¹⁶ and one of you says to them: »Go in peace, be warmed and filled;« and yet you do not give them food and clothing, what good is it?

⁷ »You have given no water to the weary to drink. You have withheld bread from the hungry. ⁸ »The powerful possess the land, and the favored live in it. ⁹ »You have sent widows away empty-handed. You crush the arms of the orphans.

²⁷ Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due when it is in the power of your hand to do it. ²⁸ If you can help them now, never tell your neighbors: »Wait until tomorrow.«

¹⁵ Evening came and the disciples approached Jesus and said: »This place is desolate. Send the people away so they may go to the villages and buy themselves food.« ¹⁶ Jesus told them: »They have no need to go away: you feed them.«
