⁵ »Aaron should dress in the priestly shirt and robe under the sacred vest. Put on the vest, the breast piece, and the sash. ⁶ »Put on his turban with its narrow strip of engraved gold. ⁷ »Ordain him by pouring olive oil on his head. ⁸ »Aaron’s sons should dress in their special shirts, caps and sashes. ⁹ »Then ordain them, because they and their descendants will have a long lasting priesthood.

²⁹ »The holy garments of Aaron shall be for his sons after him. They may wear them when they are anointed and ordained. ³⁰ »For seven days the one of his sons who is priest in his stead shall put them on when he enters the tent of meeting to minister in the holy place.

¹ From the violet, purple, and bright red yarn they made special clothes worn for official duties in the holy place. They also made the holy clothes for Aaron. They obeyed Jehovah’s instructions to Moses. ² The ephod was made out of fine linen yarn and gold, violet, purple, and bright red yarn.

¹³ »Dress Aaron in the priestly garments and anoint him. Consecrate him so that he can serve me as priest.

⁷ He clothed Aaron with the embroidered tunic and tied the sash around him. He also dressed him in the linen robe that is worn with the ephod. He fastened the ephod to it. ⁸ Then he placed the breastplate on him and he placed the Urim and Thummim. ⁹ He put the turban on Aaron’s head and fastened the gold medallion, the holy crown, to the front of the turban as Jehovah had commanded Moses.

³⁰ Moses took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood that was on the altar. He sprinkled it on Aaron and his clothes and on his sons and their clothes. In this way he dedicated Aaron, his clothes, his sons, and their clothes.

²⁶ »Remove Aaron’s priestly robes and put them on Eleazar. Aaron is going to die there.« ²⁷ Moses did what Jehovah commanded. They went up Mount Hor in the sight of the entire congregation. ²⁸ Moses removed Aaron’s priestly robes and put them on Eleazar. There on the top of the mountain Aaron died, and Moses and Eleazar came back down.

²⁰ »Give him some of your authority, so that the whole congregation of Israel will obey him. ²¹ »He will depend on Eleazar the priest, who will learn my will by using the Urim and Thummim. In this way Eleazar will direct Joshua and the whole congregation of Israel in all their affairs.«

¹⁰ »Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor. Clothe yourself in honor and majesty.

¹⁶ Let your servants see what you can do. Let our children see your majesty. ¹⁷ Let the kindness of Jehovah our God be with us. Confirm for us the work of our hands. Yes, confirm the work of our hands.

⁶ Honor and majesty are before him. Strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

⁹ Clothe your priests with righteousness. Let your godly ones sing with joy.

¹⁶ I will clothe its priests with salvation. Then its godly ones will sing joyfully.

⁴ Jehovah takes pleasure in his people. He crowns (beautifies) those who are oppressed with salvation.

² In that day the Branch of Jehovah will be beautiful and glorious. And the fruit of the earth will be the delight (pride) (joy) and the adornment of the survivors of Israel.

²³ This is what Jehovah says: »Do not let wise people brag about their wisdom. Do not let strong people brag about their strength. Do not let rich people brag about their riches.« ²⁴ »If they want to brag, instead let them advocate (glory) (celebrate) that they understand and know me. They should advocate that I, Jehovah, act out of love, righteousness, and justice on the earth. This kind of celebration pleases me,« declares Jehovah.

³ to present a garland, instead of ashes, to those who mourn in Zion, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and the mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. They will be called oaks of righteousness. They are the planting of Jehovah, that he may be glorified.

¹⁰ I will rejoice greatly in Jehovah. I will exult in my God for he has clothed me with garments of salvation. He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

⁶ All of us have become unclean, and all our righteous acts are like permanently stained rags. All of us wither like leaves, and our sins carry us away like the wind.

³ Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the angel. ⁴ He spoke to those who stood before him: »Take the filthy garments from him. Behold, I have caused your iniquity to pass from you and I will clothe you with rich apparel.«

¹⁴ The Word [Jesus] became flesh (a human being) and lived with us. We saw the glory of the only begotten son from the Father. He was full of loving-kindness and truth.

³⁰ It is because of him you are united with Christ Jesus, who became wisdom to us from God, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption. ³¹ Let it be as it is written, »He that boasts, let him boast in Jehovah!« (Jeremiah 9:24)

²² God makes people righteous through their active faith in Jesus Christ. God does this to all who believe in Christ, because there is no difference at all.

¹⁴ Put on (live like) (clothe yourself with) the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not make provision for the desires of the flesh.

²⁷ For as many of you who were baptized into Christ put on (clothed yourselves with) Christ.

⁹ We see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels and crowned with glory and honor for suffering death. By the grace of God he tasted death for every man.

²⁶ Such a high priest as this was suitable for us. He is holy, harmless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and higher than the heavens.

¹⁷ He received honor and glory from God the Father when he heard the voice from the Majestic Glory: »This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.«

² Beloved, now we are children of God. It is not yet revealed what we will be. We know that when he is revealed we will be like him. We will see him just as he is.

¹⁰ »You made them kings and priests to our God. They will reign as kings over the earth.«

⁸ »It was granted to her that she dress in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen represents the righteous acts of the holy ones.«
