¹³ And bring us not into trial, But save us from evil.'

¹⁹ When any one hears the message of the kingdom and does not understand it, the Evil One comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the man who receives seed by the roadside.

³⁸ The field is the world. The good seeds are the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the Evil One.

¹⁹ For from the heart proceed wicked thoughts, murders, adulteries, unchastities, thefts, perjuries, profane words.

²⁵ Therefore put aside lying and speak truth every one to his neighbor, for we are members one of another.

⁹ Do not lie to one another. You have stripped off the old self with his practices

⁶ Let what you say be always with grace, seasoned with salt. Know how you should answer each one.

³ But the Lord is faithful and he will strengthen you and guard you from evil.

¹² Above all things, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by the earth or by any other oath. Let your yes be yes and your no be no, that you may not fall under condemnation.

¹³ I am writing to you, fathers, because you have come to know him who has been from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have conquered the Evil One. I have written to you, little children, because you have come to know the Father.

¹² Not like Cain, who was of the Wicked One and killed his brother. And for what reason did he kill him? Because his own deeds were wicked and his brother's righteous.

¹⁸ We know that every one who has been born of God lives without sinning, but he who was born of God keeps him, and the Evil One does not lay hold of him.
