² And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.

⁵⁰ And to Joseph two sons were born before the years of famine came, which Asenath, the daughter of Potipherah, priest of On, bore to him.

³⁶ Take you no usury of him, or increase: But fear your God; that your brother may live with you. ³⁷ You shall not give him your money on usury, nor lend him your food for increase.

¹⁹ You shall not lend on usury to your brother; usury of money, usury of food, usury of anything that is lent on usury: ²⁰ To a stranger you may lend on usury; but to your brother you shall not lend on usury: That the LORD your God may bless you in all that you set your hand to in the land where you go to possess it.

¹⁴ Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people, transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and polluted the house of the LORD which he had hallowed in Jerusalem. ¹⁵ And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: ¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy. ¹⁷ Therefore he brought on them the king of the Chaldeans, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age: He gave them all into his hand.

²⁰ And those that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:

⁹ And the contemptible man bows down, and the great man humbles himself: Therefore do not forgive them.

² The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient, ³ the captain of fifty, and the honorable man, and the counselor, and the cunning artisan, and the eloquent orator. ⁴ And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them. ⁵ And the people shall be oppressed, everyone by another, and everyone by his neighbor: The child shall himself behave proudly against the elderly, and the vile against the honorable. ⁶ When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, "You have clothing, you be our ruler, and let this ruin be under your power": ⁷ In that day he shall swear, saying, "I will not be a healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: Do not make me a ruler of the people. ⁸ For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: Because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of His glory.

¹⁵ And the contemptible man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:

¹⁴ Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and bulrush, in one day. ¹⁵ The elder and honorable, he is the head; and the prophet that teaches lies, he is the tail. ¹⁶ For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and those that are led by them are destroyed. ¹⁷ Therefore the LORD shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: For everyone is a hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is outstretched still.

³ O LORD, are not your eyes upon the truth? You have stricken them, but they have not grieved; You have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: They have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return. ⁴ Therefore I said, "Surely these are poor; they are foolish: For they do not know the way of the LORD, nor the judgment of their God. ⁵ I will go myself to the great men, and will speak to them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: But these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds. ⁶ Why a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: Every one who goes out there shall be torn in pieces: Because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings have increased.

¹¹ For both prophet and priest are profane; yes, in My house I have found their wickedness", said the LORD. ¹² "Therefore their way shall be to them like slippery ways in the darkness: They shall be driven on, and fall in them: For I will bring evil on them, even the year of their visitation", said the LORD. ¹³ "And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused My people Israel to err.

² Then Ishmael the son of Nethaniah arose, and the ten men who were with him, and smote Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword, and slew him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.

¹⁸ For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; 'As My anger and My fury has been poured forth on the inhabitants of Jerusalem; so shall My fury be poured forth on you, when you shall enter into Egypt: And you shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and you shall see this place no more.'

¹¹ Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; 'Behold, I will set My face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah. ¹² And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the famine: They shall die, from the least even to the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: And they shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach. ¹³ For I will punish those who dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:

²⁴ And the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the door: ²⁵ He took also out of the city an eunuch, which had the charge of the men of war; and seven men of those that were near the king's person, which were found in the city; and the principal scribe of the host, who mustered the people of the land; and three score men of the people of the land, that were found in the midst of the city. ²⁶ So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah. ²⁷ And the king of Babylon smote them, and put them to death in Riblah in the land of Hamath. Thus Judah was carried away captive out of his own land. ²⁸ This is the people whom Nebuchadrezzar carried away captive: In the seventh year three thousand and twenty-three Jews: ²⁹ In the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar he carried away captive from Jerusalem eight hundred and thirty-two persons: ³⁰ In the three and twentieth year of Nebuchadrezzar Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the Jews seven hundred and forty-five persons: All the persons were four thousand six hundred.

¹³ For the sins of her prophets, and the iniquities of her priests, that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her,

¹² Princes are hung up by their hand: The faces of elders were not honored. ¹³ They took the young men to grind, and the children fell under the wood. ¹⁴ The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their music.

¹² The time has come, the day draws near: Let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn: For wrath is upon all their multitude. ¹³ For the seller shall not return to that which was sold, although they were yet alive: For the vision is touching the whole multitude, which shall not return; neither shall any strengthen himself in the iniquity of his life.

⁸ And I will set My face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of My people; and you shall know that I am the LORD. ⁹ And if the prophet is deceived when he has spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out My hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of My people Israel. ¹⁰ And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: The punishment of the prophet shall be the same as the punishment of him who seeks him;

⁵ we have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and from Your judgments: ⁶ Neither have we hearkened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our princes, our rulers, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. ⁷ O LORD, righteousness belongs to You, but to us confusion of faces, as at this time; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries to which You have driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against You. ⁸ O Lord, to us belongs confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against You.

⁹ And there shall be, like people, like priest: And I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.

⁸ Knowing that whatever good any man does, he shall receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a bond-servant or free. ⁹ And you, masters, do the same things to them, forbearing threatening: Knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there reverence of persons with Him.
