¹ And it came to pass, in the days of Ahasuerus,––the same, Ahasuerus that reigned from India even unto Ethiopia, a hundred and twenty–seven provinces:

⁶ And, in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they an accusation, against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.

⁹ Then were called the king’s scribes at that time––in the third month, the same, is the month Siwan, on the twenty–third thereof, and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and unto the satraps and pashas and rulers of the provinces, which are from India even unto Ethiopia, a hundred and twenty–seven provinces, every province according to the writing thereof, and every people according to their tongue,––and unto the Jews, according to their writing, and according to their tongue;

³⁰ and he sent letters unto all the Jews, throughout the hundred and twenty–seven provinces of the kingdom of Ahasuerus,––words of peace and stability:

¹ Ho! thou land of the buzzing of wings,––Which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia:

⁹ And he heard it reported concerning Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, saying, He hath come forth to fight with thee,––so, when he heard it, he sent messengers unto Hezekiah, saying:

¹ It was pleasing before Darius, that he should set up over the kingdom, a hundred and twenty satraps,––that they should be over all the kingdom;

¹ In the first year of Darius son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes,––who was made king over the kingdom of the Chaldeans:
