³² a light to the uncovering of nations, and the glory of Your people Israel.'

⁴ In him was life, and the life was the light of men,

⁸ that one was not the Light, but -- that he might testify about the Light.

¹⁴ And the Word became flesh, and did tabernacle among us, and we beheld his glory, glory as of an only begotten of a father, full of grace and truth.

¹² Again, therefore, Jesus spake to them, saying, 'I am the light of the world; he who is following me shall not walk in the darkness, but he shall have the light of the life.'

⁴ it behooves me to be working the works of Him who sent me while it is day; night does come, when no one is able to work: --

³⁵ Jesus, therefore, said to them, 'Yet a little time is the light with you; walk while you have the light, that darkness may not overtake you; and he who is walking in the darkness has not known where he goes; ³⁶ while you have the light, believe in the light, that sons of light you may become.' These things spake Jesus, and having gone away, he was hid from them,

⁴⁰ 'He has blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they might not see with the eyes, and understand with the heart, and turn back, and I might heal them;'

² every branch in me not bearing fruit, He does take it away, and every one bearing fruit, He does cleanse by pruning it, that it may bear more fruit; ³ already you are clean, because of the word that I have spoken to you; ⁴ remain in me, and I in you, as the branch is not able to bear fruit of itself, if it may not remain in the vine, so neither you, if you may not remain in me. ⁵ 'I am the vine, you the branches; he who is remaining in me, and I in him, this one does bear much fruit, because apart from me you are not able to do anything;

²⁶ 'Men, brethren, sons of the race of Abraham, and those among you fearing God, to you was the word of this salvation sent,

⁴⁷ for so has the Lord commanded us: I have set you for a light of nations -- for your being for salvation unto the end of the earth.'

¹⁸ to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light, and from the authority of the Adversary unto God, for their receiving forgiveness of sins, and a lot among those having been sanctified, by faith that is toward me.

³ We ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, as it is proper, because increase greatly does your faith, and abound does the love of each one of you all, to one another;

¹⁹ And we have more firm the prophetic word, to which we do well giving heed, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, till day may dawn, and a morning star may arise -- in your hearts;

¹⁸ and increase you in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; to him is the glory both now, and to the day of the age! Amen.

⁸ again, a new command I write to you, which thing is true in him and in you, because the darkness does pass away, and the true light does now shine;

²⁸ and I will give to him the morning star.

And Jesus said, 'You shall not kill, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not bear false witness, ¹⁹ honour your father and mother, and, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.' ²⁰ The young man said to him, 'All these did I keep from my youth; what yet do I lack?' ²¹ Jesus said to him, 'If you do will to be perfect, go away, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven, and come, follow me.' ²² And the young man, having heard the word, went away sorrowful, for he had many possessions.

³⁶ 'Teacher, which is the great command in the Law?' ³⁷ And Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your understanding -- ³⁸ this is a first and great command; ³⁹ and the second is like to it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself; ⁴⁰ on these -- the two commands -- all the law and the prophets do hang.'

²⁸ And one of the scribes having come near, having heard them disputing, knowing that he answered them well, questioned him, 'Which is the first command of all?' ²⁹ and Jesus answered him -- 'The first of all the commands is, Hear, O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is one; ³⁰ and you shall love the Lord your God out of all your heart, and out of your soul, and out of all your understanding, and out of all your strength -- this is the first command; ³¹ and the second is like it, this, You shall love your neighbor as yourself; -- greater than these there is no other command.' ³² And the scribe said to him, 'Well, Teacher, in truth you have spoken that there is one God, and there is none other but He; ³³ and to love Him out of all the heart, and out of all the understanding, and out of all the soul, and out of all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as one's self, is more than all the whole burnt-offerings and the sacrifices.' ³⁴ And Jesus, having seen him that he answered with understanding, said to him, 'You are not far from the reign of God;' and no one any more did question him.

²⁵ And lo, a certain lawyer stood up, trying him, and saying, 'Teacher, what having done, life age-during shall I inherit?' ²⁶ And he said unto him, 'In the law what has been written? how do you read?' ²⁷ And he answering said, 'You shall love the Lord your God out of all your heart, and out of all your soul, and out of all your strength, and out of all your understanding, and your neighbour as yourself.' ²⁸ And he said to him, 'Rightly you did answer; this do, and you shall live.'

²⁹ 'Abraham said to him, They have Moses and the prophets, let them hear them; ³⁰ and he said, No, father Abraham, but if any one from the dead may go unto them, they will reform. ³¹ And he said to him, If Moses and the prophets they do not hear, neither if one may rise out of the dead will they be persuaded.'

