⁴ »Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the sacred tent of meeting and have them wash themselves.

³ »Gather the entire congregation at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.« ⁴ Moses did as Jehovah commanded him. All the people gathered (assembled) at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. ⁵ Moses announced to the congregation: »Jehovah has commanded that this is what you must do!« ⁶ Moses had Aaron and his sons come forward. Then he washed them with water.

⁸ »You must wash your clothes, shave off all your hair, and take a bath. You will then be ritually clean. You may enter the camp. You must live outside your tent for seven days.

¹¹ »When evening approaches he should bathe himself with water. He may reenter the camp at sundown.

²⁵ »I will sprinkle clean water on you and make you clean instead of unclean. Then I will cleanse you from all your idols.

⁸ Peter said: »You will never wash my feet.« Jesus answered him: »If I do not wash you; you have no part with me.« ⁹ Simon Peter replied: »Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.« ¹⁰ Jesus responded: »He that is bathed must wash his feet. He is clean everywhere and you are clean, but not all.«

²¹ This was a symbol pointing to baptism, which now saves you. It is not the washing off of bodily dirt, but the promise made to God for a good conscience. It saves you through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

To the one who loves us and released us from our sins by his blood. ⁶ He made us to be a kingdom of kings and priests to his God and Father. To him be glory and power forever and ever. Amen.
