴ But when Moses went in before the LORD to speak with Him, he took the veil off, until he came out. And he came out, and spoke to the children of Israel that which he was commanded. ³⁵ And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone: And Moses put the veil upon his face again, until he went in to speak with Him.

¹⁷ Your eyes shall see the king in His beauty: They shall behold the land that is very far off.

¹² After that, He appeared in another form to two of them, as they walked, and went into the country.

¹⁴ And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth.

¹⁵ And all that sat in the council, looking steadfastly upon him, saw his face as if it had been the face of an angel.

⁷ But what things were gain to me, those I counted as losses for Christ. ⁸ Yes without doubt, and I count all things as loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: For whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as dung, that I may win Christ,

¹⁶ For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. ¹⁷ For He received from God the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to Him from the Excellent Glory, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." ¹⁸ And we heard this voice which came from heaven, when we were with Him on the holy mountain.

¹³ and in the midst of the seven candlesticks One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet, and girded about the chest with a golden band. ¹⁴ His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and His eyes were as a flame of fire; ¹⁵ and His feet were like fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and His voice as the sound of many waters. ¹⁶ And He had in His right hand seven stars: And out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: And His countenance was as the sun shining in His strength.

³ And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them there, talking with Him. ⁴ Then Peter answered, and said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here: If you are willing, let us make three tabernacles here; one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."

⁴ And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses: And they were talking with Jesus. ⁵ Then Peter answered, and said to Jesus, "Master, it is good for us to be here: And let us make three tabernacles; one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." ⁶ For he did not know what to say; because they were severely afraid.

¹⁷ For He shall go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, 'to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children', and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."

²⁷ And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, He expounded to them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself.

⁴⁴ And He said to them, "These are the words which I spoke to you, while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the Law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the Psalms, concerning Me."

¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

²¹ But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the prophets; ²² even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ to all and upon all those who believe: For there is no difference: ²³ For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

⁷ But if the ministration of death, written and engraved in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away with: ⁸ How shall not the ministration of the Spirit be rather glorious? ⁹ For if the ministration of condemnation is glory, much more does the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. ¹⁰ For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excels. ¹¹ For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remains is glorious.

³ For this Man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house. ⁴ For every house is built by some man; but He that built all things is God. ⁵ And Moses truly was faithful in all His house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken afterwards; ⁶ but Christ as a Son over His own house; whose house we are, if we hold firm the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope steadfast to the end.

¹⁷ Elijah was a man subject to similar passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: And it did not rain on the earth for a period of three years and six months. ¹⁸ And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

²² saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day."

³² And He said to them, "You go, and tell that fox, 'Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.' ³³ Nevertheless I must walk today, tomorrow, and the day following: For it cannot be that a prophet perish outside of Jerusalem. ³⁴ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which kills the prophets, and stones those who are sent to you; how often I would have gathered your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!

²⁹ The next day John saw Jesus coming to him, and said, "Behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world.

²³ But we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling-block, and to the Greeks foolishness; ²⁴ but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

¹⁸ But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

²¹ Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able to even subdue all things to Himself.

⁴ When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then you shall also appear with Him in glory.

¹¹ Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them signified, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. ¹² To whom it was revealed that, not for themselves, but to us they ministered these things, which are now reported to you by those that have preached the gospel to you with the Holy Spirit sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

¹⁰ But the God of all grace, who has called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

¹⁵ Moreover, I will endeavor that after my decease you may be able to have these things always in remembrance.

⁶ And I beheld, and lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. ⁷ Then He came and took the book out of the right hand of Him that sat upon the throne. ⁸ And when He had taken the book, the four beasts and twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, every one of them having harps, and golden vials full of incense, which are the prayers of saints. ⁹ And they sang a new song, saying, "You are worthy to take the book, and to open its seals: For You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation; ¹⁰ and have made us kings and priests to our God: And we shall reign on the earth." ¹¹ Then I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels all around the throne, and the beasts, and the elders: And the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; ¹² saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing."

¹⁴ And I said to him, "Sir, you know." So he said to me, "These are those which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

¹⁸ And he said, "I beseech You, show me Your glory." ¹⁹ And He said, "I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy." ²⁰ And He said, "You cannot see My face: For there no man shall see Me, and live." ²¹ And the LORD said, "Behold, there is a place by Me, and you shall stand upon a rock: ²² And it shall come to pass, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by: ²³ And I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back parts: But My face shall not be seen."

¹ Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen on you. ² For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: But the LORD shall arise upon you, and His glory shall be seen on you. ³ And the Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.

¹⁹ The sun shall no longer be your light by day; neither shall the moon give light to you for brightness: But the LORD shall be to you an everlasting light, and your God your glory.

¹⁸ Now as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground: But he touched me, and set me upright.

⁹ Yet I heard the voice of his words: And when I heard the voice of his words, then I was in a deep sleep on my face, and my face was toward the ground.

⁴⁰ Then He came to the disciples, and found them asleep, and said to Peter, "What, could you not watch with Me one hour? ⁴¹ Watch and pray, that you do not enter into temptation: The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." ⁴² He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if this cup may not pass away from Me, unless I drink it, Your will be done." ⁴³ And He came and found them asleep again; for their eyes were heavy.

⁴⁵ And when He rose up from prayer, and had come to His disciples, He found them sleeping out of sorrow, ⁴⁶ And He said to them, "Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation."

²⁴ Father, I will that those whom You have given Me are also with Me where I am; that they may behold My glory, which You have given Me: For You loved Me before the foundation of the world.

² Beloved, now we are the sons of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: But we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.

⁴ And they shall see His face; and His name shall be in their foreheads. ⁵ And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God gives them light: And they shall reign forever and ever.

⁶ There are many that say, "Who will show us any good?" LORD, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us. ⁷ You have put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their grain and their wine increased.

⁴ One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple.

² to see Your power and Your glory, such as I have seen You in the sanctuary. ³ Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You. ⁴ Thus I will bless You while I live: I will lift up my hands in Your name. ⁵ My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips:

²⁸ But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all Your works.

¹⁴ And when they had come to the multitude, a certain man came to Him, kneeling down to Him, and saying,

³⁸ But Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you ask: Can you drink of the cup that I drink of? And be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?"

⁵ And Simon answering said to Him, "Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: Nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net."

⁸ Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us."

⁶ For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

¹⁹ And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them: ²⁰ And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them behind, but it gave light by night to these in front: So that the one did not come near the other all through the night.

³⁴ Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. ³⁵ And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. ³⁶ And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys: ³⁷ But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not journey until the day that it was taken up. ³⁸ For the cloud of the LORD was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

²² And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the LORD, Gideon said, "Alas, O LORD God! For because I have seen an angel of the LORD face to face.

²² And Manoah said to his wife, "We shall surely die, because we have seen God."

⁹ He bowed the heavens also, and came down: And darkness was under His feet. ¹⁰ And He rode upon a cherub, and flew: Yes, He flew upon the wings of the wind. ¹¹ He made darkness His secret place; His pavilion all around Him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

¹ The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rides on a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: And the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.

⁸ Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: For my becoming manner was turned into corruption in me, and I retained no strength.

⁵ While he still spoke, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: And behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear Him." ⁶ And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces, and were greatly afraid. ⁷ Then Jesus came and touched them, and said, "Arise, and do not be afraid."

⁷ And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son: Hear Him." ⁸ Then suddenly, when they had looked all around, they saw no man anymore, except Jesus only with themselves.

¹⁷ And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. Then He laid His right hand upon me, saying to me, "Do not fear; I am the First and the Last:

¹⁸ I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brothers, like to you, and will put My words in his mouth; and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him. ¹⁹ And it shall come to pass, that whoever will not listen to My words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

¹ Behold My servant, whom I uphold; My elect, in whom My soul delights; I have put My spirit on Him: He shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

³ Incline your ear, and come to Me: Hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. ⁴ Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.

¹⁷ And behold a voice from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

²² and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, "You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased."

¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

³⁵ The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand. ³⁶ He that believes in the Son has everlasting life: And he that does not believe the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him."

²² For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son: ²³ That all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that does not honor the Son does not honor the Father which sent Him. ²⁴ "Truly, truly, I say to you, He who hears My word, and believes on Him that sent Me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but has passed from death to life.

²² For Moses truly said to the fathers, 'The LORD your God shall raise up to you a Prophet similar to me from your brethren; you shall hear Him in all things, whatever He shall say to you. ²³ And it shall come to pass, that every soul who will not hear that Prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.'

³ how shall we escape, if we neglect such great salvation; which at first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those that heard Him;

⁷ Therefore (as the Holy Spirit says, "Today, if you will hear His voice, ⁸ do not harden your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

¹⁵ while it is said, "Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts, as in the provocation."

⁹ and being made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation to all those that obey Him;

²⁵ See that you do not refuse Him that speaks. For if those who refused 'Him that spoke on earth' did not escape, much more we shall not escape, if we turn away from Him that speaks from heaven: ²⁶ Whose voice then shook the earth: But now He has promised, saying, "Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven."

⁷ A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

⁶ For he did not know what to say; because they were severely afraid.

⁹ And as they came down from the mountain, He charged them that they should tell no one the things they had seen, until the Son of Man was risen from the dead. ¹⁰ And they kept that matter to themselves, questioning with one another what the Son of Man rising from the dead should mean.

¹⁴ And when they had come to the multitude, a certain man came to Him, kneeling down to Him, and saying, ¹⁵ "Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is a lunatic, and sorely vexed: For he often falls into the fire, and often into the water. ¹⁶ And I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him." ¹⁷ Then Jesus answered and said, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I endure you? Bring him here to Me." ¹⁸ And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: And the child was cured from that very hour. ¹⁹ Then the disciples came to Jesus apart, and said, "Why could we not cast him out?" ²⁰ And Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief: For truly I say to you, If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, 'Remove from here to yonder place'; and it shall move; and nothing shall be impossible to you.

¹⁴ And when He came to His disciples, He saw a large multitude around them, and the scribes questioning with them. ¹⁵ And when all the people beheld Him, immediately they were greatly amazed, and while running to Him saluted Him. ¹⁶ And He asked the scribes, "What are you questioning with them?" ¹⁷ Then one of the multitude answered and said, "Master, I brought my son to You, who has a mute spirit; ¹⁸ and wherever it takes him, it dashes him: And he foams, gnashes with his teeth, and withers away: Therefore I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out; but they could not." ¹⁹ He answered him, and said, "O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me." ²⁰ Then they brought him to Him: And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit dashed him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming. ²¹ So He asked his father, "How long ago was it since this came to him?" And he said, "From childhood. ²² And oftentimes it has cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: But if You can do anything, have compassion on us, and help us." ²³ Jesus said to him, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes." ²⁴ And immediately the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!" ²⁵ When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the fowl spirit, saying to it: "You dumb and deaf spirit, I charge you, come out of him, and enter no more into him." ²⁶ Then the spirit cried out, tore him sore, and came out of him: And he was as if one dead; to the extent that many said, "He is dead." ²⁷ But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose. ²⁸ And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, "Why couldn't we cast it out?" ²⁹ And He said to them, "This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting."

²⁰ And we said to my lord, 'We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loves him.'

¹⁰ And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: And they shall look upon Me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for Him, as one mourns for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for Him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

²² And behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same borders, and cried to Him, saying, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil."

¹² Now when He came near the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: And a great many people from the city were with her.

⁴¹ And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: And he fell down at Jesus' feet, and implored Him that He would come into his house: ⁴² For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay dying. But as He went the people crowded Him.

⁴⁷ When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him, and implored Him that He would come down, and heal his son: For he was at the point of death.

⁴ Because he had often been bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been pulled apart by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: Neither could any man tame him. ⁵ And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

²⁰ Then they brought him to Him: And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit dashed him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.

²⁶ Then the spirit cried out, tore him sore, and came out of him: And he was as if one dead; to the extent that many said, "He is dead."

³⁵ Then Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Hold your peace, and come out of him." And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, it came out of him, and did not hurt him.

²⁹ (For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: And he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he broke the bands, and was driven by the devil into the wilderness.)

⁴⁴ You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and did not abide in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: For he is a liar, and the father of it.

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour:

¹¹ And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew language is Abaddon, but in the Greek language his name is Apollyon.Apollyon; that is to say, A destroyer

³¹ And Gehazi passed on before them, and laid the staff on the face of the child; but there was neither voice, nor hearing. Why he went again to meet him, and told him, saying, "The child is not awaked.

²⁰ And Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief: For truly I say to you, If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, 'Remove from here to yonder place'; and it shall move; and nothing shall be impossible to you.

¹ Then He called His twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.

¹⁷ And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, "Lord, even the devils are subject to us through Your name." ¹⁸ And He said to them, "I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. ¹⁹ Behold, I give to you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: And nothing shall by any means hurt you.

¹³ Then certain ones of the vegabond Jews, exorcists, took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, "We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches." ¹⁴ And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and a chief of the priests, who did so. ¹⁵ And the evil spirit answered and said, "Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?" ¹⁶ Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

³ And Moses and Aaron came in to Pharaoh, and said to him, "Thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews, 'How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, that they may serve Me.

²⁸ And the LORD said to Moses, "How long do you refuse to keep My commandments and My laws?

¹¹ And the LORD said to Moses, "How long will this people provoke me? And how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have showed among them?

²⁷ how long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.

⁵ They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children: They are a perverse and crooked generation.

⁸ And it was so, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, "Why have you rent your clothes? Let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.

⁸ And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that did not set their heart aright, and whose spirit was not steadfast with God.

¹⁴ O Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long shall your vain thoughts lodge within you?

⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, "O generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

²⁸ Come to Me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

³⁹ But He answered and said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall be no sign given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah:

⁴⁵ Then he goes, and takes with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: And the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so it shall also be to this wicked generation."

⁴ A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall be no sign given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah." And He left them, and departed.

¹⁷ Then Jesus answered and said, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I endure you? Bring him here to Me."

³⁶ Truly I say to you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

¹⁹ He answered him, and said, "O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me."

¹⁴ But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased, and said to them, "Permit the little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them: For of such is the kingdom of God.

⁴⁹ Then Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they called the blind man, saying to him, "Be of good comfort, rise; He calls for you."

²⁵ And He said to them, "Where is your faith?" And they being afraid wondered, saying to one another, "What kind of man is this? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him."

⁹ Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long a time, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He that has seen Me has seen the Father; therefore how come you say, 'Show us the Father'?

²⁷ Then He said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and behold My hands; and reach your hand here, and thrust it into My side: And don't be faithless, but believing."

⁴⁰ And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Save yourselves from this crooked generation."

¹⁸ Then, for a period of about forty years He suffered their mannerisms in the wilderness.

⁴ Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

⁹ When your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My works forty years. ¹⁰ Therefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, 'They always err in their heart; and they have not known My ways.' ¹¹ So I swore in My wrath, 'They shall not enter into My rest.' ")

¹⁹ So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

² For the gospel was preached to us, as well as to them: But the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those that heard it.

¹¹ Therefore let us labor to enter into that rest, lest any man fall following the same example of unbelief.

²⁵ Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those that come to God by Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

²³ And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him to his mother: And Elijah said, "See, your son lives.

³⁶ And he called Gehazi, and said, "Call this Shunammite. So he called her. And when she was come in to him, he said, "Take up your son.

²⁶ And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried out with a loud voice, he came out of him. ²⁷ Then they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, "What thing is this? What new doctrine is this? For with authority He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him."

²⁶ Then the spirit cried out, tore him sore, and came out of him: And he was as if one dead; to the extent that many said, "He is dead." ²⁷ But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.

¹⁵ Then he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And He delivered him to his mother.

³⁹ And look, a spirit takes him, and he suddenly cries out; and it tears him that he foams afterward, and bruising him it harshly departs from him.

⁴¹ Moreover he gave her his hand, lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.

¹² Therefore rejoice, you heavens, and you that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has but a short time."

¹⁴ I will praise You; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Marvelous are Your works; and that my soul knows truly well.

⁶ Thus says the LORD of hosts; 'If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvelous in My eyes?' says the LORD of hosts.

⁵¹ Then He went up to them into the ship; and the wind ceased: And they were exceedingly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.

³⁰ Then they departed from there, and passed through Galilee; and He did not intend that anyone should know it. ³¹ For He taught His disciples, and said to them, "The Son of Man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill Him; then after He is killed, He shall rise the third day." ³² But they did not understand this saying, and were afraid to ask Him.

