⁷ Remember those who lead you, who have spoken to you the word of God: consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.

⁴⁵ Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season?

¹¹ Now the meaning of the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

⁴² And the Lord said, Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his servants, to give them their portion of food at the proper time?

³¹ And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

⁵⁵ But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, ⁵⁶ And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. ⁵⁷ Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, ⁵⁸ And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul. ⁵⁹ And as they stoned Stephen he called upon God, saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. ⁶⁰ And he knelt down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, do not hold this sin against them. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should have first been spoken to you: but seeing that you thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

²³ And when they had appointed elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they committed them to the Lord, in whom they believed.

¹⁷ So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

¹⁶ Therefore I urge you, be imitators of me.

¹³ No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able to endure; but with the temptation will also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.

¹ Be imitators of me, just as I am of Christ.

¹⁷ Brethren, join together in following me, and note those who walk according to our example.

⁶ And you became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word despite much affliction, with joy from the Holy Spirit:

¹³ For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because, when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which performs its work in you who believe.

¹² And we urge you, brethren, to respect those who labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; ¹³ And esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

⁷ For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us: for we were not idle among you;

⁹ Not because we do not have the right, but to make ourselves an example for you to follow.

⁵ (For if a man does not know how to manage his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

¹² That you may not grow slothful, but be followers of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

¹⁷ Obey those who lead you, and submit to them: for they watch over your souls as those who must give account. Let it be a joyful task for them, not a sad one: for that would be unprofitable for you.

²⁴ Greet all those who lead you, and all the saints. Those in Italy greet you.

⁹ I, John, your brother and companion in the tribulation, and kingdom, and endurance which are ours in Jesus, was on the island that is called Patmos, because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

⁹ And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they maintained:

⁴ And I saw thrones, on which were seated those to whom judgment had been given: and I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness for Jesus, and for the word of God, and who had not worshipped the beast, nor his image, nor had they received his mark upon their foreheads, or on their hands; and they lived again and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
