¹ And God spoke all these words, saying, ² "I am the LORD your God, which have brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. ³ You shall have no other gods before Me. ⁴ You shall not make for yourself any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: ⁵ You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them: For I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of those that hate Me; ⁶ and showing mercy to thousands of those that love Me, and keep My commandments. ⁷ You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that takes His name in vain. ⁸ Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. ⁹ Six days you shall labor, and do all your work: ¹⁰ But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God: In it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your domestic beasts, nor your stranger that is within your gates: ¹¹ For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day: Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it. ¹² Honor your father and your mother: That your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God gives you. ¹³ You shall not kill. ¹⁴ You shall not commit adultery. ¹⁵ You shall not steal. ¹⁶ You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. ¹⁷ You shall not covet your neighbor's house, you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's." ¹⁸ And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: And when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off. ¹⁹ And they said to Moses, "You speak with us, and we will hear: But do not let God speak with us, lest we die." ²⁰ And Moses said to the people, "Do not fear: For God has come to prove you, and that His fear may be before your faces, that you do not sin." ²¹ And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was. ²² And the LORD said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'You have seen that I have talked with you from heaven. ²³ You shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall you make for yourself gods of gold. ²⁴ You shall make to Me an altar of earth, and shall sacrifice your burnt offerings on it, and your peace offerings, your sheep, and your oxen: In all places where I record My name I will come to you, and I will bless you. ²⁵ And if you will make Me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of hewn stone: For if you lift up your tool upon it, you have polluted it. ²⁶ Neither shall you go up by steps to My altar, that your nakedness is not discovered upon it.' "

³³ Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the middle of the fire, as you have heard, and live?

³⁶ Out of heaven he made you to hear his voice, that he might instruct you: And on earth he showed you his great fire; and you heard his words out of the middle of the fire.

⁴ The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the middle of the fire,

²² These words the LORD spoke to all your assembly in the mount out of the middle of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: And he added no more. And he wrote them in two tablets of stone, and delivered them to me.

³⁸ "This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spoke to him in Mount Sinai, and with our fathers: Who received the lively oracles to give to us:

⁵³ Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it."

⁷ And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your seed after you in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to you, and to your seed after you. ⁸ And I will give to you, and to your seed after you, the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God."

¹ And the LORD said to Moses, "Go in to Pharaoh: For I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might show My signs before him: ² And that you may tell in the ears of your son, and of your son's son, what things I have worked in Egypt, and My signs which I have done among them; that you may know that I am the LORD." ³ And Moses and Aaron came in to Pharaoh, and said to him, "Thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews, 'How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, that they may serve Me. ⁴ Otherwise, if you refuse to let My people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring the locusts into your borders: ⁵ And they shall cover the face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: And they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remains to you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which grows for you out of the field: ⁶ And they shall fill your houses, and the houses of all your servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians; which neither your fathers, nor your fathers' fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth to this day.' " And he turned himself, and went out from Pharaoh. ⁷ And Pharaoh's servants said to him, "How long shall this man be a snare to us? Let the men go, that they may serve the LORD their God: Do you not yet know that Egypt is destroyed?" ⁸ And Moses and Aaron were brought back again to Pharaoh: And he said to them, "Go, serve the LORD your God: But who are those that shall go?" ⁹ And Moses said, "We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds we will go; for we must hold a feast to the LORD." ¹⁰ And he said to them, "Let the LORD be so with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: Look to it; for evil is before you. ¹¹ Not so: Go now, you that are men, and serve the LORD; for you desired that." And they were driven out from Pharaoh's presence. ¹² And the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail has left." ¹³ And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts. ¹⁴ And the locust went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the borders of Egypt: Very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such. ¹⁵ For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they ate every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: And there did not remain any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.

³ And Moses said to the people, "Remember this day, in which you came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out from this place: There shall be no leavened bread eaten.

³⁶ Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall you have: I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt.

⁴³ That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

¹ You shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither raise you up a standing image, neither shall you set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down to it: For I am the LORD your God.

¹³ I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their servants; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.

⁶ I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

¹⁵ And remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD your God brought you out there through a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm: Therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.

⁴ Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: ⁵ And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.

⁸ But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn to your fathers, has the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of servants, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

¹⁰ And you shall stone him with stones, that he die; because he has sought to thrust you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

¹⁵ And you shall remember that you were a bondman in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God redeemed you: Therefore I command you this thing today.

⁶ And the Egyptians evil entreated us, and afflicted us, and laid on us hard bondage: ⁷ And when we cried out to the LORD God of our fathers, the LORD heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labor, and our oppression: ⁸ And the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders:

⁵ Why the LORD his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they smote him, and carried away a great multitude of them captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter.

⁷ Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, even your God.

¹⁰ I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt: Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

¹ "At the same time", said the LORD, "I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be My people."

³³ "But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days", said the LORD, "I will put My law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be My people.

⁴ "Yet I am the LORD your God from the land of Egypt, and you shall know no god but Me: For there is no Savior besides Me.

²⁹ Is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:

¹² For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: For the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.

¹¹ Who is like You, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?

²³ You shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall you make for yourself gods of gold.

⁷ You shall have none other gods before me.

⁵ And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.

¹⁴ You shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are all around you;

¹⁸ And the LORD drove out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelled in the land: Therefore will we also serve the LORD; for He is our God. ¹⁹ And Joshua said to the people, You cannot serve the LORD: For he is a holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins. ²⁰ If you forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he has done you good. ²¹ And the people said to Joshua, "No; but we will serve the LORD. ²² And Joshua said to the people, You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen you the LORD, to serve him. And they said, "We are witnesses. ²³ Now therefore put away, he said, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart to the LORD God of Israel. ²⁴ And the people said to Joshua, "The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.

²⁹ However, every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities in which they dwelled. ³⁰ And the men of Babylon made Succothbenoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima, ³¹ and the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim. ³² So they feared the LORD, and made to themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places. ³³ They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from there. ³⁴ To this day they do after the former manners: They fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel; ³⁵ with whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, "You shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:

² Give to the LORD the glory due to His name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

²⁵ Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is none on earth that I desire beside you.

⁹ there shall be no strange god in you; neither shall you worship any strange god.

⁴ Trust in the LORD forever: For in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

¹⁰ You are My witnesses", says the LORD, and My servant whom I have chosen: That you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He: Before Me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after Me.

⁸ Fear not, neither be afraid: Have I not told you from that time, and have declared it? You are even My witnesses. Is there a God besides Me? Yes, there is no God; I do not know any.

²¹ All of you tell, and bring them near; yes, let them take counsel together: Who has declared this from ancient times? Who has told it from that time? Have I not, the LORD? And there is no God besides Me; a just God and a Savior; there is none besides me. ²² Look to Me, and you will be saved, all the ends of the earth: For I am God, and there is none other.

⁹ Remember the former things of old: For I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like Me,

⁶ And do not go after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and do not provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no harm.'

¹⁵ I have also sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, 'Return now each man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and do not go after other gods to serve them, and you shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers': But you have not inclined your ear, nor listened to Me.

¹⁰ Then Jesus said to Him, "Get away from here, Satan: For it is written, 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only shall you serve.' "

⁴ Therefore concerning the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one.

⁶ yet to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we ourselves by Him.

⁵ For this you know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

¹⁹ Whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

¹⁸ Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshiping of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is true, and we are in Him that is true, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. ²¹ Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

¹⁰ And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said to me, "See that you do not do it: I am your fellow-servant, and of your brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: Worship God: For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

⁹ Then he said to me, "See that you do not do it: For I am your fellow-servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: Worship God."

¹ And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron, and said to him, "Rise up, make us gods, which shall go before us; because, as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him."

⁸ They have quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them: They have made themselves a molten calf, and have worshiped it, and have sacrificed to it, and said, 'These be your gods, O Israel, which have brought you up out of the land of Egypt.' "

²³ For they said to me, 'Make us gods, which shall go before us: Because, as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.'

¹⁷ You shall make yourself no molten gods.

⁴ Do not turn to idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God.

