²² And Jesus hearing this said to him, One thing thou still lackest: sell all that thou hast, and distribute to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.

¹⁹ Lay not up for yourselves treasures on earth, where the moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; ²⁰ but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumeth, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.

²¹ Jesus said to him, If thou wilt be perfect, go, sell what thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.

²⁷ Then Peter answering said to him, Lo! we left all, and followed thee; what then shall we have? ²⁸ And Jesus said to them, Truly do I say to you, that, in the renovation when the Son of man sitteth on the throne of his glory, ye who have followed me shall also yourselves sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

²³ And he said to all, If any one chooseth to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

⁵⁷ And as they were traveling on the way, one said to him, I will follow thee wherever thou goest. ⁵⁸ And Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have lodgingplaces; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. ⁵⁹ And he said to another, Follow me. But he said, Suffer me first to go and bury my father. ⁶⁰ And he said to him, Let the dead bury their own dead; but go thou and carry the tidings of the kingdom of God. ⁶¹ And another also said, I will follow thee, Lord; but first let me bid farewell to those who are in my house. ⁶² And Jesus said to him, No one who looketh back after putting his hand to the plough is fit for the kingdom of God.

⁴² But one thing is needful. For Mary hath chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

³³ Sell what ye have, and give alms. Make for yourselves purses which wax not old, treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, nor moth destroyeth.

⁹ And I say to you, Make to yourselves friends with the unrighteous mammon; that, when it faileth, ye may be received into everlasting habitations.

⁴⁴ And all that believed were together, and had all things common; ⁴⁵ and they sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as any one had need.

³⁴ For there was no one among them that was in want; for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, ³⁵ and laid them at the feet of the apostles; and distribution was made to every one, according as he had need. ³⁶ And Joseph, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, when interpreted, Son of consolation,) a Levite, born in Cyprus, ³⁷ having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the feet of the apostles.

¹³ Brethren, I do not reckon myself to have laid hold of it; but one thing I do, forgetting the things that are behind, and stretching forth to the things that are before,

¹⁸ that they be rich in good works, liberal in imparting, willing to communicate, ¹⁹ laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on the true life.

⁸ But forget not, beloved, this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
