¹² The eyes of Jehovah preserve knowledge. He overthrows the words of the unfaithful.

⁹ »The eyes of Jehovah keep close watch over the entire world. He gives strength (shows His strength) to (in behalf of) those whose hearts are loyal to him. You have acted foolishly! Therefore from now on you will always be at war.«

¹² »He keeps shrewd (crafty) (cunning) people from carrying out their plans so that they cannot do anything successfully. ¹³ »He catches the wise with their own craftiness. The plans of schemers are quickly halted.

¹⁹ The people from the sunset (the west) will respect the name of Jehovah. Those from the rising of the sun (the east) will reverence his glory. He will come like a rushing stream that the Spirit (wind) (breath) of Jehovah drives. ²⁰ »A Savior will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who turn from sin, declares Jehovah. ²¹ »This is my promise to them,«says Jehovah. »My Spirit is on you and my words that I put in your mouth will not leave you. They will be with your children and your grandchildren permanently,« says Jehovah

¹⁶ Simon Peter answered: »You are the Christ, the Son of the living God!« ¹⁷ Jesus answered him: »Bless you, Simon son of John. This knowledge came from my Father in heaven and not from man. ¹⁸ »You are Peter (Greek: petros: piece of rock), and on this rock-mass (Greek: petra: mass of rock) (referring to Jesus) I will build my congregation. The entrance to the grave (Greek: Hades) will not have power to stop it.

³⁹ »But if it is from God, you cannot overthrow it; otherwise you may find yourselves fighting against God.«

⁹ A certain man called Simon was in the same city. He used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, telling everyone that he was great. ¹⁰ They all listened to him, from the least to the greatest, saying: This man has great power from God. ¹¹ They followed him because for a long time he astonished them with sorceries. ¹² When they believed what Philip preached about the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

²³ Immediately the angel of God killed him, because he did not give God the glory. He was eaten by worms and died. ²⁴ The word of God increased and spread.

⁸ But Elymas the sorcerer opposed them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith. ⁹ Then Saul, who also is called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, set his eyes on him, ¹⁰ And said: »You child of the devil, full of all subtlety and mischief, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to pervert the right ways of Jehovah? ¹¹ »Look Jehovah’s hand is on you. You will be blind and not see the sun for a season.« Immediately there fell on him a mist and darkness. He went about seeking some to lead him by the hand. ¹² When he saw what was done the deputy believed. He was astonished at the teaching of God.

⁸ Then the evil (lawless) one will be revealed. The Lord Jesus will put him to death with the breath of his mouth, and destroy him by the manifestation (brightness) (advent) (revelation) of his coming. (Greek: parousia: presence, return, being near)

⁸ And even as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also withstand the truth. Men corrupted in mind, rejected concerning the faith, ⁹ they will make no progress; for their foolishness will be evident to all men, as theirs also came to be.

³ »I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy a thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.« ⁴ These (witnesses) are the two olive trees, and the two lamp stands standing before the God of the earth. ⁵ If any man will hurt them, fire proceeds out of their mouth, and devours their enemies. If any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. ⁶ These (two witnesses) have power to shut the sky so that it will not rain in the days of their prophecy. They have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. ⁷ When they finished their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them and conquer them, and kill them. ⁸ Their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was impaled. ⁹ The people and tribes and tongues and nations will see their dead bodies three and a half days, and will look at them and refuse to bury them. ¹⁰ The inhabitants of the earth will celebrate and rejoice over them. They will rejoice and send gifts to one another. This is because these two prophets tormented those who lived on the earth. ¹¹ After three and a half days the breath of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet. Great fear fell upon all who saw them.

¹⁴ Two wings of a great eagle were given to the woman, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time (one thousand two hundred and sixty days), out of the serpent's reach. ¹⁵ The serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. ¹⁶ But the earth rescued the woman, and the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed up the flood that the dragon spewed out of his mouth. ¹⁷ The dragon was furious with the woman and waged war with the remnant of her seed. These are the ones who obey the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