¹⁵ Take you therefore good heed to yourselves; for you saw no manner of similitude on the day that the LORD spoke to you in Horeb out of the middle of the fire: ¹⁶ Lest you corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female, ¹⁷ the likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged fowl that flies in the air, ¹⁸ the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth: ¹⁹ And lest you lift up your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, should be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD your God has divided to all nations under the whole heaven.

²³ Take heed to yourselves, lest you forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of anything, which the LORD your God has forbidden you. ²⁴ For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God. ²⁵ When you shall beget children, and children's children, and you shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of anything, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD your God, to provoke him to anger:

⁸ You shall not make you any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:

¹⁵ cursed be the man that makes any graven or molten image, an abomination to the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and puts it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, "Amen.

²⁸ Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said to them, "It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: Behold your gods, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

⁷ And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name forever:

⁷ All those who serve graven images are confounded, that boast themselves of idols: Worship Him, all you gods.

⁴ Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. ⁵ They have mouths, but they do not speak; they have eyes, but they do not see; ⁶ they have ears, but they do not hear: They have noses, but they do not smell: ⁷ They have hands, but they do not handle: They have feet, but they do not walk: Neither do they speak through their throat. ⁸ Those who make them are similar to them; so is everyone that trusts in them.

¹⁵ The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. ¹⁶ They have mouths, but they do not speak; they have eyes, but they do not see; ¹⁷ they have ears, but they do not hear; neither is there any breath in their mouths. ¹⁸ Those that make them are like them: So is everyone that trusts in them.

¹⁸ To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare to Him? ¹⁹ The workman melts a graven image, and the goldsmith spreads it over with gold, and casts silver chains. ²⁰ He who is so impoverished that he has no oblation chooses a tree that will not rot; he seeks for himself a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.

⁸ I am the LORD: That is My name: And My glory I will not give to another, neither My praise to graven images.

¹⁷ They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, who trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, "you are our gods."

⁹ Those who make a graven image, all of them are vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they do not see, nor know; that they may be ashamed. ¹⁰ Who has formed a god, or cast a graven image that is profitable for nothing? ¹¹ Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: And the workmen, they are of men: Let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together. ¹² The smith with the tongs both works in the coals, and fashions it with hammers, and works it with the strength of his arms: Yes, he is hungry, and his strength fails: He drinks no water, and is faint. ¹³ The carpenter stretches out his rule; he marks it out with a line; he fits it with planes, and he marks it out with the compass, and makes it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house. ¹⁴ He hews himself down cedars, and takes the cypress and the oak, which he strengthens for himself among the trees of the forest: He plants an ash, and the rain does nourish it. ¹⁵ Then it shall be for a man to burn: For he will take of it, and warm himself; yes, he kindles it, and bakes bread; yes, he makes a god, and worships it; he makes it a graven image, and falls down to it. ¹⁶ He burns part of it in the fire; with part of it he eats flesh; he roasts roast, and is satisfied: Yes, he warms himself, and said, "Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire: ¹⁷ And the residue of it he makes into a god, even his graven image: He falls down to it, and worships it, and prays to it, and said, "Deliver me; for you are my god." ¹⁸ They have not known nor understood: For He has shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand. ¹⁹ And none considers in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, "I have burned part of it in the fire; yes, also I have baked bread on the coals of it; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: And I shall make the residue of it an abomination? Shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?" ²⁰ He feeds on ashes: A deceived heart has turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, "Is there not a lie in my right hand?"

¹⁶ They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: They who are makers of idols shall go into confusion together.

⁵ To whom will you liken Me, and make Me equal, and compare Me, that we may be alike? ⁶ They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, and hire a goldsmith; and he makes it a god: They fall down, yes, they worship. ⁷ They bear him on the shoulder, they carry him, and set him in his place, and he stands; from his place he shall not move: Yes, one shall cry to him, yet he cannot answer, nor save him out of his trouble. ⁸ Remember this, and show yourselves men: Bring it to mind again, O you transgressors.

³ For the customs of the people are vain: For one cuts a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the ax. ⁴ They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, so that it does not move. ⁵ They are upright like the palm tree, but do not speak: They must be carried, because they cannot go by themselves. Do not be afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither is it in them to do good.

⁸ But they are altogether brutish and foolish: The wooden idol is a doctrine of vanities. ⁹ Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: Blue and purple is their clothing: They are all the work of cunning men.

¹⁴ Every man is brutish in His knowledge: Every founder is confounded by the graven image: For His molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them. ¹⁵ They are vanity, and the work of errors: In the time of their visitation they shall perish. ¹⁶ The portion of Jacob is not like them: For He is the former of all things; and Israel is the rod of His inheritance: The LORD of hosts is His name.

¹⁰ So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed on the wall all around.

²⁹ In as much as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is similar to gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.

²⁶ Moreover, you see and hear that not only at Ephesus, but throughout almost all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away many people, saying that they are not gods, which are made with hands: ²⁷ So that not only is our craft in danger of being disregarded as nothing; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worship." ²⁸ Now when they heard these words, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, "Great is Diana of the Ephesians." ²⁹ Then the whole city was filled with confusion: And having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul's companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theater. ³⁰ And when Paul would have entered in to the people, the disciples did not permit him. ³¹ And certain chiefs of Asia, who were his friends, sent to him, beseeching him that he would not himself venture into the theater. ³² Some therefore cried out one thing, and some another: For the assembly was confused; and for the most part did not know why they had come together. ³³ And they drew Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned with his hand, and would have made his defense to the people. ³⁴ But when they had knowledge that he was a Jew, all with one voice cried out for about a span of two hours, "Great is Diana of the Ephesians." ³⁵ And when the town clerk had appeased the people, he said, "You men of Ephesus, what man is there who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?

²³ and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made in likeness to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.

²⁰ And the rest of the men who were not killed by these plagues yet did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: Which can neither see, nor hear, nor walk:

¹⁴ and deceives those that dwell on the earth by means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to those who dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and lived. ¹⁵ And he had power to give life to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.

⁹ Then the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, "If any man worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, ¹⁰ the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of His indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: ¹¹ And the smoke of their torment ascends up forever and ever: And they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name."

² Then the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and a noxious and grievous sore fell upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon those who worshiped his image.

²⁴ You shall not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do according to their works: But you shall utterly overthrow them, and entirely break down their images.

⁶ And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, "The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, ⁷ keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, to the third and to the fourth generation."

¹⁴ For you shall worship no other god: For the LORD, Whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

⁵ Then I will set my face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go a whoring after him, to commit whoredom with Molech, from among their people.

²⁹ And you shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall you eat.

³⁹ And those that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies' lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them. ⁴⁰ If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary to me;

¹⁸ the LORD is long-suffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation.

³³ And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcasses be wasted in the wilderness.

²⁴ For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.

⁹ You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them: For I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of those that hate Me,

¹⁵ (For the LORD your God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD your God be kindled against you, and destroy you from off the face of the earth.

¹⁰ and repays those that hate him to their face, to destroy them: He will not be slack to him that hates him, he will repay him to his face.

²¹ They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: And I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

⁴¹ If I whet my glittering sword, and my hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to my enemies, and will reward those that hate me.

⁷ that you come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves to them:

¹⁶ When you have transgressed the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and you shall perish quickly from off the good land which he has given to you.

¹⁹ And Joshua said to the people, You cannot serve the LORD: For he is a holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.

¹⁹ And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down to them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.

² Thus says the LORD of hosts, 'I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. ³ Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.' "

¹ Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David inquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.

⁶ let seven men of his sons be delivered to us, and we will hang them up to the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, whom the LORD did choose. And the king said, "I will give them.

²⁹ see you how Ahab humbles himself before me? Because he humbles himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: But in his son's days will I bring the evil on his house.

³⁵ with whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, "You shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:

⁴¹ So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children's children: As did their fathers, so do they to this day.

²⁶ Notwithstanding, the LORD did not turn from the fierceness of His great wrath, with which His anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked Him with.

¹⁴ Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense to them.

