^{1 (2:1)} AND Jesus being born in Bethlehem in Judea, in the days of Herod the king, behold Magi came from the East to Jerusalem, saying,

²⁵ and knew her not till she bore a son, and he called his name Jesus.

³ And Herod the king hearing this was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him;

⁵ And they said to him, In Bethlehem of Judea; for thus it is written by the prophet;

^{19 (2:5)} And when Herod had died, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, in Egypt, saying,

^{5 (1:2)} In the days of Herod the king of Judea, there was a certain priest by the name of Zachariah, of the class of Abijah; and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.

¹¹ For to you was born to-day in the city of David, a Saviour who is the anointed Lord.

^{15 (3:3)} And when the angels had departed from them to heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us go now to Bethlehem, and see this thing which has occurred, which the Lord has made known to us.

⁴² Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the offspring of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?
