¹⁰ Moses and Aaron performed all these wonders before Pharaoh. Yet Jehovah hardened Pharaoh’s heart. He did not let the sons of Israel go out of his land.

²¹ Jehovah said to Moses: »When you go back to Egypt see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders that I have put in your power. I will harden his heart so that he will not let the people go.«

¹³ Pharaoh continued to be stubborn. Just as Jehovah had predicted, he would not listen to them. ¹⁴ Jehovah said to Moses: »Pharaoh is being stubborn. He will not let my people go.

²⁰ But Jehovah made the king stubborn. He did not let the Israelites go.

²⁷ Jehovah made the king stubborn. He would not let them go.

³⁰ King Sihon of Heshbon would not allow us to pass through. Jehovah your God made him stubborn and overconfident in order to hand him over to you, as he has now done.

⁶ »Why are you as stubborn as the Egyptians and their Pharaoh were? When he did terrible (mighty) things among them did he let the Israelites go?

⁴ »God is wise in heart and mighty in strength. Who has hardened himself against him and prospered?

⁴ Do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and long-suffering? Do you not know that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? ⁵ Thanks to your stubborn and unrepentant heart, you store up wrath for yourself, in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God.

²² If God decided to show his wrath and make his power known, endured with much long-suffering vessels of wrath fit for destruction.