⁴ His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.

¹⁹ God lays up his iniquity for his children: He rewards him, and he shall know it.

⁵⁸ For they provoked Him to anger with their high places, and moved Him to jealousy with their graven images.

⁸ O do not recount our former iniquities against us: Let your tender mercies speedily go before us: For we are brought very low.

¹⁵ The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves to Him: Even their season should have endured forever.

¹⁴ Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered by the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.

³⁴ For jealousy is the rage of a man: Therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. ³⁵ He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though you give many gifts.

³⁶ But he that sins against me wrongs his own soul: All those that hate me love death."

²⁰ You shall not be joined with them in burial, because you have destroyed your land, and slain your people: The seed of evildoers shall never be renowned. ²¹ Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.

¹⁵ Then it shall be for a man to burn: For he will take of it, and warm himself; yes, he kindles it, and bakes bread; yes, he makes a god, and worships it; he makes it a graven image, and falls down to it.

¹⁹ And none considers in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, "I have burned part of it in the fire; yes, also I have baked bread on the coals of it; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: And I shall make the residue of it an abomination? Shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?"

⁶ Behold, it is written before Me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, even recompense into their bosom, ⁷ your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together", said the LORD, "who have burned incense upon the mountains, and blasphemed Me on the hills: Therefore I will measure their former work into their bosom."

⁹ Why will I yet plead with you", said the LORD, "and with your children's children I will plead.

¹⁸ You show lovingkindness to thousands, and recompense the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: The Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is His name,

³ And He put forth the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my head; and the Spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looks toward the north; where the seat of the image of jealousy was, which provokes to jealousy.

² And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: Which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.

² God is jealous, and the LORD revenges; the LORD revenges, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on His adversaries, and He reserves wrath for His enemies.

⁹ and said to Him, "I will give You all these things, if You will fall down and worship me."

³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets, wise men, and scribes: And some of them you shall kill and crucify; and some of them you shall scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: ³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom you slew between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Truly I say to you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

⁷ The world cannot hate you; but it hates Me, because I testify of it, that the works of the world are evil.

¹⁸ If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.

²³ He that hates Me hates My Father also. ²⁴ If I had not done among them the works which no other man did, they would not have had sin: But now they have both seen and hated both Me and My Father.

³⁰ backbiters, haters of God, full of spite, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

⁷ Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: For it is not subject to the law of God, indeed neither can be.

²² Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

⁴ You adulterers and adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

³⁷ And because he loved your fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought you out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt;

²⁹ O that there were such a heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all My commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children forever!

⁹ Know therefore that the LORD your God, he is God, the faithful God, which keeps covenant and mercy with those that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

³⁹ And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them, and of their children after them: ⁴⁰ And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from Me.

¹⁵ If you love Me, keep My commandments.

²¹ He that has My commandments, and keeps them, it is he that loves Me: And he that loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him, and will manifest Myself to him."

³⁹ For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call."

²⁸ Concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: But concerning the chosen, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes. ²⁹ For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

¹⁹ We love Him, because He first loved us.

³ For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: And His commandments are not grievous.

⁶ And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.

¹² And you shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shall you profane the name of your God: I am the LORD.

¹¹ and the Israelitish woman's son blasphemed the name of the Lord, and cursed. And they brought him to Moses: (and his mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan): ¹² And they put him in the prison ward, that the mind of the LORD might be showed them. ¹³ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ¹⁴ bring forth him that has cursed outside the camp; and let all that heard him lay their hands on his head, and let all the congregation stone him. ¹⁵ And you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying, "Whoever curses his God shall bear his sin. ¹⁶ And he that blasphemes the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: As well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemes the name of the Lord, shall be put to death.

¹¹ You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain: For the LORD will not hold him guiltless that takes His name in vain.

²⁰ You shall fear the LORD your God; him shall you serve, and to him shall you hold, and swear by his name.

¹² Now therefore, I implore you, swear to me by the LORD, since I have showed you kindness, that you will also show kindness to my father's house, and give me a true token:

¹⁷ And the men said to her, "We will be blameless of this your oath which you have made us swear.

²⁰ This we will do to them; we will even let them live, lest wrath be on us, because of the oath which we swore to them.

⁹ Now therefore hold him not guiltless: For you are a wise man, and know what you ought to do to him; but his hoar head bring you down to the grave with blood.

¹⁴ Offer to God thanksgiving; and pay your vows to the most High: ¹⁵ And call upon Me in the day of trouble: I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me." ¹⁶ But to the wicked God says, "What have you to do with declaring My statutes, or should you take My covenant in your mouth?

⁹ Lest I be full, and deny You, and say, 'Who is the LORD?' Or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.

² And you shall swear, 'The LORD lives', in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in Him, and in Him they shall glory."

³³ Again, you have heard that it has been said by those of old times, 'You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord your oaths': ³⁴ But I say to you, Do not swear at all; neither by heaven, for it is God's throne: ³⁵ Nor by the earth, for it is His footstool: Neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. ³⁶ Neither shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. ³⁷ But let your communication be, 'yes', 'yes'; or 'no', 'no': For whatever is more than these comes from evil.

¹⁶ Woe to you, you blind guides, who say, 'Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obligated!' ¹⁷ You fools and blind: For which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifies the gold? ¹⁸ And, 'Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is upon it, he is bound.' ¹⁹ You fools and blind: For which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift? ²⁰ Therefore whoever shall swear by the altar, swears by it, and by all things upon it. ²¹ And whoever shall swear by the temple, swears by it, and by Him that dwells in it. ²² And he who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God, and by Him that sits upon it.

⁶³ But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said to Him, "I adjure You by the living God, that You tell us whether You are the Christ, the Son of God." ⁶⁴ Jesus said to Him, "You have said it: Nevertheless I say to you all, in time to come you shall see the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven."

²³ Moreover I call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you I have not as yet come to Corinth.

¹⁶ For men truly swear by the greater: And an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. ¹⁷ In which God, more abundantly willing to show the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath:

¹² But above all things, my brethren, do not swear, neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath: But let your "Yes" be "Yes"; and your "No", "No"; lest you fall into condemnation.

³ And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: Because on it He had rested from all His work which God created and made.

²³ And he said to them, "This is that which the LORD has said, 'Tomorrow is the rest of the holy Sabbath to the LORD: Bake that which you will bake today, and boil what you will boil; and that which remains over lay up for yourselves to be kept until the morning.' " ²⁴ And they laid it up until the morning, as Moses directed: And it did not stink, neither was there any worm in it. ²⁵ And Moses said, "Eat that today; for today is a Sabbath to the LORD: Today you shall not find it in the field. ²⁶ Six days you shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the Sabbath, during it there shall be none." ²⁷ And it came to pass, that some of the people went out on the seventh day to gather, and they found none. ²⁸ And the LORD said to Moses, "How long do you refuse to keep My commandments and My laws? ²⁹ See, because the LORD has given you the Sabbath, therefore he gives you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide, every man, in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day." ³⁰ So the people rested on the seventh day.

¹² Six days you shall do your work, and on the seventh day you shall rest: That your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed.

¹³ "Speak also to the children of Israel, saying, 'Truly you shall keep My Sabbaths: For it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations; that you may know that I am the LORD that sanctifies you. ¹⁴ You shall keep the Sabbath therefore; for it is holy to you: Everyone that defiles it shall surely be put to death: For whoever does any work on it, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. ¹⁵ Six days work may be done; but the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. ¹⁶ For which reason the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.

³ You shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep My Sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.

³⁰ You shall keep My Sabbaths, and reverence My sanctuary: I am the LORD.

³ Six days shall work be done: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, a holy convocation; you shall do no work in it: It is the Sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

² You shall keep My Sabbaths, and reverence My sanctuary: I am the LORD.

⁴ For thus says the LORD, "To the eunuchs who keep My Sabbaths, and choose the things that please Me, and take hold of My covenant; ⁵ even to them I will give in My house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. ⁶ Also the sons of the stranger, who join themselves to the LORD, to serve Him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be His servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath from polluting it, and takes hold of My covenant;

²¹ Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest: In ripening time and in harvest you shall rest.