³⁹ 'You search the Writings, because you think in them to have life age-during, and these are they that are testifying concerning me; ⁴⁰ and you do not will to come unto me, that you may have life; ⁴¹ glory from man I do not receive, ⁴² but I have known you, that the love of God you have not in yourselves. ⁴³ 'I have come in the name of my Father, and you do not receive me; if another may come in his own name, him you will receive; ⁴⁴ how are you able -- you -- to believe, glory from one another receiving, and the glory that is from God alone you seek not? ⁴⁵ 'Do not think that I will accuse you unto the Father; there is who is accusing you, Moses -- in whom you have hoped; ⁴⁶ for if you were believing Moses, you would have been believing me, for he wrote concerning me; ⁴⁷ but if his writings you believe not, how shall you believe my sayings?'

³¹ Law then do we make useless through the faith? let it not be! yea, we do establish law.

¹ Let every soul to the higher authorities be subject, for there is no authority except from God, and the authorities existing are appointed by God, ² so that he who is setting himself against the authority, against God's ordinance has resisted; and those resisting, to themselves shall receive judgment. ³ For those ruling are not a terror to the good works, but to the evil; and do you wish not to be afraid of the authority? that which is good be doing, and you shall have praise from it, ⁴ for of God it is a ministrant to you for good; and if that which is evil you may do, be fearing, for not in vain does it bear the sword; for of God it is a ministrant, an avenger for wrath to him who is doing that which is evil. ⁵ Therefore it is necessary to be subject, not only because of the wrath, but also because of the conscience, ⁶ for because of this also pay you tribute; for servants of God they are, on this very thing attending continually; ⁷ render, therefore, to all their dues; to whom tribute, the tribute; to whom custom, the custom; to whom fear, the fear; to whom honour, the honour. ⁸ To no one owe anything, except to love one another; for he who is loving the other -- law he has fulfilled, ⁹ for, 'You shall not commit adultery, You shall do no murder, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false testimony, You shall not covet;' and if there is any other command, in this word it is summed up, in this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself;' ¹⁰ the love to the neighbor does work no ill; the love, therefore, is the fulness of law.

¹³ For you -- to freedom you were called, brethren, only not the freedom for an occasion to the flesh, but through the love serve you one another, ¹⁴ for all the law in one word is fulfilled -- in this: 'You shalt love thy neighbor as thyself;'

²⁴ and those who are Christ's, the flesh did crucify with the affections, and the desires; ²⁵ if we may live in the Spirit, in the Spirit also we may walk;

⁹ and if you accept persons, sin you do work, being convicted by the law as transgressors; ¹⁰ for whoever the whole law shall keep, and shall stumble in one point, he has become guilty of all; ¹¹ for He who is saying, 'You may not commit adultery,' said also, 'You may do no murder;' and if you shall not commit adultery, and shall commit murder, you have become a transgressor of law; ¹² so speak you and so do, as about by a law of liberty to be judged, ¹³ for the judgment without kindness is to him not having done kindness, and exult does kindness over judgment.

¹³ for all the prophets and the law till John did prophesy, ¹⁴ and if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who was about to come;

¹⁰ And his disciples questioned him, saying, 'Why then do the scribes say that Elijah it behooves to come first?' ¹¹ And Jesus answering said to them, 'Elijah does indeed come first, and shall restore all things, ¹² and I say to you -- Elijah did already come, and they did not know him, but did with him whatever they would, so also the Son of Man is about to suffer by them.' ¹³ Then understood the disciples that concerning John the Baptist he spoke to them.

⁴⁷ And certain of those standing there having heard, said -- 'Elijah he does call;' ⁴⁸ and immediately, one of them having run, and having taken a spunge, having filled it with vinegar, and having put it on a reed, was giving him to drink, ⁴⁹ but the rest said, 'Let alone, let us see if Elijah does come -- about to save him.'

¹¹ And they were questioning him, saying, that the scribes say that Elijah it is necessary to come first. ¹² And he answering said to them, 'Elijah indeed, having come first, does restore all things; and how has it been written concerning the Son of Man, that many things he may suffer, and be set at nought? ¹³ But I say to you, That also Elijah has come, and they did to him what they willed, as it has been written of him.'

¹⁷ and he shall go before Him, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn hearts of fathers unto children, and disobedient ones to the wisdom of righteous ones, to make ready for the Lord, a people prepared.'

²⁶ 'But what have you gone forth to see? a prophet? Yes, I say to you, and much more than a prophet: ²⁷ this is he concerning whom it has been written, Lo, I send my messenger before your face, who shall prepare your way before you; ²⁸ for I say to you, a greater prophet, among those born of women, than John the Baptist there is not; but the least in the reign of God is greater than he.'

³⁰ And lo, two men were speaking together with him, who were Moses and Elijah,

²¹ And they questioned him, 'What then? Elijah are you?' and he said, 'I am not.' -- 'The prophet are you?' and he answered, 'No.'