³⁶ Therefore they were all amazed, and spoke among themselves, saying, "What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out."

⁹ For he was astonished, and all who were with him, at the draw of the fish which they had taken:

²⁶ And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, "We have seen strange things today."

⁴³ And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while everyone wondered about all the things which Jesus did, He said to His disciples, ⁴⁴ "Let these sayings sink down into your ears: For the Son of Man shall be delivered into the hands of men." ⁴⁵ But they did not understand this saying, and it was hid from them, such that they did not perceive it: And they feared to ask Him about that saying.

¹⁰ And they knew it was he that sat begging for charitable alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple: Therefore they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. ¹¹ Now as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering. ¹² Now when Peter saw it, he answered to the people, "You men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why do you look so earnestly upon us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man walk? ¹³ The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His Son Jesus; whom you delivered up, and denied Him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go.

¹⁴ And David said to Gad, "I am in a great strait: Let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great: And let me not fall into the hand of man.

⁹ Rise up, you women that are at ease; hear my voice, you careless daughters; give ear to my speech. ¹⁰ Many days and years shall you be troubled, you careless women: For the vintage shall fail, the gathering shall not come.

²¹ From that time forward Jesus began to show to His disciples how He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised again the third day.

²² And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: ²³ And they shall kill Him, and the third day He shall be raised again." And they were exceedingly sorrowful.

¹⁸ "Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man shall be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes, and they shall condemn Him to death, ¹⁹ and shall deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify Him: And the third day He shall rise again."

³⁸ But when the vinedressers saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.' ³⁹ And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.

² "You know that after two days is the Feast of the Passover, and the Son of Man is betrayed to be crucified."

³¹ And He began to teach them, that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, and by the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

⁶⁶ And all those who heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, "What sort of child shall this be?" And the hand of the Lord was with him.

¹⁹ But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

⁵¹ Then He went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them: But His mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

³¹ Then He took the twelve to Himself, and said to them, "Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man shall be accomplished.

⁶ He is not here, but is risen: Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, ⁷ saying, 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.' "

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." ²⁰ Then the Jews said, "This temple was forty six years in building, and will You raise it up in three days?" ²¹ But He spoke of the temple of His body. ²² Therefore, when He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this to them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

⁴ But these things I have told you, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them. And these things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you.

¹¹ Jesus answered, "You could have no power at all against Me, unless it was given you from above: Therefore he that delivered Me to you has the greater sin."

²³ Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

¹³ The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His Son Jesus; whom you delivered up, and denied Him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. ¹⁴ But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted to you; ¹⁵ and killed the Prince of life, whom God has raised from the dead; of which we are witnesses.

³ That no man should be moved by these afflictions: For you yourselves know that we are appointed to this. ⁴ For truly, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and you know.

¹ Therefore we ought to give more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

² looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. ³ For consider Him that endured such contradiction from sinners against Himself, lest you be wearied and faint in your minds. ⁴ You have not yet resisted to the point of blood, striving against sin. ⁵ And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to children, "My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked by Him:

²² Then Peter took Him aside, and began to rebuke Him, saying, "Far be it from You, Lord: This shall not befall You."

¹⁶ And they reasoned among themselves, saying, "It is because we have no bread." ¹⁷ Then when Jesus knew it, He said to them, "Why do you reason, because you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive, neither understand? Do you still have your heart hardened? ¹⁸ Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember?

³² And He spoke that insight openly. Then Peter took Him, and began to rebuke Him. ³³ But when He had turned around and looked upon His disciples, He rebuked Peter, saying, "Get behind Me, Satan: For you do not savor the things that are of God, but the things that are of men."

¹⁰ And they kept that matter to themselves, questioning with one another what the Son of Man rising from the dead should mean.

³² But they did not understand this saying, and were afraid to ask Him.

⁵⁰ Yet they did not understand the saying which He spoke to them.

⁴⁶ Then there arose a dispute among them, which of them should be greatest.

³⁴ Yet they understood none of these things: And this saying was hid from them, neither did they know the things which were spoken.

¹⁶ His disciples did not understand these things at first: But when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him, and that they had done these things to Him.

³⁴ The people answered Him, "We have heard out of the law that Christ abides forever: Therefore how come You say, 'The Son of Man must be lifted up'? Who is this Son of Man?"

⁵ Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where You are going; therefore by what means can we know the way?"

¹⁷ Then some of His disciples said among themselves, "What is this that He says to us, 'A little while, and you shall not see Me: And again, a little while, and you shall see Me'; and, 'because I go to the Father'?" ¹⁸ They said therefore, "What is this that He says, 'A little while'? We cannot understand what He says."

¹⁴ But their minds were blinded: For till this day remains the same veil not taken away in the reading of the Old Testament; which veil is done away in Christ. ¹⁵ But even to this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart. ¹⁶ Nevertheless, when their heart shall turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away.

¹ At the same time the disciples came to Jesus asking, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" ² And Jesus called a little child to Him, and set him in the midst of them, ³ and said, "Truly I say to you, Unless you are converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. ⁴ Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. ⁵ And whoever receives one such little child in My name receives Me.

²⁰ Then the mother of Zebedee's children came to Him with her sons, worshiping Him, and desiring a certain thing from Him. ²¹ And He said to her, "What do you desire?" She said to Him, "Grant that these two sons of mine may sit, the one on Your right hand, and the other on the left, in Your kingdom." ²² And Jesus answered and said, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" They said to Him, "We are able."

⁶ And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, the chief seats in the synagogues, ⁷ greetings in the markets, and to be called by men, 'Rabbi, Rabbi.'