² Six days work shall be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you a holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD: Whoever does work on it shall be put to death.

¹⁴ And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath day, and said to the people, "There are six days in which men ought to work: Therefore come on them and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day."

² And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. ³ And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: Because on it He had rested from all His work which God created and made.

²⁷ And it came to pass, that some of the people went out on the seventh day to gather, and they found none. ²⁸ And the LORD said to Moses, "How long do you refuse to keep My commandments and My laws?

⁹ Also you shall not oppress a stranger: For you know the heart of a stranger, seeing you were strangers in the land of Egypt.heart: In Hebrew, soul ¹⁰ And six years you shall sow your land, and shall gather in its fruits: ¹¹ But the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie still; that the poor of your people may eat: And what they leave the wild beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner you shall deal with your vineyard, and with your olive grove. ¹² Six days you shall do your work, and on the seventh day you shall rest: That your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed.

¹³ "Speak also to the children of Israel, saying, 'Truly you shall keep My Sabbaths: For it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations; that you may know that I am the LORD that sanctifies you.

³² And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks on the Sabbath day. ³³ And those that found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron, and to all the congregation. ³⁴ And they put him in the prison ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him. ³⁵ And the LORD said to Moses, "The man shall surely be put to death: All the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp. ³⁶ And all the congregation brought him outside the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses.

¹⁴ But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God: In it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your domestic beasts, nor your stranger that is within your gates; that your manservant and your maidservant may rest as well as you. ¹⁵ And remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD your God brought you out there through a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm: Therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.

¹¹ And you shall rejoice before the LORD your God, you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite that is within your gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the LORD your God has chosen to place his name there. ¹² And you shall remember that you were a bondman in Egypt: And you shall observe and do these statutes.

¹⁴ You shall not oppress a hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of your brothers, or of your strangers that are in your land within your gates: ¹⁵ At his day you shall give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down on it; for he is poor, and sets his heart on it: Lest he cry against you to the LORD, and it be sin to you. ¹⁶ The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: Every man shall be put to death for his own sin. ¹⁷ You shall not pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow's clothing to pledge: ¹⁸ But you shall remember that you were a bondman in Egypt, and the LORD your God redeemed you there: Therefore I command you to do this thing. ¹⁹ When you cut down your harvest in your field, and have forgot a sheaf in the field, you shall not go again to fetch it: It shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: That the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. ²⁰ When you beat your olive tree, you shall not go over the boughs again: It shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow. ²¹ When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not glean it afterward: It shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow. ²² And you shall remember that you were a bondman in the land of Egypt: Therefore I command you to do this thing.

³¹ And if the people of the land bring ware or any food on the Sabbath day to sell, that we would not buy it of them on the Sabbath, or on the holy day: And that we would leave the seventh year, and the exaction of every debt.

¹⁵ In those days saw I in Judah some treading winepresses on the Sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading donkeys; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day: And I testified against them in the day in which they sold food. ¹⁶ There dwelled men of Tyre also in it, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the Sabbath to the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem. ¹⁷ Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said to them, "What evil thing is this that you do, and profane the Sabbath day? ¹⁸ Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil on us, and on this city? Yet you bring more wrath on Israel by profaning the Sabbath. ¹⁹ And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the Sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the Sabbath: And some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the Sabbath day. ²⁰ So the merchants and sellers of all kind of ware lodged outside Jerusalem once or twice. ²¹ Then I testified against them, and said to them, "Why lodge you about the wall? If you do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the Sabbath.

⁵⁶ Then they returned, and prepared spices and fragrant ointments; and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment.

¹ In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. ² And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

²⁸ And God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: And have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth."

¹⁷ It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day He rested, and was refreshed.' "

⁴ In His hand are the deep places of the earth: The strength of the hills is His also. ⁵ The sea is His, and He made it: And His hands formed the dry land. ⁶ O come, let us worship and bow down: Let us kneel before the LORD our maker. ⁷ For He is our God; and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. Today if you will hear His voice,

²⁷ And He said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath: ²⁸ Therefore the Son of Man is Lord also of the Sabbath."

⁷ And on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached to them; and ready to depart on the next day, continued his speech until midnight.

¹⁵ And he that smites his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.

¹⁷ And he that curses his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.curses; or, reviles

³² You shall rise up before the hoary head, and honor the face of the old man, and fear your God: I am the LORD.

²⁶ I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereto you go over the Jordan to possess it; you shall not prolong your days on it, but shall utterly be destroyed.

⁴⁰ You shall keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command you this day, that it may go well with you, and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days on the earth, which the LORD your God gives you, forever.

¹⁶ Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you; that your days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with you, in the land which the LORD your God gives you.

¹⁵ But you shall have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shall you have: That your days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD your God gives you.

⁴⁷ For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: And through this thing you shall prolong your days in the land, where you go over the Jordan to possess it.

¹⁹ Bathsheba therefore went to king Solomon, to speak to him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself to her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a seat to be set for the king's mother; and she sat on his right hand.

¹² And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and its horsemen. And he saw him no more: And he took hold of his own clothes, and tore them in two pieces.

⁸ My son, hear the instruction of your father, and do not forsake the law of your mother: ⁹ For they shall be an ornament of grace to your head, and necklaces around your neck.

¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honor.

⁵ A fool despises his father's instruction: But he that regards reproof is prudent.

²⁰ Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

²² Hearken to your father that begat you, and do not despise your mother when she is old. ²³ Buy the truth, and do not sell it; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. ²⁴ The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: And he that begets a wise child shall have joy of him. ²⁵ Your father and your mother shall be glad, and she that bore you shall rejoice.

²⁴ Whoever robs his father or his mother, and says, "It is no transgression"; the same is the companion of a destroyer.

¹¹ There is a generation that curses their father, and does not bless their mother.

¹⁷ The eye that mocks at his father, and despises to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

⁶ "A son honors his father, and a servant his master: If then I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is My fear?, says the LORD of hosts to you, O priests, that despise My name. And you all say, 'In what have we despised Your name?'

⁴ For God commanded, saying, 'Honor your father and mother': And, 'He that curses father or mother, let him die the death.' ⁵ But you say, 'Whoever says to his father or his mother, "Whatever you might be profited by me, it is a gift"; ⁶ and does not honor his father or his mother, thinking he shall be exempt.' Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition.

¹⁹ 'Honor your father and your mother': And, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' "

¹⁰ For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother'; and, 'Whoever curses father or mother, let him die the death':

¹⁹ You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery', 'Do not kill', 'Do not steal', 'Do not bear false witness', 'Do not defraud', 'Honor your father and your mother.' "

²¹ submitting yourselves to one another in the fear of God.

¹ Children, obey your parents in the Lord: For this is right. ² "Honor your father and mother"; (which is the first commandment with promise); ³ "that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth."

²⁰ Children, obey your parents in all things: For this is well pleasing to the Lord.

⁸ And Cain talked with Abel his brother: And it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. ⁹ And the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?" And he said, "I do not know: Am I my brother's keeper?" ¹⁰ And He said, "What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries to me from the ground. ¹¹ And now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened her mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand; ¹² when you till the ground, it shall not yield her strength to you from now on; a fugitive and a vagabond you shall be in the earth." ¹³ And Cain said to the LORD, "My punishment is greater than I can bear. ¹⁴ Behold, You have driven me out from the face of the earth this day; and from Your face I shall be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that everyone that finds me shall slay me." ¹⁵ And the LORD said to him, "Therefore whoever slays Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold." And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest anyone finding him should kill him. ¹⁶ And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelled in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. ¹⁷ And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bore Enoch: And he built a city, and called the name of the city after the name of his son, Enoch. ¹⁸ And to Enoch was born Irad: And Irad begat Mehujael: And Mehujael begat Methusael: And Methusael begat Lamech. ¹⁹ And Lamech took to him two wives: The name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah. ²⁰ And Adah bore Jabal: He was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have domestic beasts. ²¹ And his brother's name was Jubal: He was the father of all that handle the harp and organ. ²² And Zillah, she also bore Tubalcain, an instructor of every smith in brass and iron: And the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah. ²³ And Lamech said to his wives, Adah and Zillah, "Hear my voice; you wives of Lamech, hearken to my speech: For I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.

