¹⁰ But you have fully known my teaching, manner of life, purpose, faith, patience, love, steadfastness,

³ It seemed good to me also, having carefully investigated all these things from the very beginning, to write to you an orderly account, most excellent Theophilus,

⁴² And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' teaching and fellowship, and in the breaking of bread, and in prayer.

²³ When he came, and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and exhorted them all, that with resolute hearts they would cling to the Lord;

¹⁸ And when they had come to him, he said to them, You yourselves know, from the first day that I came to Asia, in what manner I have lived among you at all times,

⁴ The manner of my life from my youth, which was at first spent among my own nation and in Jerusalem, is known by all the Jews.

¹⁷ Now I urge you, brethren, take note of those who cause divisions and difficulties, contrary to the doctrine which you have learned; and avoid them.

¹⁷ When I planned this, did I do it lightly? or the things that I plan, do I plan according to the flesh, that I should say yes, yes when I may mean no, no?

⁴ But as the ministers of God we commend ourselves in all things; in much endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in distress, ⁵ In beatings, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in sleeplessness, in hunger; ⁶ By purity, by knowledge, by patience, by kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in unfeigned love, ⁷ By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left, ⁸ In honour and dishonour, in evil report and good report: regarded as deceivers, and yet true; ⁹ As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, yet, behold, we live; as chastened, and yet not killed; ¹⁰ As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

¹⁴ That we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the cunning of men, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming.

²² But you know he has proven himself, that, as a son with his father, he has served with me in the gospel.

⁵ For our gospel came to you not in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and with full conviction. You know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

³ As I urged you when I went to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus, that you might warn certain men not to teach any other doctrine,

⁶ If you point out all these things to the brethren, you shall be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished by the words of faith and of good doctrine, which you have been following.

¹² Let no man despise your youth; but be an example to the believers, in word, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. ¹³ Until I come, give attention to the public reading of scripture, to exhortation, to doctrine.

¹¹ But you, O man of God, flee these things; and follow righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, and gentleness.

²² Flee youthful lusts: and follow righteousness, faith, love, and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

¹⁶ All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: ¹⁷ That the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for all good works.

³ For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but having itching ears, they shall gather up teachers for themselves to suit their own desires;

⁷ In all things show yourself to be an example of good works, and in your teaching show purity, dignity,

⁹ Do not be carried away by varied and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing for the heart to be established by grace, not by foods, which have not benefitted those who have been occupied with them.

⁵ For this very reason, give all diligence to add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; ⁶ And to knowledge self-control; and to self-control perseverance; and to perseverance godliness; ⁷ And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness love.

¹¹ Seeing then that all these things shall be destroyed, what kind of people ought you to be? You should live holy and godly lives,

⁹ Whoever runs too far ahead, and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. He who abides in the teaching of Christ has both the Father and the Son. ¹⁰ If anyone comes to you, and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, or give him any encouragement:
