¹⁰ For this reason we both labour and strive, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, especially of those who believe.

⁴³ He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

²⁹ The next day John saw Jesus coming to him, and said, Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.

¹⁵ That whoever believes in him may have eternal life. ¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. ¹⁷ For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world might be saved through him.

⁴² And they said to the woman, Now we believe, no longer because of your words: for now we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

²⁴ Truly, truly, I say to you, He who hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has eternal life, and shall not come into judgment; but has passed from death into life.

¹² And again, Isaiah says, The root of Jesse shall come, and he shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles hope. ¹³ Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

⁹ For I think that God has exhibited us apostles last of all, as if we were condemned to death: for we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels and to men. ¹⁰ We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ; we are weak, but you are strong; you are honoured, but we are despised. ¹¹ Even to this present hour we both hunger and thirst, and are ill-clothed, and are buffeted, and are homeless; ¹² And we labour, working with our own hands: when reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure it: ¹³ When slandered, we answer kindly; we have been made the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things, even to this day.

⁸ We are troubled on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; ⁹ Persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; ¹⁰ Always carrying about in our body the dying of Jesus, that the life of Jesus might also be made manifest in our body.

³ We give no offence in anything, that the ministry may not be discredited: ⁴ But as the ministers of God we commend ourselves in all things; in much endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in distress, ⁵ In beatings, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in sleeplessness, in hunger; ⁶ By purity, by knowledge, by patience, by kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in unfeigned love, ⁷ By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left, ⁸ In honour and dishonour, in evil report and good report: regarded as deceivers, and yet true; ⁹ As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, yet, behold, we live; as chastened, and yet not killed; ¹⁰ As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

²³ Are they servants of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more so; in labours more abundant, in beatings beyond number, in prison more frequently, in danger of death often. ²⁴ From the Jews I five times received forty lashes less one. ²⁵ Thrice I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have spent in the deep; ²⁶ On frequent journeys, in perils from rivers, in perils from robbers, in perils from my own countrymen, in perils from the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils on the sea, in perils among false brethren; ²⁷ In toil and hardship, in many sleepless nights, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and nakedness.

⁴ Who desires all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

⁶ Who gave himself as a ransom for all, the testimony at the proper time.

¹⁵ But if I tarry long, I write so you will know how you ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth.

¹⁷ Command those who are rich in this world not to be arrogant, nor to trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who richly gives us all things to enjoy.

⁹ For which I suffer hardship, even wearing chains like a criminal; but the word of God is not in chains. ¹⁰ Therefore, I endure all things for the sake of the chosen, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus, with its eternal glory.

¹⁰ But you have fully known my teaching, manner of life, purpose, faith, patience, love, steadfastness, ¹¹ Persecutions, afflictions, such as befell me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; the persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. ¹² Yes, and all who will live godly lives in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

²⁶ Considering abuse for the sake of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt: for he looked ahead to the reward.

¹³ Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.

²¹ Who through him believe in God, who raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

¹⁴ Blessed are you if you are insulted for the name of Christ; for the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. ¹⁵ But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a meddler in other men's affairs.

² And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

¹⁴ And we have seen and testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

¹⁰ He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself: he who does not believe God has made him a liar; because he does not believe the testimony that God has given regarding his Son. ¹¹ And this is the testimony, that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. ¹² He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. ¹³ These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life.