⁵ And surely your blood of your lives I will require; at the hand of every beast I will require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother I will require the life of man. ⁶ Whoever sheds man's blood, by man his blood shall be shed: For He made man in the image of God.

¹⁴ But if a man comes presumptuously upon his neighbor, to slay him with guile; you shall take him from My altar, that he may die.

²⁰ And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he dies under his hand; he shall surely be punished.punished: In Hebrew, avenged

²⁹ But if the ox was known to push with his horn in time past, and it has been testified to his owner, and he has not kept him in, but that he has killed a man or a woman; the ox shall be stoned, and his owner shall also be put to death.

²¹ And he that kills a beast, he shall restore it: And he that kills a man, he shall be put to death.

¹⁶ And if he smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: The murderer shall surely be put to death. ¹⁷ And if he smite him with throwing a stone, with which he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: The murderer shall surely be put to death. ¹⁸ Or if he smite him with a hand weapon of wood, with which he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: The murderer shall surely be put to death. ¹⁹ The revenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: When he meets him, he shall slay him. ²⁰ But if he thrust him of hatred, or hurl at him by laying of wait, that he die; ²¹ or in enmity smite him with his hand, that he die: He that smote him shall surely be put to death; for he is a murderer: The revenger of blood shall slay the murderer, when he meets him. ²² But if he thrust him suddenly without enmity, or have cast on him anything without laying of wait, ²³ or with any stone, with which a man may die, seeing him not, and cast it on him, that he die, and was not his enemy, neither sought his harm: ²⁴ Then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the revenger of blood according to these judgments: ²⁵ And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, where he had fled: And he shall abide in it to the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil. ²⁶ But if the slayer shall at any time come outside the border of the city of his refuge, where he had fled; ²⁷ and the revenger of blood find him outside the borders of the city of his refuge, and the revenger of blood kill the slayer; he shall not be guilty of blood: ²⁸ Because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest: But after the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession. ²⁹ So these things shall be for a statute of judgment to you throughout your generations in all your dwellings. ³⁰ Whoever kills any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: But one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die. ³¹ Moreover you shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: But he shall surely be put to death. ³² And you shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest. ³³ So you shall not pollute the land in which you are: For blood it defiles the land: And the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed in it, but by the blood of him that shed it. ³⁴ Defile not therefore the land which you shall inhabit, in which I dwell: For I the LORD dwell among the children of Israel.

¹⁷ You shall not kill.

¹¹ But if any man hate his neighbor, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and flees into one of these cities: ¹² Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him there, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die. ¹³ Your eye shall not pity him, but you shall put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with you.

⁹ Why have you despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? You have killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and have taken his wife to be your wife, and have slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. ¹⁰ Now therefore the sword shall never depart from your house; because you have despised me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.

¹⁶ Moreover Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; beside his sin with which he made Judah to sin, in doing that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.

²² Thus Joash the king remembered not the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but slew his son. And when he died, he said, "The LORD look on it, and require it.

⁸ He sits in the lurking places of the villages: In the secret places he murders the innocent: His eyes are privately set against the poor. ⁹ He lies in wait secretly as a lion in his den: He lies in wait to catch the poor: He does catch the poor, when he draws him into his net. ¹⁰ He crouches, and humbles himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones. ¹¹ He has said in his heart, "God has forgotten: He hides His face; He will never see it."

¹¹ If they say, "Come with us, let us lay in wait for blood, let us lurk privately for the innocent without cause:

¹⁸ And they lay in wait for their own blood; they lurk privately for their own lives.

²¹ For, behold, the LORD comes out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: The earth also shall disclose her blood, and will no longer cover her slain.

¹⁵ But know for certain, that if you put me to death, you shall surely bring innocent blood on yourselves, and on this city, and on its inhabitants: For truly the LORD has sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears."

²¹ You have heard that it was said by those of old times, 'You shall not kill; and whoever kills shall be in danger of the judgment': ²² But I say to you, That whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: And whoever shall say to his brother, 'You vain fellow' shall be in danger of the council: But whoever says, 'You fool', shall be in danger of hell fire.

¹⁸ He said to Him, "Which ones?" Jesus said, " 'You shall not murder', 'You shall not commit adultery', 'You shall not steal', 'You shall not bear false witness',

⁴ Now when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, "No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped the sea, yet vengeance does not permit him to live."

⁹ For these, "You shall not commit adultery", "You shall not kill", "You shall not steal", "You shall not bear false witness", "You shall not covet"; and if there is any other commandment, it is concisely understood by this saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

²¹ envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, as I have also told you in time past, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

⁹ knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

¹¹ For He that said, "Do not commit adultery", also said, "Do not kill." Now if you do not commit adultery, yet if you kill, you have become a transgressor of the law.

¹³ For he that has shown no mercy shall have judgment without mercy; and mercy rejoices against judgment.

¹² Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And for what reason did he slay him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous. ¹³ Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you. ¹⁴ We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He that does not love his brother abides in death. ¹⁵ Whoever hates his brother is a murderer: And you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

²⁰ Moreover you shall not lie carnally with your neighbor's wife, to defile yourself with her.

¹⁰ And the man that commits adultery with another man's wife, even he that commits adultery with his neighbor's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

¹⁸ Neither shall you commit adultery.

⁴ And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in to him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: And she returned to her house. ⁵ And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, "I am with child.

²⁷ And when the mourning was past, David sent and fetched her to his house, and she became his wife, and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.

¹⁵ whose ways are crooked, and those froward in their paths: ¹⁶ To deliver you from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flatters with her words; ¹⁷ that forsakes the guide of her youth, and forgets the covenant of her God. ¹⁸ For her house inclines to death, and her paths to the dead.

²⁴ To keep you from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. ²⁵ Do not lust after her beauty in your heart; neither let her take you with her eyelids. ²⁶ For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: And the adulteress will hunt for the precious life. ²⁷ Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? ²⁸ Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? ²⁹ So he is that goes in to his neighbor's wife; whoever touches her shall not be innocent. ³⁰ Men do not despise a thief, if he steals to satisfy his soul when he is hungry; ³¹ but if he is found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house. ³² But whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding: He that does it destroys his own soul. ³³ He shall get a wound and dishonor; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.

¹⁸ Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: Let us solace ourselves with loves. ¹⁹ For the goodman is not at home, he has gone on a long journey: ²⁰ He has taken a bag of money with him, and will come home on the day appointed. ²¹ With her very pleasing speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him. ²² He immediately goes after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks; ²³ till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hastens to the snare, and does not know that it is for his life. ²⁴ Therefore hearken to me now, O you children, and attend to the words of my mouth. ²⁵ Do not let your heart decline to her ways, do not go astray in her paths. ²⁶ For she has cast down many wounded: Yes, many strong men have been slain by her. ²⁷ Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.

⁸ They were like fed horses in the morning: Every one neighed after his neighbor's wife. ⁹ Shall I not visit them for these things?" said the LORD: "and shall My soul not be avenged on such a nation as this?

²² and a curse shall be taken up by all the captivity of Judah who are in Babylon concerning them, saying, "The LORD make you like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire"; ²³ because they have committed villainy in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors' wives, and have spoken lying words in My name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness', said the LORD.

⁵ And I will come near to you to decree judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his rights, and do not fear Me", says the LORD of hosts.

²⁷ You have heard that it was said by those of old times, 'You shall not commit adultery': ²⁸ But I say to you that whoever looks upon a woman, to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

¹¹ And He said to them, "Whoever puts away his wife, and marries another, commits adultery against her. ¹² And if a woman puts away her husband, and marries another, she commits adultery."

² For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he lives; but if the husband is dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. ³ So then if, while her husband lives, she is married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress; but if her husband is dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she is married to another man.

