²⁹ Those he first recognized, he ordained in advance that they be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

¹² Moses said to Jehovah: »It is true that you have told me to lead these people to that land, but you did not tell me whom you would send with me. You said that you know me well and are pleased with me.

¹⁷ Jehovah said to Moses: »I will do this thing of which you have spoken. You have found favor in my sight. I have known you by name.

⁶ Jehovah knows (is fully aware of) the way of the righteous. But the way of the wicked will perish.

²⁷ I will also appoint him my firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.

²³ In that way he could make known the riches of his glory upon vessels of mercy that he had prepared in advance for glory.

² God has not rejected his people whom he first knew. Do you remember what the Scripture says about Elijah? How he made intercession to God against Israel?

⁷ We speak the wisdom of God in a secret, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the ages (generations and human entities) for our glory.

¹⁴ Put on (live like) (clothe yourself with) the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not make provision for the desires of the flesh.

¹⁸ We all, with unveiled face, behold as in a mirror the glory of God and are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, exactly as from God’s Spirit.

⁴⁹ And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

⁴ He chose us through him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blemish before him in love. ⁵ He predetermined (ordained) us to adoption, as sons to himself through Jesus Christ, according to the kind intention of his will.

¹¹ We were assigned as heirs predetermined according to his purpose. He works all things according to his direction and will.

²⁴ Put on the new man, that in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

²¹ Christ will, through his power, bring everything under his authority. He will change our humble bodies and make them like his glorified (glorious) body (literally and figuratively: body of his glory). He is able to subject all things to himself.

¹⁵ He is the image (likeness) (representation) of the invisible God. He is the firstborn (Greek: prototokos: childbirth, offspring) of all creation. ¹⁶ All things in the heavens and upon the earth where created through him. The things visible and invisible were created through him. Whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things have been created through him, and for him. ¹⁷ He is before all things, and through him all things originate. ¹⁸ He is the head of the body, the congregation. He is the beginning (commencement), the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence (first place).

⁹ God has saved us and called us with a holy calling. This is not according to our works, but according to his purpose and grace that was granted us in Christ Jesus, from all eternity.

¹⁹ The foundation of God stands firm having this seal: »Jehovah knows those who belong to him,« and: »Everyone who names the name of Jehovah is to abstain from wickedness.«

⁵ To which of the angels did God ever say at any time: »You are my son; this day I have begotten you«? And again: »I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son«? ⁶ And again: when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says: »Let all the angels of God pay him homage.«

¹¹ Both he who sanctifies and they who are sanctified are all from one. For this reason Jesus is not ashamed to call them »brothers«. ¹² He says: »I will declare your name to my brothers; in the middle of the congregation I will sing praises to you.« ¹³ And again: »I will put my trust in him.« And again: »Behold, the children that Jehovah has given me.« (Isaiah 8:18) ¹⁴ Since the »children« are partakers of flesh and blood, he also took part of the same things, that through death he might destroy him that had the power to cause death, [Satan] the Devil. ¹⁵ And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

² You who are chosen and foreknown by God the Father. You have been sanctified by the Spirit to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with his blood. Grace and peace be greatly increased to you.

²⁰ Jesus was known before the foundation of the world. He was made known at the end times for your sake.

² Beloved, now we are children of God. It is not yet revealed what we will be. We know that when he is revealed we will be like him. We will see him just as he is.

⁵ And from Jesus Christ, who is the Faithful Witness, and the firstborn from the dead, and the Ruler of the kings of the earth. To the one who loves us and released us from our sins by his blood. ⁶ He made us to be a kingdom of kings and priests to his God and Father. To him be glory and power forever and ever. Amen.

⁸ All the citizens of earth will worship him, all whose names have not been written in the Lamb's book of life who was slain from the foundation of the world.
