²⁶ Then God said: »Let us make man in our image, in our likeness. Let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth and over all the creatures that move along the ground.«

²² Jehovah said: »The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.«

¹ This is the written genealogy of Adam. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God.

² »All the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air will be filled with fear and dread of you. Every creature that moves along the ground and all the fish of the sea are placed under your control. ³ »Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. ⁴ »You must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.

You have put everything under his control: ⁷ all the sheep and cattle, the wild animals, ⁸ the birds, the fish, whatever swims in the currents of the seas.

¹⁰ »However no one says: ‘Where is God my Maker, who gives strength in the night?’

³ Know that Jehovah is God. He has made us, and not we ourselves. We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

²⁰ You appoint darkness and it becomes night, when all the forest animals prowl about. ²¹ The young lions roar after their prey and seek their food from God. ²² They withdraw at sunrise and lie down in their dens. ²³ Man goes to his work and to his labor until evening. ²⁴ O Jehovah, how many are your works! ² Let Israel find joy in their creator. Let the people of Zion rejoice over their king.

²⁹ »You see! I have found only this, that God made man upright. But they have sought out many devices (schemes) (reasonings).«

⁸ I heard the voice of Jehovah. He said: »Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?« And I said: »Here I am. Send me!«

⁸ But now, Jehovah, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are our potter. We are the work of your hands.

⁶ »Now I have handed all these countries over to my servant King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. I have even made wild animals serve him.

¹⁷ Jesus responded to them: »My Father works until now and I work.«

⁷ For a man should not cover his head, for he is the image and glory of God. But the woman is the glory of the man.

¹⁵ He is the image (likeness) (representation) of the invisible God. He is the firstborn (Greek: prototokos: childbirth, offspring) of all creation.

¹⁰ You put on the new self that is being renewed to a true knowledge (full discernment) according to the image of the one who created him.

⁶ But a certain witness has given proof, saying: »What is man, that you are mindful of him? Or what is the son of man that you take care of him? ⁷ »You made him a little lower than the angels for a little while. ⁷ Every kind of beast and bird, of creeping things and things in the sea, is tamed, and has been tamed by mankind.

⁹ We bless Jehovah, the Father, with it. (Psalm 34:1) Then we curse men, who are made after the likeness of God.