³ But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not once be named among you, as befits saints; ⁴ neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: But rather giving of thanks. ⁵ For this you know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

⁴ Marriage is honorable in everyone, and the bed undefiled: But whore-mongers and adulterers God will judge.

⁸ But the fearful, unbelieving, the abominable, murderers, whoremongers, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: Which is the second death."

¹⁶ And he that steals a man, and sells him, or if he is found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.

¹ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ² if a soul sin, and commit a trespass against the LORD, and lie to his neighbor in that which was delivered him to keep, or in fellowship, or in a thing taken away by violence, or has deceived his neighbor; ³ or have found that which was lost, and lies concerning it, and swears falsely; in any of all these that a man does, sinning in it: ⁴ Then it shall be, because he has sinned, and is guilty, that he shall restore that which he took violently away, or the thing which he has deceitfully gotten, or that which was delivered him to keep, or the lost thing which he found, ⁵ or all that about which he has sworn falsely; he shall even restore it in the principal, and shall add the fifth part more thereto, and give it to him to whom it appertains, in the day of his trespass offering. ⁶ And he shall bring his trespass offering to the LORD, a ram without blemish out of the flock, with your estimation, for a trespass offering, to the priest: ⁷ And the priest shall make an atonement for him before the LORD: And it shall be forgiven him for anything of all that he has done in trespassing in it.

¹¹ You shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another.

¹³ You shall not defraud your neighbor, neither rob him: The wages of him that is hired shall not abide with you all night until the morning.

³⁵ You shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in length, in weight, or in measure. ³⁶ Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall you have: I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt. ³⁷ Therefore you shall observe all My statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: I am the LORD.

⁷ If a man be found stealing any of his brothers of the children of Israel, and makes merchandise of him, or sells him; then that thief shall die; and you shall put evil away from among you.

¹³ You shall not have in your bag diverse weights, a great and a small. ¹⁴ You shall not have in your house diverse measures, a great and a small. ¹⁵ But you shall have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shall you have: That your days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD your God gives you. ¹⁶ For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination to the LORD your God.

¹⁹ Because he has oppressed and has forsaken the poor; because he has violently taken away a house which he built not; ²⁰ surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired. ²¹ There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods. ²² In the fullness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: Every hand of the wicked shall come on him.

¹³ We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: ¹⁴ Cast in your lot among us; let us all have one purse": ¹⁵ My son, do not walk in the way with them; refrain your foot from their path:

¹ A false balance is abomination to the LORD: But a just weight is His delight.

¹⁰ For they do not know to do right', says the LORD, 'who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.' "robbery; or, spoil

⁴ Hear this, O you that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail, ⁵ saying, "When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? And the Sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?new moon; or, month ⁶ That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yes, and sell the refuse of the wheat?"

¹⁰ Are there yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is abominable? ¹¹ Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances, and with the bag of deceitful weights?

³ That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asks, and the judge asks for a reward; and the great man, he utters his mischievous desire: So they wrap it up.his mischievous desire: In Hebrew, the mischief of his soul

³ Then he said to me, "This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole earth: For everyone that steals shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and everyone that swears shall be cut off as on that side according to it." ⁴ "I will bring it forth", says the LORD of hosts, "and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that swears falsely by My name: And it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with its timber and its stones."

¹⁹ For out of the heart proceeds evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

¹³ and said to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be called the house of prayer'; But you have made it a 'den of thieves.' "

¹³ And he said to them, "Require no more than that which is appointed to you." ¹⁴ Likewise the soldiers demanded of him, saying, "And what shall we do?" And he said to them, "Do violence to no man, nor accuse anyone falsely; and be content with your wages."

⁶ This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the money bag, and carried what was put in it.

¹⁰ nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

²⁸ Let him that stole steal no more: But rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needs.

⁶ That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: Because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we have also forewarned you and testified.

¹ You shall not raise a false report: Do not put your hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.raise; or, receive

⁶ You shall not wrest the judgment of your poor in his court case. ⁷ Keep yourself far from a false matter; and the innocent and righteous won't slay you: For I will not justify the wicked.

¹⁶ You shall not go up and down as a talebearer among your people: Neither shall you stand against the blood of your neighbor; I am the LORD.

¹⁵ One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sins: At the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established. ¹⁶ If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong; ¹⁷ then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days; ¹⁸ and the judges shall make diligent inquisition: And behold, if the witness be a false witness, and has testified falsely against his brother; ¹⁹ then you shall do to him, as he had thought to have done to his brother: So shall you put the evil away from among you. ²⁰ And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall from now on commit no more any such evil among you. ²¹ And your eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

⁸ that all of you have conspired against me, and there is none that shows me that my son has made a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or discloses to me that my son has stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this time?" ⁹ Then Doeg the Edomite answered, who was set over the servants of Saul, and said, "I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub. ¹⁰ And he inquired of the LORD for him, and gave him food, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine." ¹¹ Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father's house, the priests that were in Nob: And they all came to the king. ¹² And Saul said, "Hear now, you son of Ahitub." And he answered, "Here I am, my lord." ¹³ And Saul said to him, "Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, in that you have given him bread, and a sword, and have inquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this moment?" ¹⁴ Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, "And who is so faithful among all your servants as David, which is the king's son-in-law, and goes at your bidding, and is honorable in your house? ¹⁵ Did I then begin to inquire of God for him? Be it far from me: Let not the king impute anything to his servant, nor to all the house of my father: For your servant knew nothing of all this, less or more." ¹⁶ And the king said, "You shall surely die, Ahimelech, you, and all your father's house." ¹⁷ And the king said to the footmen that stood around him, "Turn, and slay the priests of the LORD: Because their hand is also with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not disclose it to me." But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD. ¹⁸ And the king said to Doeg, "Turn yourself, and fall upon the priests." And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day eighty-five persons that wore a linen ephod. ¹⁹ And he smote Nob, the city of the priests, with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen, and donkeys, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.

¹⁰ And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, "You did blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die. ¹¹ And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who were the inhabitants in his city, did as Jezebel had sent to them, and as it was written in the letters which she had sent to them. ¹² They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people. ¹³ And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: And the men of Belial witnessed against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, "Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.

³ He that does not backbite with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his neighbor.

⁵ Whoever privately slanders his neighbor, him I will cut off: He who has a high look and a proud heart I will not suffer. ⁶ My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: He who walks in a perfect way, he shall serve me. ⁷ He who works deceit shall not dwell within my house: He who tells lies shall not tarry in my sight.

¹⁸ He that hides hatred with lying lips, and he that utters a slander, is a fool.

¹³ A talebearer reveals secrets: But he that is of a faithful spirit conceals the matter.

⁵ A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall not escape.

⁵⁹ Now the chief priests, elders, and all the council sought false witness against Jesus, to put Him to death; ⁶⁰ but found none: Yes, though many false witnesses came, yet they found none. Finally two false witnesses came,

¹³ and set up false witnesses, which said, "This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:

³¹ Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice:

¹⁰ for whoremongers, for those that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

³ without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those who are good,

¹¹ Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He that speaks evil of his brother, and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law, and judges the law: But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge.

⁶ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit, and ate, and also gave to her husband with her; and he ate.

²³ that I will not take anything that is yours, from even a thread to a shoe strap, lest you should say, 'I have made Abram rich':

²³ Shall not their domestic beasts and their substance and every beast of their's be our's? Only let us consent to them, and they will dwell with us.

²¹ When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and behold, they are hid in the earth in the middle of my tent, and the silver under it.

¹⁹ Why then did you not obey the voice of the LORD, but did fly upon the spoil, and did evil in the sight of the LORD?"

² And it came to pass in an evening, that David arose from off his bed, and walked on the roof of the king's house: And from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look on. ³ And David sent and inquired after the woman. And one said, "Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? ⁴ And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in to him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: And she returned to her house.

¹ I made a covenant with my eyes; why then should I think on a maid?

⁹ If my heart have been deceived by a woman, or if I have laid wait at my neighbor's door;

³ For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire, and blesses the covetous, whom the LORD abhors.

