⁸ I say to you, though he will not rise and give him because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.

²² And, lo! a woman of Canaan came out from those borders, and cried out, saying, Have compassion on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is grievously afflicted with a demon. ²³ But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying Send her away, for she is crying out after us. ²⁴ But he answered and said, I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. ²⁵ Then she came and fell down before him, saying, Lord, help me! ²⁶ But he answering said, It is not allowable to take the childrens bread, and throw it to the little dogs. ²⁷ And she said, Yea, Lord; for the little dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from the table of their masters. ²⁸ Then Jesus answering said to her, O woman, great is thy faith; be it done to thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was cured from that hour.

¹ And he spoke a parable to them to show that they ought to pray always, and not be fainthearted: ² saying, There was in a certain city a judge, who feared not God, nor regarded man. ³ And there was a widow in that city; and she kept coming to him, saying, Avenge me of my adversary! ⁴ And he would not for some time. But afterward he said within himself, Though I neither fear God, nor regard man, ⁵ yet, because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her; lest by coming for ever she weary me out. ⁶ And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. ⁷ And will not God avenge his chosen, who cry to him day and night, though he be slow to punish in their behalf? ⁸ I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. But yet, when the Son of man cometh, will he find faith on the earth?

³⁰ But I beseech you, by our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the love produced by the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in prayers to God for me;

⁸ In respect to this I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me;

¹ For I would have you know what a great struggle I have for you, and for those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;

¹² Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ Jesus, saluteth you, always striving for you in his prayers, that ye may stand perfect and fully assured in all the will of God.