³³ Then He came to Capernaum: And being in the house He asked them, "What was it that you disputed among yourselves by the road?" ³⁴ But they held their peace: For by the road they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest. ³⁵ And He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, "If any man desires to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all." ³⁶ Then He took a child, and set him in the midst of them: And when He had taken him in His arms, He said to them, ³⁷ "Whoever receives one such of these children in My name, receives Me: And whoever receives Me, receives not Me, but Him that sent Me."

⁷ And He put forth a parable to those who were called, when He noted how they chose the uppermost rooms; saying to them, ⁸ "When you are invited by anyone to a wedding, do not sit down in the highest room; lest a man more honorable than you be called by him; ⁹ and he who invited you and him come and say to you, 'Give this man a place'; and you begin with shame to take the lowest room. ¹⁰ But when you are invited, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he who invited you comes, he may say to you, 'Friend, go up higher': Then you shall have honor in the presence of those who sit at food with you. ¹¹ For whoever exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted."

²⁴ Moreover there also was strife among them, as to which of them should be deemed the greatest. ²⁵ And He said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and those who exercise authority upon them are called 'benefactors.' ²⁶ But you all shall not be like this: But he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that serves.you all: In KJV, ye; hence "you all" signifies a plural "you" ²⁷ For who is greater, he that sits at food, or he that serves? Is it not he that sits at food? But I am among you as He that serves.

³ For I say, through the grace given to me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, in accordance with how God has dealt to every man the measure of faith.

¹⁰ Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another;

²⁰ idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, ²¹ envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, as I have also told you in time past, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

²⁵ If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. ²⁶ Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

³ Let nothing be done through strife or vain-glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves.

¹⁴ Do all things without murmuring and disputing:

⁹ I wrote to the church: But Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, does not receive us.

² You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thoughts afar off.

²³ Search me, O God, and know my heart: Try me, and know my thoughts:

¹⁰ I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

⁴ But Jesus knowing their thoughts said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts?

² And Jesus called a little child to Him, and set him in the midst of them, ³ and said, "Truly I say to you, Unless you are converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. ⁴ Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

¹³ Then little children were brought to Him, that He should put His hands on them, and pray: And the disciples rebuked them. ¹⁴ But Jesus said, "Permit little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them: For of such is the kingdom of heaven." ¹⁵ And He laid His hands on them, and departed from there.

¹⁴ But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased, and said to them, "Permit the little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them: For of such is the kingdom of God. ¹⁵ Truly I say to you, Whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter into it."

²² But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answering said to them, "What are you reasoning in your hearts?

³⁹ Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke within himself, saying, "This Man, if He were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that touches Him: For she is a sinner." ⁴⁰ And Jesus answering said to him, "Simon, I have something to say to you." So he said, "Master, speak on."

²⁵ and did not need from man that any should testify: For He knew what was in man.

³⁰ Now we are sure that You know all things, and need not that any man ask You: By this we believe that You came forth from God."

¹⁷ He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.

²⁰ Brethren, do not be children in understanding: Yet in malice be children, but in understanding be men.

¹³ Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight: But all things are naked and uncovered to the eyes of Him with Whom we have to give account.

¹ Therefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speaking, ² as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow thereby:

²³ And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am He which searches the inner reins and hearts: And I will give to every one of you according to your works.

¹² Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honor is humility.

⁴⁰ He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. ⁴¹ He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. ⁴² And whoever shall give one of these little ones only a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you, He shall in no case lose his reward."

⁵ And whoever receives one such little child in My name receives Me. ⁶ But whoever offends one of these little ones who believes in Me, it would be better for him that a millstone were hung around his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

¹⁰ Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I say to you that in heaven their angels always behold the face of My Father which is in heaven.

¹⁴ Likewise, it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.

²⁸ And Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you, That in the regeneration when the Son of Man shall sit on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me shall also sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

¹¹ But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. ¹² And whoever exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

⁴⁰ And the King shall answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, Inasmuch as you have done it to one of the least of these My brethren, you have done it to Me.'

⁴⁵ Then He shall answer them, saying, 'Truly I say to you, Inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.'

²⁸ For I say to you, Among those who are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: But he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he."

¹¹ For whoever exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted."

⁴⁴ Jesus cried out and said, "He who believes upon Me, believes not upon Me, but upon Him that sent Me. ⁴⁵ And he who sees Me sees Him that sent Me.

²⁰ Truly, truly, I say to you, He that receives whomever I send receives Me; and he that receives Me receives Him that sent Me."

²¹ He that has My commandments, and keeps them, it is he that loves Me: And he that loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him, and will manifest Myself to him."

⁸ Therefore he that despises, does not despise man, but God, who has also given to us His Holy Spirit.

³ neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock. ⁴ And when the Chief Shepherd shall appear, you shall receive a crown of glory that does not fade away.

⁶ Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time:

²¹ To him that overcomes I will grant to sit with Me in My throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne."

¹⁴ And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

²⁷ And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, "Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp. ²⁸ And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, "My lord Moses, forbid them. ²⁹ And Moses said to him, "Envy you for my sake? Would God that all the LORD's people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit on them!

³⁸ And John answered Him, saying, "Master, we saw someone casting out devils in Your name, and he does not follow us: Therefore we forbade him, because he does not follow us." ³⁹ But Jesus said, "Do not forbid him: For there is no man who does a miracle in My name, that can quickly afterward speak evil of Me. ⁴⁰ For he who is not against us is on our side.

¹³ Then they brought young children to Him, that He should touch them; and His disciples rebuked those who brought them. ¹⁴ But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased, and said to them, "Permit the little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them: For of such is the kingdom of God.