³⁶ Incline my heart to Your testimonies, and not to covetousness.

²³ Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

²⁴ To keep you from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. ²⁵ Do not lust after her beauty in your heart; neither let her take you with her eyelids.

⁸ There is one alone, and there is not a second; yes, he has neither child nor brother: Yet there is no end of all his labor; neither is his eye satisfied with riches; neither has he said, "For whom do I labor, and bereave my soul of good?" This also is vanity, yes, it is a sore travail.

¹⁰ He that loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loves abundance with increase: This also is vanity. ¹¹ When goods increase, those that eat them are increased: And what good is there to the owners of them, except the beholding of them with their eyes?

¹⁵ He who walks righteously, and speaks uprightly; he who despises the gain of oppressions, who shakes his hands from holding bribes, who stops his ears from hearing of blood, and shuts his eyes from seeing evil;

¹⁷ For the iniquity of his covetousness I was wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on backsliding in the way of his heart.

⁸ They were like fed horses in the morning: Every one neighed after his neighbor's wife.

¹⁷ But your eyes and your heart are not but for your covetousness, and to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.

³¹ And they come to you according to the coming of the people, and they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words, but they will not do them: For with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their covetousness.

⁶ Thus says the LORD; "For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes; ⁷ that pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: And a man and his father will go in to the same maid, to profane My holy name:

² And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: So they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.oppress; or, defraud

⁹ Woe to him that covets an evil covetousness to establish his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil!

²⁸ But I say to you that whoever looks upon a woman, to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

¹⁵ Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with my own? Is your eye evil because I am good?'

¹⁵ And He said to them, "Take heed, and beware of covetousness: For a man's life does not subsist in the abundance of the things which he possesses."

¹⁴ Moreover the Pharisees, who were covetous, also heard all these things: And they derided Him.

⁴ While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own power? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God."

³³ I have coveted no one's silver, or gold, or apparel.

⁷ What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. No, I had not known sin, but by the law: For I had not known lust, except that the law said, "You shall not covet."

³ But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not once be named among you, as befits saints;

⁵ Therefore mortify your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

⁶ But godliness with contentment is great gain. ⁷ For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. ⁸ And having food and clothing, let us be content with these. ⁹ But those that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. ¹⁰ For the love of money is the root of all evil: Which while coveting after, some have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

⁵ Let your behavior be without covetousness; and be content with such things as you have: For He has said, "I will never leave you, nor forsake you."

¹⁶ And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the sound of the trumpet was exceedingly loud; so that all the people that were in the camp trembled. ¹⁷ And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the lower part of the mount. ¹⁸ And Mount Sinai was altogether raging smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: And its smoke ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

⁷ Where shall I go from Your Spirit? Or to what place shall I flee from Your presence? ⁸ If I ascend up into heaven, You are there: If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.

²³ "Am I a God near at hand", said the LORD, "and not a God afar off?

¹⁸ For you have not come to the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor to blackness, and darkness, and tempest, ¹⁹ and the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice those that heard entreated that the word should not be spoken to them anymore:

³⁰ And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: "For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved."Peniel; that is, The face of God

²⁰ And He said, "You cannot see My face: For there no man shall see Me, and live."

⁵ (I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to show you the word of the LORD: For you were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount); saying,

²³ And it came to pass, when you heard the voice out of the middle of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire), that you came near to me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders; ²⁴ and you said, "Behold, the LORD our God has showed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the middle of the fire: We have seen this day that God does talk with man, and he lives. ²⁵ Now therefore why should we die? For this great fire will consume us: If we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die. ²⁶ For who is there of all flesh, that has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the middle of the fire, as we have, and lived? ²⁷ Go you near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: And speak you to us all that the LORD our God shall speak to you; and we will hear it, and do it.

¹⁶ according to all that you desired of the LORD your God in Horeb on the day of the assembly, saying, "Let me not hear the voice of the LORD my God again, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.

¹⁹ What justice then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, until the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

¹⁹ and the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice those that heard entreated that the word should not be spoken to them anymore:

¹¹ And Abraham said, "Because I thought, surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake.

¹ And it came to pass after these things, that God tempted Abraham, and said to him, "Abraham": And he said, "Behold, here I am."

¹² And he said, "Do not lay your hand upon the lad, neither do anything to him: For now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son from Me."

²⁵ And he cried out to the LORD; and the LORD showed him a tree, which when he casted into the waters, the waters were made sweet: There He made a statute and an ordinance for them, and there He proved them, ²⁶ and said, "If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD your God, and will do that which is right in His sight, and will give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon you, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: For I am the LORD that heals you."

¹⁰ specially the day that you stood before the LORD your God in Horeb, when the LORD said to me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear My words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.

² That you might fear the LORD your God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, you, and your son, and your son's son, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged.

² And you shall remember all the way which the LORD your God led you these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you, and to prove you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments, or no.

¹² And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

³ you shall not listen to the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: For the LORD your God proves you, to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

¹⁴ Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: And put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve you the LORD.

²⁰ And Samuel said to the people, "Fear not: You have done all this wickedness: Yet do not turn aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart;

¹⁵ But the former governors that had been before me were chargeable to the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver; yes, even their servants bore rule over the people: But so did not I, because of the fear of God.

²⁸ And to man he said, "Behold, the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

⁷ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

⁷ Do not be wise in your own eyes: Fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

⁶ By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: And by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

¹³ Sanctify the LORD of hosts Himself; and let Him be your fear, and let Him be your dread.

¹⁰ Fear not; for I am with you: Be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yes, I will help you; yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness.'

¹² Then spoke Solomon, The LORD said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

¹ Then said Solomon, The LORD has said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

⁹ He bowed the heavens also, and came down: And darkness was under His feet.

¹² At the brightness that was before Him, His thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.

² Clouds and darkness are all around Him: Righteousness and judgment are the habitation of His throne.

² Who covers Yourself with light as with a garment: Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain:

¹⁶ who only has immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach; whom no man has seen, nor can see: To whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen.

¹³ You came down also upon Mount Sinai, and spoke with them from heaven, and gave them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments:

²⁵ See that you do not refuse Him that speaks. For if those who refused 'Him that spoke on earth' did not escape, much more we shall not escape, if we turn away from Him that speaks from heaven: ²⁶ Whose voice then shook the earth: But now He has promised, saying, "Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven."

³ You shall have no other gods before Me. ⁴ You shall not make for yourself any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: ⁵ You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them: For I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of those that hate Me;

¹ And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron, and said to him, "Rise up, make us gods, which shall go before us; because, as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him." ² And Aaron said to them, "Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them to me." ³ And all the people broke off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron. ⁴ And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with an engraving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: And they said, "These be your gods, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt."

³¹ And Moses returned to the LORD, and said, "Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made themselves gods of gold.

⁴ And when they arose early on the next morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him. ⁵ Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon's house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod to this day.

³³ They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from there.

³⁹ As for you, O house of Israel", thus says the Lord GOD; "You go, everyone serve his idols, and hereafter also, if you will not listen to Me: But do not pollute My holy name any longer with your gifts, and with your idols.

⁸ In their setting of their threshold by My thresholds, and their post by My posts, and the wall between Me and them, they have even defiled My holy name by their abominations that they have committed: For which reason I have consumed them in My anger.

⁴ They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

²³ but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you, and your lords, your wives, and your concubines, have drunk wine from them; and have praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see, nor hear, nor know: And the God in Whose hand is your breath, and Whose are all your ways, you have not glorified:

⁵ and those that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and those that worship and that swear by the LORD, and that swear by Malcham;

²¹ You cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: You cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils. ²² Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

¹⁴ Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers: For what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion has light with darkness? ¹⁵ And what agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what part has he that believes with an infidel? ¹⁶ And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God; as God has said: "I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."

¹⁸ Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshiping of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, ¹⁹ and not holding the Head, from which all the body has nourishment ministered by joints and ligaments, and is knit together, and increases with the increase of God.

¹⁵ For outside are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whoever loves and fabricates a lie.

