They also took all their animals, their livestock, and their valuables as loot. ¹⁰ They burned the cities where the Midianites lived and all their settlements. ¹¹ They took everything as loot including all the people and animals, ¹² and brought the prisoners of war, the loot, and everything to Moses, the priest Eleazar, and the congregation of Israel at the camp on the plains of Moab near the Jordan River across from Jericho. ¹³ Moses, the priest Eleazar, and all the leaders of the congregation went outside the camp to meet them. ¹⁴ Moses was angry with the officers of the army, the commanders of the companies and battalions, who were returning from battle. ¹⁵ Moses asked them: »Have you spared all the women? ¹⁶ »Look, these women caused the Israelites, through the counsel of Balaam, to trespass against Jehovah in the matter of Peor. Thus the congregation of Jehovah experienced the plague. ¹⁷ »So kill all the Midianite boys and every Midianite woman who has gone to bed with a man. ¹⁸ »But keep alive for yourselves every girl who has never gone to bed with a man.

²² They will be gathered like prisoners in the dungeon tower. They will be confined in prison and after many days they will be punished.

⁴⁷ »‘In the future, however, I will make good things happen to Moab. It will be prosperous again,’ says Jehovah. As of now the judgement of Moab.’«

³⁹ »‘Afterward, I will return the captives of Elam,’« declares Jehovah.

²⁸ »There is a God in heaven that reveals secrets. He made known to king Nebuchadnezzar what will be in days to come. Your dream and visions are these:

¹⁴ »Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the future for the vision is yet for many days.«

⁵ Afterward the children of Israel will return and seek Jehovah their God. David their king will come with trembling to Jehovah and to his goodness in the last days.

⁵ »O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab devised, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him. Remember from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of Jehovah.«

¹⁷ »It will come to pass in the last days, says God, I will pour out from my Spirit upon all flesh. (Greek: apo, from) Your sons and your daughters will prophesy (proclaim God’s Word). Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.

¹ Know this also that in the last days perilous (dangerous) times will come.

¹⁰ »'Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. The devil (false accuser) (Devil) is about to throw you into prison, that you may be tested. You will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful even if you must die, and I will give you the crown of life.
