⁴ While they were at a loss about this, suddenly two men in glittering robes stood beside them.

² And suddenly there was a great earthquake. For an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came to the stone and rolled it away and sat upon it. ³ His appearance was like lightning and his raiment white as snow. ⁴ For fear of him the guards trembled violently and became like dead men. ⁵ The angel said to the women, "Do not you be afraid. For I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. ⁶ He is not here. He has been raised, as he told you. Come see the place where he lay.

⁵ Entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side dressed in a white robe, and they were frightened.

¹¹ Mary was standing by the tomb outside weeping. As she wept she stooped and looked into the tomb ¹² and saw two angels in white sitting one at the head and one at the feet where the body of Jesus had lain.