² And I will make a great nation of you, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing:

¹ And the LORD called to Moses, and spoke to him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying, ² speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, If any man of you bring an offering to the LORD, you shall bring your offering of the domestic beasts, even of the herd, and of the flock. ³ If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: He shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD. ⁴ And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him. ⁵ And he shall kill the bull before the LORD: And the priests, Aaron's sons, shall bring the blood, and sprinkle the blood all around upon the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. ⁶ And he shall flay the burnt offering, and cut it into his pieces. ⁷ And the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire on the altar, and lay the wood in order on the fire: ⁸ And the priests, Aaron's sons, shall lay the parts, the head, and the fat, in order on the wood that is on the fire which is on the altar: ⁹ But his inwards and his legs shall he wash in water: And the priest shall burn all on the altar, to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet smell to the LORD. ¹⁰ And if his offering be of the flocks, namely, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt sacrifice; he shall bring it a male without blemish. ¹¹ And he shall kill it on the side of the altar northward before the LORD: And the priests, Aaron's sons, shall sprinkle his blood all around upon the altar. ¹² And he shall cut it into his pieces, with his head and his fat: And the priest shall lay them in order on the wood that is on the fire which is on the altar: ¹³ But he shall wash the inwards and the legs with water: And the priest shall bring it all, and burn it on the altar: It is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet smell to the LORD. ¹⁴ And if the burnt sacrifice for his offering to the LORD be of fowls, then he shall bring his offering of turtledoves, or of young pigeons. ¹⁵ And the priest shall bring it to the altar, and wring off his head, and burn it on the altar; and its blood shall be wrung out at the side of the altar: ¹⁶ And he shall pluck away his crop with his feathers, and cast it beside the altar on the east part, by the place of the ashes: ¹⁷ And he shall split it with its wings, but shall not divide it asunder: And the priest shall burn it on the altar, on the wood that is on the fire: It is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet smell to the LORD.

¹ And if his oblation be a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offer it of the herd; whether it be a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the LORD. ² And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: And Aaron's sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood on the altar all around. ³ And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire to the LORD; the fat that covers the inwards, and all the fat that is on the inwards, ⁴ and the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the flanks, and the lobe above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away. ⁵ And Aaron's sons shall burn it on the altar on the burnt sacrifice, which is on the wood that is on the fire: It is an offering made by fire, of a sweet smell to the LORD. ⁶ And if his offering for a sacrifice of peace offering to the LORD be of the flock; male or female, he shall offer it without blemish. ⁷ If he offer a lamb for his offering, then shall he offer it before the LORD. ⁸ And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: And Aaron's sons shall sprinkle its blood all around upon the altar. ⁹ And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire to the LORD; its fat, and the whole rump, it shall he take off hard by the backbone; and the fat that covers the inwards, and all the fat that is on the inwards, ¹⁰ and the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the flanks, and the lobe above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away. ¹¹ And the priest shall burn it on the altar: It is the food of the offering made by fire to the LORD. ¹² And if his offering be a goat, then he shall offer it before the LORD. ¹³ And he shall lay his hand upon the head of it, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: And the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle its blood on the altar all around. ¹⁴ And he shall offer of it his offering, even an offering made by fire to the LORD; the fat that covers the inwards, and all the fat that is on the inwards, ¹⁵ and the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the flanks, and the lobe above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away. ¹⁶ And the priest shall burn them on the altar: It is the food of the offering made by fire for a sweet smell: All the fat is the LORD's. ¹⁷ It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that you eat neither fat nor blood.

²⁴ the LORD bless you, and keep you: ²⁵ The LORD make his face shine on you, and be gracious to you: ²⁶ The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace." ' ²⁷ And they shall put my name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.

¹³ And he will love you, and bless you, and multiply you: He will also bless the fruit of your womb, and the fruit of your land, your grain, and your wine, and your oil, the increase of your cows, and the flocks of your sheep, in the land which He swore to your fathers to give you.

⁵ But to the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even to his habitation shall you seek, and thither you shall come:

¹¹ then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall you bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which you vow to the LORD:

²¹ If the place which the LORD your God has chosen to put his name there be too far from you, then you shall kill of your herd and of your flock, which the LORD has given you, as I have commanded you, and you shall eat in your gates whatever your soul lusts after.

²³ And you shall eat before the LORD your God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of your grain, of your wine, and of your oil, and the firstborn of your herds and of your flocks; that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always.

⁵ You may not sacrifice the Passover within any of your gates, which the LORD your God gives you: ⁶ But at the place which the LORD your God shall choose to place his name in, there you shall sacrifice the Passover at sunset, at the going down of the sun, at the season that you came forth out of Egypt.

¹¹ And you shall rejoice before the LORD your God, you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite that is within your gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the LORD your God has chosen to place his name there.

² that you shall take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which you shall bring of your land that the LORD your God gives you, and shall put it in a basket, and shall go to the place which the LORD your God shall choose to place his name there.

¹² And it was told king David, saying, "The LORD has blessed the house of Obededom, and all that pertains to him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness.

²⁹ That your eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which you have said, "My name shall be there: That you may listen to the prayer which your servant shall make toward this place.

⁴³ hear you in heaven your dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calls to you for: That all people of the earth may know your name, to fear you, as do your people Israel; and that they may know that this house, which I have built, is called by your name.

³ And the LORD said to him, "I have heard your prayer and your supplication, that you have made before me: I have hallowed this house, which you have built, to put my name there forever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

⁶ But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

¹⁶ For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there forever: And my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

¹³ So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: For Rehoboam was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess.

¹² And the God that has caused his name to dwell there destroy all kings and people, that shall put to their hand to alter and to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done with speed.

⁹ But if you turn to me, and keep My commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out to the uttermost part of the heaven, yet I will gather them from there, and will bring them to the place that I have chosen to set my name there.

⁷ They have cast fire into Your sanctuary, they have defiled by casting down the dwelling place of Your name to the ground.

² His tabernacle is also in Salem, and his dwelling place in Zion.

⁶⁸ But chose the tribe of Judah, the Mount Zion which He loved.

⁵ The LORD shall bless you out of Zion: And you shall see the good of Jerusalem all the days of your life.

¹³ For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His habitation. ¹⁴ "This is My rest forever: Here I will dwell; for I have desired it.

³ The LORD that made heaven and earth bless you out of Zion.

¹⁰ and come and stand before Me in this house, which is called by My name, and say, 'We are delivered to do all these abominations?' ¹¹ Has this house, which is called by My name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it", said the LORD. ¹² "But all of you go now to My place which was in Shiloh, where I set My name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of My people Israel.

¹¹ For from the rising of the sun even to the going down of the same, My name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered to My name, and a pure offering: For My name shall be great among the heathen", says the LORD of hosts.

²⁰ For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there I am in the midst of them."

²⁰ Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you: And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world." Amen.

²⁰ Our fathers worshiped upon this mountain; and you all say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship." ²¹ Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you shall neither upon this mountain, nor even at Jerusalem, worship the Father. ²² You worship what you do not know: We know what we worship: For salvation is of the Jews. ²³ But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: For the Father is seeking such to worship Him. ²⁴ God is a Spirit: And those that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth."

⁸ It is my will therefore that men everywhere pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

⁵ And there you shall build an altar to the LORD your God, an altar of stones: You shall not lift up any iron tool on them. ⁶ You shall build the altar of the LORD your God of whole stones: And you shall offer burnt offerings on it to the LORD your God:

³¹ as Moses the servant of the LORD commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses, an altar of whole stones, over which no man has lift up any iron: And they offered on it burnt offerings to the LORD, and sacrificed peace offerings.

³ Then Moses said to Aaron, "This is it that the LORD spoke, saying, "I will be sanctified in them that come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.

⁷ God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be held in reverence by all those that are around Him.

¹ Keep your foot when you go to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: For they do not consider that they do evil.

²⁸ Therefore, we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: ²⁹ For our God is a consuming fire.

¹⁶ because it is written, "Be holy; for I am holy."