¹⁸ Therefore they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. ¹⁹ But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge.

²⁸ saying, "Did we not strictly command you that you should not teach in this name? And behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man's blood upon us."

¹⁶ Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to always fill up their sins: For the wrath has come upon them to the uttermost.

⁹ I wrote to the church: But Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, does not receive us. ¹⁰ Therefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he does, prating against us with malicious words: And not content with that, neither does he himself receive the brethren, and forbids those that would receive them, and drives them out of the church.

¹⁴ And the men took of their food, and asked not counsel at the mouth of the LORD.

⁵ Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding. ⁶ In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

³⁰ He that is not with Me is against Me; and he that does not gather with Me scatters abroad.

²⁸ He said to them, 'An enemy has done this.' The servants said to him, 'Do you then desire that we go and gather them up?' ²⁹ But he said, 'No; lest while you gather up the tares, you also uproot the wheat with them. ³⁰ Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, "First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn." '

²⁴ And when they had come to Capernaum, those who received tribute money came to Peter, and said, "Does not your Master pay tribute?"

²⁶ Peter said to Him, "From strangers." Jesus said to him, "Then the children are free.

⁴¹ For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, truly I say to you, He shall not lose his reward.

²³ He who is not with Me is against Me: And he that does not gather with Me scatters.

¹³ No servant can serve two masters: For either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."

³ Therefore I make known to you that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed: And that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Spirit.

¹⁵ Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife; and some also from goodwill: ¹⁶ The former preach Christ out of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains; ¹⁷ but the other out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. ¹⁸ What then? Notwithstanding in every way, whether in pretense, or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.

¹ And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. ² And Elijah said to Elisha, "Tarry here, I implore you; for the LORD has sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said to him, "As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. So they went down to Bethel. ³ And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said to him, "Do you know that the LORD will take away your master from your head today? And he said, "Yes, I know it; hold you your peace.

¹¹ And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

⁵ The Lord GOD has opened My ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back. ⁶ I gave My back to the smiters, and My cheeks to those who plucked off the hair: I did not hide My face from shame and spitting. ⁷ For the Lord GOD will help Me; therefore I shall not be confounded: Therefore I have set My face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed. ⁸ He is near who justifies Me; who will contend with Me? Let us stand together: Who is My adversary? Let him come near to Me. ⁹ Behold, the Lord GOD will help Me; who is he that shall condemn Me? See, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.

¹⁹ So then after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

⁵⁰ But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how pressed I am until it is accomplished!

²² And He went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem.

¹¹ And it came to pass, as He went to Jerusalem, that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

¹¹ Now as they heard these things, He added and spoke another parable, because He was near Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.

²⁸ Then after He had spoken this, He went in front, ascending up to Jerusalem.

⁵¹ And it came to pass, while He blessed them, He was separated from them, and carried up into heaven.

⁶² Then what if you shall see the Son of Man ascend up where He was before?

¹ Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.

⁵ But now I go My way to Him that sent Me; and none of you asks Me, 'Where are You going?'

²⁸ I came forth from the Father, and have come into the world: Again, I leave the world, and go to the Father."

¹¹ And now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your own name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one, as We are.

² until the day in which He was taken up, after that He gave commandments through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom He had chosen:

⁹ And when He had spoken these things, while they beheld, He was taken up; and a cloud received Him out of their sight.

²² And now behold, I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

¹¹ When he had come to us, he took Paul's belt, bound his own hands and feet, and said, "Thus says the Holy Spirit, 'So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this belt, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.' " ¹² Now when we heard these things, both we, and those from that place, implored him not to go up to Jerusalem. ¹³ Then Paul answered, "What makes you weep and to break my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus." ¹⁴ Now when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, "The will of the Lord be done."

²⁰ which He worked in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places,

⁸ Therefore He says: "When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men." ⁹ (Now that "He ascended", what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He that descended is also the same that ascended up far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.) ¹¹ And He gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers;

¹⁴ I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

¹⁶ And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen among angels, preached to the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

²⁰ where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, made a High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

² looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

²² Who has gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject to Him.

²⁴ And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: And they possessed Samaria, and dwelled in its cities. ²⁵ And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the LORD: Therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which slew some of them. ²⁶ Why they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, "The nations which you have removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: Therefore he has sent lions among them, and behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land. ²⁷ Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, "Carry thither one of the priests whom you brought from there; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land. ²⁸ Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelled in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD. ²⁹ However, every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities in which they dwelled. ³⁰ And the men of Babylon made Succothbenoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima, ³¹ and the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim. ³² So they feared the LORD, and made to themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places. ³³ They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from there.

¹ Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity built the temple to the LORD God of Israel; ² then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said to them, "Let us build with you: For we seek your God, as you do; and we do sacrifice to him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assur, which brought us up here. ³ But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said to them, "You have nothing to do with us to build a house to our God; but we ourselves together will build to the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia has commanded us. ⁴ Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building, ⁵ and hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.

¹ "Behold, I will send My messenger, and he shall prepare the way before Me: And the Lord, Whom all of you seek, shall suddenly come to His temple, even the Messenger of the covenant, Whom you all delight in: Behold, He shall come", says the LORD of hosts.

⁵ These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, "Do not go onto the highway of the Gentiles, and do not enter into any city of the Samaritans:

²⁷ This is he, of whom it is written, 'Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, which shall prepare Your way before You.'

³³ But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: And when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

¹⁶ and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks: And he was a Samaritan.

⁴⁸ Then the Jews answered, and said to Him, "Do we not say full well that You are a Samaritan, and have a devil?"