²⁵ and they questioned him and said to him, 'Why, then, do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?'

¹⁹ and I will give wonders in the heaven above, and signs upon the earth beneath -- blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke, ²⁰ the sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the coming of the day of the Lord -- the great and illustrious;

¹⁷ because come did the great day of His anger, and who is able to stand?

⁷ 'And the king having heard, was enraged, and having sent forth his soldiers, he destroyed those murderers, and their city he set on fire;

³⁵ that on you may come all the righteous blood being poured out on the earth from the blood of Abel the righteous, unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar: ³⁶ verily I say to you, all these things shall come upon this generation. ³⁷ 'Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that is killing the prophets, and stoning those sent unto you, how often did I will to gather your children together, as a hen does gather her own chickens under the wings, and you did not will. ³⁸ Lo, left desolate to you is your house;

²¹ and Peter having remembered said to him, 'Rabbi, lo, the fig-tree that you did curse is dried up.'

¹⁴ 'And when you may see the abomination of the desolation, that was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (whoever is reading let him understand), then those in Judea, let them flee to the mountains; ¹⁵ and he upon the house-top, let him not come down to the house, nor come in to take anything out of his house; ¹⁶ and he who is in the field, let him not turn to the things behind, to take up his garment. ¹⁷ 'And woo to those with child, and to those giving suck, in those days; ¹⁸ and pray you that your flight may not be in winter, ¹⁹ for those days shall be tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the creation that God created, till now, and may not be; ²⁰ and if the Lord did not shorten the days, no flesh had been saved; but because of the chosen, whom He did choose to Himself, He did shorten the days. ²¹ 'And then, if any may say to you, Lo, here is the Christ, or, Lo, there, you may not believe; ²² for there shall rise false Christs and false prophets, and they shall give signs and wonders, to seduce, if possible, also the chosen; ²³ and you, take heed; lo, I have foretold you all things. ²⁴ 'But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, ²⁵ and the stars of the heaven shall be falling, and the powers that are in the heavens shall be shaken. ²⁶ 'And then they shall see the Son of Man coming in clouds with much power and glory,

¹⁶ and many of the sons of Israel he shall turn to the Lord their God, ¹⁷ and he shall go before Him, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn hearts of fathers unto children, and disobedient ones to the wisdom of righteous ones, to make ready for the Lord, a people prepared.'

⁷⁶ And you, child, Prophet of the Highest Shall you be called; For you shall go before the face of the Lord, To prepare His ways.

⁴¹ And when he came near, having seen the city, he wept over it, ⁴² saying -- 'If you did know, even you, at least in this your day, the things for your peace; but now they were hid from your eyes. ⁴³ 'Because days shall come upon you, and your enemies shall cast around you a rampart, and compass you round, and press you on every side, ⁴⁴ and lay you low, and your children within you, and they shall not leave in you a stone upon a stone, because you did not know the time of your inspection.'

²² because these are days of vengeance, to fulfil all things that have been written. ²³ 'And woo to those with child, and to those giving suck, in those days; for there shall be great distress on the land, and wrath on this people; ²⁴ and they shall fall by the mouth of the sword, and shall be led captive to all the nations, and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by nations, till the times of nations be fulfilled. ²⁵ 'And there shall be signs in sun, and moon, and stars, and on the land is distress of nations with perplexity, sea and billow roaring; ²⁶ men fainting at heart from fear, and expectation of the things coming on the world, for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. ²⁷ 'And then they shall see the Son of Man, coming in a cloud, with power and much glory;

⁸ and that which is bearing thorns and briers is disapproved of, and near to cursing, whose end is for burning;

²⁶ For we -- willfully sinning after the receiving the full knowledge of the truth -- no more for sins does there remain a sacrifice, ²⁷ but a certain fearful looking for of judgment, and fiery zeal, about to devour the opposers; ²⁸ any one who did set at nought a law of Moses, apart from mercies, by two or three witnesses, does die, ²⁹ of how much sorer punishment shall he be counted worthy who the Son of God did trample on, and the blood of the covenant did count a common thing, in which he was sanctified, and to the Spirit of the grace did despite? ³⁰ for we have known Him who is saying, 'Vengeance is Mine, I will recompense, says the Lord;' and again, 'The Lord shall judge His people;' -- ³¹ fearful is the falling into the hands of a living God.

¹⁵ and out of his mouth does proceed a sharp sword, that with it he may smite the nations, and he shall rule them with a rod of iron, and he does tread the press of the wine of the wrath and the anger of God the Almighty,

³ and any curse there shall not be any more, and the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him,

²⁰ he says -- who is testifying these things -- 'Yes, I come quickly!' Amen! Yes, be coming, Lord Jesus! ²¹ The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ is with you all. Amen.
