¹⁹ Know you not that your bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit in you which you have from God, and you are not your own?

^{24 (4:3)} Know you not that those who run in the race all indeed run, but one takes the prize. So run that you may obtain.

²⁷ but I brow-beat my body, and bring it into subjection, lest having preached to others I should myself be a reprobate.

²⁸ But let a man prove himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup;

³¹ For if we judged ourselves we should not be judged;

¹⁶ and what agreement has a temple of God with idols? For you are a temple of the living God; as God said, I will dwell in them, and I will walk in them, and I will be to them a God and they shall be to me a people.

⁶ But I hope you will know that we are not reprobates. ⁷ We wish to God that you may do no evil, not that we may appear approved, but that you may do good though we should be as reprobates.

²⁰ I am crucified with Christ; and I no longer live myself, but Christ lives in me; and the present life which I live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

¹⁹ My little children, with whom I am again in pain till Christ is formed in you,

⁴ But let each one prove his work, and then shall he have joy in himself alone and not in another,

²⁰ being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner-stone, ²¹ by which all the building being fitted together grows into a holy temple in the Lord, ²² in which you also are built up together for a spiritual habitation of God.

¹⁷ that Christ may dwell in your hearts through the faith, you being founded and established in love,

²³ if indeed you continue founded and established in the faith, and not moved from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached in all the creation under heaven; of which I, Paul, was made a minister.

²⁷ to whom God was pleased to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the nations, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory,

⁷ founded and built up in him, and established in the faith as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

¹⁹ and not holding the head, from which all the body being supplied and compacted by means of joints and tendons grows with an increase of God.

¹⁵ but she shall be saved through child-bearing, if they continue in faith, and love, and holiness, with sobriety.

⁸ As Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these oppose the truth, men of no judgment, reprobate in respect to the faith.

¹³ This testimony is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,

¹⁶ They profess to know God, but by works deny him, being abominable and disobedient, and as to every good work reprobate.

² That the aged men be sober, grave, of sound mind, sound in faith, in love, in patience;

⁸ but that which produces thorns and thistles is disapproved, and is nigh to a curse, the end of which is to be burned.

¹⁵ taking care that no one may come short of the grace of God, that no root of bitterness springing up may make trouble and by it many be defiled,

⁴ Adulteresses, know you not that the friendship of the world is enmity against God? Whoever therefore wishes to be a friend of the world, is made an enemy of God.

⁴ To whom coming, a living stone, rejected indeed by men but approved by God, elect, precious, ⁵ do you also yourselves be built up living stones, a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices well pleasing to God through Jesus Christ,

⁹ whom resist, firm in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished by your brothers in the world.

²⁰ for if our minds condemn us, God is greater than our minds and knows all things. ^{21 (1:14)} Beloved, if our minds do not condemn us, we have boldness before God,

⁵ Remember therefore whence you have fallen, and change your minds, and do the first works, otherwise I will come to you and remove your candlestick from its place, unless you change your minds.

² Be watchful, confirm the rest who are about to die. For I have not found your works perfect before my God. ³ Remember therefore how you have received and heard, and watch, and change your minds. If therefore you do not watch, I will come as a thief, and you shall not know at what hour I will come upon you.