⁹ Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, "How is it that You, being a Jew, ask for a drink from me, who am a woman of Samaria?" For the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans came to Him, they implored Him that he would tarry with them: And He abode there two days. ⁴¹ And many more believed because of His own word; ⁴² Then they said to the woman, "Now we believe, not because of your speech: For we have heard Him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world."

² And the king called the Gibeonites, and said to them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn to them: And Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah).

¹⁰ And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume you and your fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. ¹¹ Again also he sent to him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said to him, "O man of God, thus has the king said, "Come down quickly. ¹² And Elijah answered and said to them, "If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume you and your fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. ¹³ And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and sought him, and said to him, "O man of God, I implore you, let my life, and the life of these fifty your servants, be precious in your sight. ¹⁴ Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties: Therefore let my life now be precious in your sight.

¹⁶ And he said, "Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD. So they made him ride in his chariot.

³¹ But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: For he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin.

²⁹ And now Lord, behold their threats: And grant to Your servants, that with all boldness they may speak Your word, ³⁰ by stretching forth Your hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of Your holy Child Jesus."

¹⁹ Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: ²⁰ For the wrath of man does not work the righteousness of God.

¹⁴ But if you have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, do not boast, and do not lie against the truth. ¹⁵ This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. ¹⁶ For where envying and strife are, there is confusion and every evil work. ¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. ¹⁸ And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those that make peace.

³ And I saw one of his heads, how it was wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: And all the world wondered after the beast.

¹⁰ And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said to them, "Hear now, you rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? ¹¹ And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: And the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. ¹² And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, Because you believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

⁴ And the men of David said to him, "Behold the day of which the LORD said to you, 'Behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hand, that you may do to him as it shall seem good to you.' " Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privately. ⁵ And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt. ⁶ And he said to his men, "The LORD forbid that I should do this thing to my master, the LORD's anointed, to stretch forth my hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD." ⁷ So David settled his servants with these words, and did not permit them to rise against Saul. But Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.

⁸ Then Abishai said to David, "God has delivered your enemy into your hand this day: Now therefore let me smite him, I implore you, with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not smite him the second time." ⁹ And David said to Abishai, "Do not slay him: For who can stretch forth his hand against the LORD's anointed, and be guiltless?" ¹⁰ David furthermore said, "As the LORD lives, the LORD shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish. ¹¹ The LORD forbid that I should stretch forth my hand against the LORD's anointed: But, I implore you, now take the spear that is at his head, and the cup of water, and let us go."

²² And David said, "What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah, that you should this day be adversaries to me? Shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? For do not I know that I am this day king over Israel?

¹⁰ But he said to her, "You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. What? Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

⁴ To whom have you uttered words? And whose spirit came from you?

²⁹ If I rejoice at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him: ³⁰ Neither have I suffered my mouth to sin by wishing a curse to his soul. ³¹ If the men of my tabernacle said not, Oh that we had of his flesh! We cannot be satisfied.

⁴ Let us choose to us judgment: Let us know among ourselves what is good. ⁵ For Job has said, "I am righteous: And God has taken away my judgment. ⁶ Should I lie against my right? My wound is incurable without transgression. ⁷ What man is like Job, who drinks up scorning like water? ⁸ Which goes in company with the workers of iniquity, and walks with wicked men. ⁹ For he has said, "It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.

² think you this to be right, that you said, "My righteousness is more than God's? ³ For you said, "What advantage will it be to you? And, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin? ⁴ I will answer you, and your companions with you.

⁶ For which reason I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.

⁸ Do not reprove a scorner, lest he hate you: Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you.

⁹ The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: Who can know it?

²³ But He turned, and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan: You are an offense to Me: For you do not savor the things that are of God, but those that are of men."

³³ Peter answered and said to Him, "Though all men shall be offended because of You, yet I will never be offended."

⁴¹ Watch and pray, that you do not enter into temptation: The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

⁵¹ And behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and cut off his ear.

⁹ Of sin, because they do not believe upon Me;

³ Then Paul said to him, "God shall smite you, you whitened wall: For you sit to judge me according to the law, and do you command me to be beaten contrary to the law?" ⁴ And those who stood by said, "Do you revile God's high priest?" ⁵ Then Paul said, "I was not aware, brethren, that he was the high priest: For it is written, 'You shall not speak evil of the ruler of your people.' "

⁹ "I truly thought within myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth. ¹⁰ Which things I also did in Jerusalem: And many of the saints I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them. ¹¹ And I punished them often in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly furious against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities.

¹⁰ Out of the same mouth proceeds blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

⁹ Not rendering evil for evil, or returning reproach for reproach: But on the contrary blessing; knowing that you are called to this, that you should inherit a blessing.

¹⁹ As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: Therefore be zealous, and repent.

³⁹ But I say to you, That you are not to resist evil: But whoever smites you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.

²⁸ Even as the Son of Man did not come to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many."

²⁷ But I say to you who hear; Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, ²⁸ bless those that curse you, and pray for those who despitefully use you. ²⁹ And to him that smites you on the one cheek, offer also the other; and him that takes away your cloak, do not forbid to take your coat also. ³⁰ Give to every man that asks of you; and from him that takes away your goods, do not ask for them back again. ³¹ And as you would like that men should do to you, you also do to them likewise.

¹⁰ For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."

⁵¹ And Jesus answered and said, "Allow thus far." And He touched his ear, and healed him.

³⁴ Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." And they divided His clothes, and cast lots.

¹⁷ For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.

