⁵ You, O Jehovah, are good and forgiving, full of loving kindness toward everyone who calls out to you.

⁶ Jehovah then passed in front of him and called out: »I, Jehovah, am a God who is full of compassion and pity. I am not easily angered and show great love and faithfulness.

¹⁷ »They would not obey you and gave no thought to the wonders you did among them. They became stubborn and turning away from you. They appointed a leader over themselves to take them back to their prison in Egypt. However, you are a God of forgiveness, full of grace and pity, slow to wrath and great in mercy, and you did not give them up.

⁸ Jehovah is good and decent. That is why he teaches sinners the way they should live.

⁷ How precious is your loving-kindness, O God! And the children of men put their trust in the shadow of your wings.

¹⁶ Answer me, Jehovah, for your loving kindness is good. According to the multitude of your tender mercies, turn to me.

¹ ([Psalm of David]) Why do you brag about the evil you have done, O mighty man? The loving kindness of God endures continually!

¹⁵ But you, O Jehovah, are a compassionate and merciful God. You are patient, always faithful and ready to forgive.

⁸ Jehovah is merciful and gracious. He is slow to anger, and rich in loving-kindness.

⁶⁸ You are good and do good. Teach me your statutes.

⁴ But there is forgiveness with you, that you may be reverenced.

⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to Jehovah, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

³³ »This is what the Lord Jehovah says: ‘On the day that I cleanse you from all your wickedness, I will cause your cities to be lived in again, and your ruins will be rebuilt.

⁹ »To Jehovah our God belong mercies and forgiveness. We have rebelled against him.

² He prayed to Jehovah: »I pray to you, O Jehovah, was this what I said, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I hurried to flee to Tarshish. Because I knew that you are a gracious God. You are merciful, slow to anger, abundant in loving kindness, and one who takes pity over calamity (tragedy) (catastrophe) (disaster).

¹⁸ Who is a God like you who pardons iniquity and passes over the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? You do not keep your anger forever, because you delight in loving-kindness (unchanging love).

⁹ »I say to you: Ask and it will be given you. Seek and you will find. Knock and it will be opened to you. ¹⁰ »Every one who asks receives. Everyone who seeks will find. It will be opened to everyone who knocks.

¹⁰ Jesus answered: »If you know the gift of God and who asked you for a drink, you would have asked him to give you living water.«

²⁰ The law came that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased God’s loving kindness increased even more. ²¹ And what for? Just as sin reigned in death, even so might grace reign through righteousness to everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁶ This is to the praise of the glory of his kindness, with which he freely honored us, the loved ones. ⁷ In him we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace. ⁸ He made this undeserved kindness abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence (insight).

⁴ But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us,

⁸ He who does not love does not know God for God is love. ⁹ The love of God was made known through us. God sent his only-begotten Son into the world that we might live through him.
