¹² Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, but not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.

² By no means. How shall we, who are dead to sin, live in it any longer? ³ Do you not know, that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? ⁴ Therefore, we were buried with him by baptism into death: so that as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also might walk in newness of life. ⁵ For if we have been united with him by sharing a death like his, so shall we also share a resurrection like his: ⁶ Knowing this, that our old man has been crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should no longer be enslaved by sin. ⁷ For he who has died is freed from sin. ⁸ Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: ⁹ Knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, will never die again: death no longer has power over him. ¹⁰ For in his death, he died to sin once for all: but in his life, he lives to God. ¹¹ In the same way, consider yourselves also to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. ¹² Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal bodies, to make you obey its lusts. ¹³ Do not yield your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness: but yield yourselves to God, as those who are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. ¹⁴ For sin shall not be your master: for you are not under the law, but under grace. ¹⁵ What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? By no means.

¹⁹ Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God, and that you are not your own? ²⁰ For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.

² That he may live the rest of his time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. ³ For the time past was sufficient for doing the things the Gentiles desire to do: living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, revelling, carousing, and abominable idolatries.