¹⁰ The thief does not come, but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I have come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

⁴⁷ And if anyone hears My words, and does not believe, I do not judge him: For I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

²¹ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

¹⁵ This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

²¹ For even to this you were called: Because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: ²² "Who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth": ²³ Who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten; but committed Himself to Him that judges righteously:

⁸ And all the people answered together, and said, "All that the LORD has spoken we will do." And Moses returned the words of the people to the LORD.

¹⁹ Then a certain scribe came, and said to him, "Master, I will follow You wherever You go." ²⁰ And Jesus said to Him, "The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head." ²¹ And another of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, permit me to first go and bury my father." ²² But Jesus said to him, "Follow Me; and let the dead bury their dead."

⁵¹ And it came to pass, when the time had come that he was to be received up, He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem,

⁵⁷ And it came to pass, that as they journeyed on the roadway, a certain man said to Him, "Lord, I will follow You wherever You go." ⁵⁸ And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head." ⁵⁹ Moreover He said to another, "Follow Me." But he said, "Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father." ⁶⁰ Jesus said to him, "Let the dead bury their dead: But you go and preach the kingdom of God."

³⁷ Peter said to Him, "Lord, why can I not follow You now? I will lay down my life for Your sake."

¹⁹ And Joshua said to the people, You cannot serve the LORD: For he is a holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins. ²⁰ If you forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he has done you good. ²¹ And the people said to Joshua, "No; but we will serve the LORD. ²² And Joshua said to the people, You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen you the LORD, to serve him. And they said, "We are witnesses.

³ Yes, the sparrow has found a house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even Your altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God.

²⁰ And Jesus said to Him, "The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head."

²⁶ "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his father, mother, wife, children, brethren, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. ²⁷ And whoever does not bear his cross, and come after Me, cannot be My disciple. ²⁸ For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first, and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it? ²⁹ Lest perhaps, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, ³⁰ saying, 'This man began to build, and was not able to finish.' ³¹ Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first, and consult whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him that comes against him with twenty thousand? ³² Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation, and desires conditions of peace. ³³ So likewise, whoever he is among you who does not forsake all that he has, he cannot be My disciple.

²² Now when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, "You still lack one thing: Sell all that you have, and distribute to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: And come, follow Me." ²³ And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: For he was very rich.

⁶⁰ Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, "This is a hard saying; who can understand it?" ⁶¹ When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples murmured at it, He said to them, "Does this offend you? ⁶² Then what if you shall see the Son of Man ascend up where He was before? ⁶³ It is the Spirit that makes alive; the flesh profits nothing: The words that I speak to you, they are spirit, and they are life. ⁶⁴ But there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that did not believe, and who would betray Him. ⁶⁵ And He said, "Therefore I said to you, that no man can come to Me, unless it was given to him by My Father." ⁶⁶ From that time many of His disciples went back, and no longer walked with Him.

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that through His poverty you might be rich.

⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren, has not God chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which He has promised to those that love Him?

²⁰ And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, "Let me, I implore you, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you. And he said to him, "Go back again: For what have I done to you?

² "Thus speaks the LORD of hosts, saying, 'This people say, "The time has not come, the time that the LORD's house should be built." '

¹⁹ And He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." ²⁰ And they immediately left their nets, and followed Him. ²¹ And going on from there, He saw two other brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them. ²² And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed Him.

³³ But you, seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

⁹ And as Jesus departed from there, He saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of customs: And He said to him, "Follow Me." And he arose, and followed Him.

²⁴ Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

³² It was proper that we should make merry, and be glad: For your brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.' "

¹⁵ So when they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs." ¹⁶ He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My sheep." ¹⁷ He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.

¹⁶ For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of: For necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me, if I do not preach the gospel!

¹⁶ Therefore from now on, we regard no man according to the flesh: Yes, though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet from now on we know Him no longer. ¹⁷ Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: Old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new. ¹⁸ Now all things are from God, who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

¹ And you He has vivified, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

⁵ even when we were dead in sins, has vivified us together with Christ, (by grace you are saved);

⁶ But she that lives in pleasure is dead while she lives.

³ You therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. ⁴ No man that wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier.

⁵ But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of your ministry.

¹ "And to the angel of the church in Sardis write; 'These things says He that has the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; "I know your works, that you have a name that you live, yet are dead.

⁹ who said to his father and to his mother, I have not seen him; neither did he acknowledge his brothers, nor knew his own children: For they have observed your word, and kept your covenant.

¹⁰ Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, where you go.

³⁷ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me: And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. ³⁸ And he who does not take up his cross, and follow after Me, is not worthy of Me.

¹⁸ But they all in one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, 'I have bought a piece of ground, and I really need to go and see it: I beseech you to have me excused.' ¹⁹ And another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to examine them: I beseech you to have me excused.' ²⁰ Yet another said, 'I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.'

²⁶ "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his father, mother, wife, children, brethren, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.

⁸ And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that did not set their heart aright, and whose spirit was not steadfast with God. ⁹ The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.

³¹ In that day, he who shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: And he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. ³² Remember Lot's wife.

³⁷ Moreover Barnabas was determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark. ³⁸ But Paul did not think it would be good to take him with them, who departed from them at Pamphylia, and did not go with them to the work.

¹³ Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended: But this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth to those things which are ahead,

¹⁰ For Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.

³⁸ Now the just shall live by faith: But if any man draws back, My soul shall have no pleasure in him."

⁶ But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavers is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. ⁷ For let not that man think that he shall receive anything from the Lord. ⁸ A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.

²⁰ For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them, and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. ²¹ For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. ²² But it has happened to them according to the true proverb, "The dog returned to his own vomit again"; and, "the hog that was washed to her wallowing in the mire."
