²⁶ John answered: »I baptize in water. There is one in your midst whom you do not know.

¹⁶ John answered, saying to them: »I baptize you with water. He is coming who is mightier than I. I am not worthy to untie his shoelaces. He will baptize you in Holy Spirit and in fire.

¹⁰ The world was made through him. He was in the world and the world did not recognize him. ¹¹ He came to his own. They did not receive him!

¹ Observe the love the Father gave to us that we should be called the children of God. That is what we are! For this reason the world does not know us. This is because it did not know him.
