Luke 20:9 Cross References - Sawyer

9 (26:2) And he spoke to the people this parable; A man planted a vineyard, and let it out to husbandmen, and went abroad for a long time.

Matthew 21:33-46

33 (19:3) Hear another parable: There was a man, a householder, who planted a vineyard, and made a hedge around it, and dug a wine vat in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went abroad. 34 And when the time of the fruits approached he sent his servants to the husbandmen to receive his fruits. 35 And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. 36 Again he sent other servants more than the first; and they treated them in the same manner. 37 And afterwards he sent them his son, saying, They will reverence my son. 38 But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him and take his inheritance. 39 And they took him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. 40 When, therefore, the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those husbandmen? 41 They said to him, He will inflict on those men a miserable death, and let out his vineyard to other husbandmen, who will render him the fruits in their seasons. 42 (19:4) Jesus said to them, Have you never read in the Scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same has become the head of a corner? this is from the Lord, and is wonderful in our eyes? 43 I tell you, therefore, that the kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation yielding its fruits. 44 (Added verse not retained in Sawyer) 45 (19:5) And the chief priests and Pharisees hearing his parables, knew that he spoke of them; 46 and they sought to take him, but feared the people, because they regarded him as a prophet.

Matthew 25:14

14 (22:11) For, as a man going abroad called his servants, and delivered to them his estates;

Mark 12:1-12

1 (11:7) And he said to them, in parables, A man planted a vineyard and made a hedge about it, and dug a wine-vat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went abroad. 2 And he sent a servant to the husbandmen at the time to receive from the husbandmen of the fruits of the vineyard; 3 and they took him, and beat him, and sent him away empty. 4 And again he sent another servant to them, and they wounded him on the head, and treated him shamefully. 5 And he sent another, and they killed him; and many others, and they beat some, and killed some. 6 Having yet one beloved son, he sent him last to them, saying, They will reverence my son. 7 (11:8) But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours. 8 And seizing him, they killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard. 9 What will the lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy those husbandmen, and let the vineyard to others. 10 Have you not read this Scripture, The stone which the builders rejected, has become the head of a corner; 11 this is from the Lord, and it is wonderful in our eyes? 12 And they sought to take him, and feared the multitude, for they knew that he spoke this parable against them. And they left him, and went away.

Luke 19:12

12 He said, therefore, A certain nobleman went into a distant country to receive a kingdom for himself, and to return.

John 15:1-8

1 (17:1) I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2 Every branch in me that bears not fruit he takes away; and every branch that bears fruit he trims, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are now pure, by means of the word which I have spoken to you; 4 continue in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it continues in the vine, so you cannot, unless you continue in me. 5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He that continues in me and I in him, this man bears much fruit; for separated from me, you can do nothing. 6 If any one continues not in me he is cast without as a branch, and is withered; and they collect them and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you continue in me, and my words continue in you, you shall ask whatever you will, and it shall be [given] you. 8 By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and be my disciples.

1 Corinthians 3:6-9

6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God caused [the seed] to grow; 7 so neither is he that plants any thing, nor he that waters, but God that causes it to grow. 8 He that plants and he that waters are one; and each shall receive his reward according to his labor. 9 For we are God's co-laborers; you are God's field, God's building.
